I know, I know. This should be a healthy way of life, etc. However, the reason I'm posting here instead of the Atkins message boards, is that I figured if anyone understood, the fellow DISers would. (Hey, that ryhmes.)

I'm at a plateau. I'm pretty much lifetime WW. I lost 33 lbs. on WW 3 years ago, and like most everyone else who struggles EVERY day, I have 3-5 lbs. I wrestle with. I cannot shake these last few lbs. It makes a difference to me now, as I've bought a few nice dresses when we sail the Eastern itinerary in late May. The dresses fit perfectly now. (I might even be able to gain a few okay.)

Anyway, I did phase 1 of Atkins last summer, and lost 5 lbs in less than a week. After that, no more. (Did not cheat AT ALL!) I gained it back. It didn't take long, yet I can't remember how long.

I'd like to drop 5 before we go, as I want to enjoy myself on this cruise. If I do Atkins for a week, then stop once I set foot on board, will I endanger myself of possibly gaining it back in one day? I've heard horror stories that most gain it all back on Atkins, and then some! What are your experiences?

Disciplining myself and 'avoid things w/carbs and sugars' is not an option for me on a cruise. Should I not do Atkins before this? I'd like to hear anyone's experiences. Thanks!:D

Here's my experience: The first week on Atkins you loose a lot of water. A few days off Atkins, you get it all back.

Here's my advice: Do Atkins before you go.....wear those 'skinniest' dresses the first couple of days ;)
Drink lots of water, don't spend all your time in a lounge chair (move, move, move) and be selective about your indulgences. Enjoy yourself, but remember you don't have to have EVERYTHING you see, just because you're on vacation, nor do you have to eat every bit of the foods you want to try.
