I booked my airfares when the fares where about 200 per ticket. Now they are down to 110 per ticket. So I called and got the credit. However, you need to use this within one year from Purchase date. I really do not think I can swing another trip between now and then. My DW is pregnant and due in December so the August trip will be our last for a little bit. I know the credit is fully transferable etc... Anyone have any experience with letting someone esle use their credit???

Thanks,
Kevin

well if it is transferable....all you have to do is go to the airport to get the "ticket" for someone else......but the person to whom the "credit" is given must be present...when you do this transaction

not all vouchers are transferable ....or so it seems....

perhaps Bev Lynn can clarify this....

I just got credit from SWA the other night and inquired about transferring it. I was told by the woman from SWA that as long as you had the confirmation # of the person whose credit you wanted to use, that you were all set. I asked if the person whose name the credit was in had to be on the line with you and I was told no.

it maybe that different airlines have different rules in this regard

a friend of orus just signed her voucher over to her daugther and friend but had to go to the airport in order to complete the transaction ....i think you can also go to an airlines ticket office too

so she had to present the certificate in person..

You do not have to have the "credit person" present. As a matter of fact, you do not even have to go to the airport. You can purchase your tickets over the phone and apply the credit. All you need is the confirmation number that the credit is for. I have done this before with no problem. The only thing you can't do is apply it to their great internet fares because the only way to purchase by internet is with a credit card, no gift certificates or credits allowed.

One of Southwest's "sub" sites (or links) is to be used for applying the credit. You will need the confirmation # and the # of the credit card that was used to by the original tickets.

good to hear you do not always have to be there in person..

but with united they told us we would have to go to a ticketing "office" or the airport in order to complete the transaction...

it was simple though and we were in and out within about 10 minutes since we had already pre booked the flights.....and had a locator

Just FYI, one should never assume that the policies of the full service major carriers are followed by Southwest, as most of them, including the subject of this thread, are completely different.

Just this week, in fact, Southwest began allowing the application of unused funds on their website which is a fantastic development, because now you can use them toward Internet-only fares, which you could never do before. And the credit can be in any one's name, not just the passenger's.
