car rentals

I posted something on the transportation board, but was really curious to find out how many people actually rent a car when they go down to WDW?
Do you normally get a discount of some kind? I just bought the entertainment book for my trip - does this offer some sort of good discount?
Anyways, just was curious. I was going to try to get through my trip with no car rental, but now feel that I may be too constricted with the park transportation offers from the hotels (which I have yet to figure out).

We always rent.

We had wondered about the same thing, but in the end, we thought that overall getting over to the animal kingdom, etc. would be easier by car, and the fact that we could go shopping outside of WDW was also appealing, not to mention the opportunity to go to Sweet Tomato. :sunny:

We are driving down to WDW from Toronto this August, we are renting a car from Avis for 2 weeks. They have a discount for Aeroplan members, and its cheaper than renting a car down there in Orlando. We having a car gives us more flexibily, we can going shopping etc. without waiting for hotel transportation, which is limited.:bounce: :sunny:

we always rent a car as I like having the flexibility to drive to outlet malls or over to a resort as the bus system sometimes isn't too direct to the places we want to go. I always book on line - usually with National or Avis - as far out as possible to get a good rate and then keep checking as it gets closer. I try all variations of codes like entertainment, CAA etc...you can find a bunch of codes on mousesavers.com.
