We are looking for a hotel to stay at for the last night we are at Disney. We are staying at POR for the first 7 days!! Yippee. I want a nice pool and playground for the kids...9, 6, 2 to hang out at our last day. We can get a good AAA rate at the Safari, but am unsure. Help!!

I stayed there once. We had a suite and enjoyed it. The only negative thing I have to say is that the pool closed every single day probably due to fecal matter. I guess they can't help that, but it was annoying. Anyway, if the pool is open, they have a great snake slide. I would reccomend it.

I think that moving from POR to this hotel will likely disappoint you. This property appears to a motel that was converted to a Sheration property. I can't speak for all the rooms but ours was dirty and had mold on the bathroom ceiling.

We just stayed here last week for 3 days after our stay at the Dolphin and we truly enjoyed it! I felt it measured up to the Sheraton standards. The pool was open every day and we used it a few times. The pool is themed, with a neat slide for the kids. They also rent unique floaties in the shape of aquatic animals. Several of the kids we saw were using these and having a ball. We are Starwood members and we received a pool view room (standard size 2 bed room). It was very clean with very comfortable new beds. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. The location is very convenient and VERY close to DD! I would not hesitate to stay here again.

You must be confusing Sheraton Safari with another hotel. Sheraton Safari has four multi-story buildings in a square.

It was built in 1987 and renovated in 1997 and has never been a motel. It has always been the Sheraton Safari.

I was there for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Got 2 nights at $150 total (AAA rate) and one night free with Starwood points. Had pool view room with a balcony.

I agree with ncbyrne in that the staff was great and the room was clean and comfortable (especially the beds!!). Would stay there again in a heartbeat!!! :teeth:

From the Crossroads Plaza and the entrance to WDW at DTD, it's the next set of lights heading away from I-4. I found it VERY convenient to everything!!! :teeth:

Hope this helps!!

Eeeeeeeeeek fecal matter and "guess they can't help it", what does that mean? I heard good things about this hotel and I'm going in next week after 2 days in Universal bc I'm bringing my pet and also using points. From what I have read its been positive, hopefully thats true! Anyway anyone know how far they are from Universal Studios? Thanks ::MinnieMo

It was owned by Wyndham prior to Sheraton taking over the property.

Well I had heard only very good things about this property, this is the first time I heard negative. If it is "dirty" then I'll complain and have it cleaned to my liking, all my dealings with any Starwood property, they're wonderful about rectifying any problems. I was a little disturbed about the pool but I heard that no where else, maybe it a strange fluke that time. I'm going in next week and I'll let everyone know what my experience was there, and this comes from a super neat freak. I also hear the beds are to die for. Getting excited! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :hyper:  :sunny:

Stayed here via priceline this past March. The whole stay was wonderful. The staff were out of their way nice. Our rooms were spotless as were the grounds. The beds were the best I've had in a hotel room!! We got this hotel for $37/nt-- which was a true bargain for this place. I would stay here again-- and even pay regular rate!!

Thanks everyone!! I think I will be keeping the ressie I made. We are planning on spending most of the day at the pool and DD before heading to the airport for a late flight. Very excited!! Only 2 more weeks.

Kilee -
Did you get your rate through Priceline? How did you get such a great rate?

Yes, HOW did you get such a good price? I would love to stay at the Safari particularly at that price.

Anyone who is worried, check out TripAdvisor.com. This hotel seems to get a lot of praise and you can see from the pictures that it was never a motel.

My friend is staying there next weekend while we are at Wilderness Lodge. I will go over and take a look for future reference while she is there...and let you all know. I want that $37 rate!!!

It was priceline-- we were there in March 2004. They've been known to come up often on priceline in the 3* category for $35-40 a night. Of course it's always a gamble.

We needed 2 beds and I as w/ any priceline ressie I was a little nervous-- they never batted an eye when I asked for 2 beds. They never made mention to priceline either.

I guess that I'll look into which hotels are in the 3* and above at Priceline. I'm a little nervous as to what we might end up with too. But that price is wonderful!

We've stayed at the Sheraton Safari through Priceline at a rate of $37/nt. and LOVED it. They were doing some painting/re-papering of the hallways when we were there and it was a minor inconvenience but nothing major. The room itself was very clean and spacious. I think you'll definitely enjoy your stay there, especially the water slide at the pool, which was a big hit with my oldest DD.

I'm staying there in dec b4 our cruise. it sounded like a very nice hotel. How did everyone find the transportation to the parks?

I'll report back after our June 11th stay. Granted we will only be there one night, but we plan on using the pool all day before our flight.

Well I just returned! Was at the Sheraton Safari 4 nights, and it was very nice there. Couldn't have been happier. We also had a suite room. The pool was great, the bed was wonderful, it was close to everything. Will definitely stay there again. What was really exceptional was the staff, we are Starwood Guest members and requested a late checkout and they were so great about it and any other requests, and this all comes after staying 2 days first at the Royal Pacific Universal Hotel.

did you use yhr shuttle service to the parks? How was it? I am going there in Dec. Just like you, I'm staying at the royal pacific before. Did you have a car?

tinkerdorabelle

Yes we had rented a car so don't know about the shuttle service. It took us about 5-10 minutes tops to get to the parks by car. Also, you can walk to restaurants, Pizza Hut, etc., 7-11, Dunkin Donuts, so many others to mention within walking distance. ::MinnieMo
