HIFS and Parks Questions

We will be at HIFS (first time) in about 2 weeks! We are staying a week and renting a car. For 2 of the days, I will be at the HIFS with no car and a 12 yr.old. I heard that the shuttle is so-so, and that you need to make reservations the day before. My questions is..one day we want to do Disney Quest and I am not sure how to get from DQ to say....Animal Kingdom or MGM.
Also, is it easy to get a taxi from Disney in case I mess up with the shuttle?

Downtown Disney has shuttles running nonstop to all the parks and resorts. You will have no problem getting from DQ to anywhere :).

It's very simple to get a taxi. They are everywhere!

Hop on any resort bus and then take it to the resort and then get on the park bus you want to take from the resort.

DTD buses did not run to parks the last time we were there. I was told they stopped because so many people parked there (to avoid the parking fee) and took a bus to the parks. I believe you now have to go to any resort, and then take a bus to the parks. It takes up some time. If you were going to MK, I think I would take a bus to Contemporary and walk over to MK.
