I have actually gained 3 lbs over the past week on Atkins. I think I was eating too little and slowed my metabolism down. I am also experiencing a lot of hair loss.

I know atkins isn't to blame, but my way of doing it.

Sooo, I am going to go back to counting calories (1200-1500) for a while just to see where I am at and if I can maintian my current weight for a while before trying atkins again.

I am not completely dropping off of the low-carb plan. I still plan on eating NO added sugar and sticking to protein as my main food source, but I will be having milk and fruit. I am hoping to figure out an eating plan that will work for life, that has more balance than the induction I have been doing.

Wish me luck that this gets me off of my plateau!!

Good luck,
Sometimes you have to tweak things to get them right. Keep at it and you will find what works for YOU!

Good Luck!
I think it's a good idea if your loosing hair to take a break and do some calorie counting for a while. I like the idea of sticking to no sugar, and also try to limit white bread. I had some hair loss the first time I did Atkins, and it went away when I started to eat regular food like milk and fruit.

I agree with the tweaking. I tried Atkins and did well, then gained the weight back. And I really didn't feel well even after I finished the induction.

This time I am counting calories, and trying to make better food choices. I do eat pasta and whole grain bread, but try to limit it rather than eliminate it. I also love soy milk for breakfast shakes. I find watching the calories forces me to choose foods that I can fill up on and I find I eat more often, which keeps the overeating to a minimum. I've lost almost 18 lbs since Feb. 9th., so the calorie counting and exercise is working for me.

Good luck with customizing your plan!

How long have you been on Atkins. Shouldn't you be eating fruit and milk by now anyway? I think your new plan is an excellent one. Eat smart.
