The closer you are to WDW the higher the prices. On the outskirts of Orlando I have seen anywhere from $1.73 to 1.79. Right around the tourist areas the gas is closer to $1.80 something.

05-04-2004, 06:31 AM
Paying right at $1.70 in Austin, Texas. You can check gasbuddy.com for gas prices around the U.S. Not very encouraging unfortunately. We are driving to WDW the first part of June and I'm budgeting for at least $2 a gallon by then.

05-04-2004, 09:34 AM

Milwaukee area is $1.99 this morning. This really stinks. $56.00 yesterday to fill my tank and I still had a quarter left. I'm going to have to quit my job at this rate.

05-04-2004, 02:22 PM
Just got back from Orlando and Fort Myers. Most places, gas was in the $1.83 - $1.89 range

05-04-2004, 07:45 PM
It was $1.79 at the Boardwalk Hess station today, not bad. A couple of stations I passed yesterday near Crossroads were $1.99 or $2.00.

05-04-2004, 08:14 PM
Anyone traveling down I-77 just south of Charlotte in SCl has gas at $1.63, and I can't imagine I-95 being much more.

Last time I went to WDW GA was even cheaper then SC. Don't gas up in NC or FL...

05-04-2004, 08:32 PM
This morning I paid $1.95 for regular. Premium was $2.15. That 's on Long Island. New York started using this new gas with ethonl in it. I think there is only two other states that use it. I read that they are expecting prices to go up 30 - 40 cents more a gallon before summer. Just something to look foward to:mad:

05-05-2004, 10:47 AM
Our gas is going for $1.59 to over $1.70 in some parts of town. Yesterday, I pd 1.59 and DH pd 1.65. Luckily, I work and live in the parts of town that have the cheepest gas.

From these posts, it looks like we have some of the cheepest prices going.

I refuse to pay over 1.70!!! (Yeah-right, ask me what I'm paying in a few weeks)

Guess I'd better up our gas $ for our Myrtle Beach trip in June!

05-05-2004, 10:49 AM

The price of Gas at the Hess Gas Stations at Walt Disney World is
currenlty $1.79 but I notice it higher in other orlando area coming home from work, like $1.83.

05-05-2004, 10:17 PM
You can find $1.75/gal if you are diligent around here, but mostly I see $1.79-$1.89. It is just horrible, and unfortunately, my dh commutes 180 miles a day for work. At least I'm getting Disney Rewards on my Disney Visa!

05-06-2004, 08:08 PM
Gas here is running $1.929 for regular, $1.979 to $2.029 for super unleaded and up to $2.129 for premium.

It is just ridiculous. Filling my tank for my minivan is awful and I average a tank a week. DHs SUV is even worse!

05-06-2004, 10:46 PM
$1.89 today in SE Ohio, on the border with WV.....too much for my SUV to be filled more than it has to be

05-06-2004, 11:18 PM

05-07-2004, 03:08 PM
I refuse to pay over 1.70!!! (Yeah-right, ask me what I'm paying in a few weeks)

Forget the few weeks, cheepest I could find today was 1.72 w/ my Kroger card!!!

05-08-2004, 08:31 AM
Mont Co PA outside Philly...Monday it was $1.72...now it is $1.80! Ouch...

05-08-2004, 09:09 AM
I got gas last night and it was $2.05 (and this is one of the cheaper stations). I live right outside of Chicago.

05-08-2004, 02:41 PM
We are back down to about $1.84-$1.89. The highest we hit was about $1.95. That is the northwest metro area of Minneapolis. My sisters all live in So Cal though and I have learned not to complain about our prices. When we were hovering around $1.69, they were thinking anything under $2 was a steal! Ugh, and I am going out there in a few weeks with a rental car. Forgot to add that to my budget!

05-08-2004, 09:00 PM
We are driving down from Colorado Right now I am posting this from the Atlanta Double Tree Suites With there free wireless access. Here are the gas Prices on the way here so far.
Denver 1.89

Saint Louis , Mo 1.89
Mount Vernon, IL 1.87
Dalton , Ga 1.73

We are Driving a 2004 Ford Excurision 44 gallon tank .

05-09-2004, 01:44 AM
Chevron closest to my house is $2.35 regular, $2.55 premium. Gotta drive way out of the way to get gas in the low $2's around here. Live in the San Diego area...

05-09-2004, 02:18 PM
And I hope the price keeps going up to reflect the true cost of using a gallon of gas to the environment. Not a popular opinion I bet but why are we wasting so much? Gas is cheaper in the US than anywhere else.

05-09-2004, 04:32 PM
You are right it is cheaper here than anywhere else but most countries are as large as our states and have much better public transportation systems (speaking mainly of Europe). If we even had another option I would be complaining. I just returned from N. VA and prices were 1.75-1.79. Here outside Phila $1.85

Average price here in the UK at the moment is $5.39 per US gallon with price rises expected soon.

I don't know what you wimps are complaining about!!!!

05-10-2004, 06:36 AM
You guys have decent public trans and your country is smaller than most of our states!!!...we have to drive... you most likely have other options...that is why we are complaining!

Maybe, if gas cost $5.39 in your country, there would be pressure on states, counties and cities to provide better public transport in the USA. It's supply and demand - if the demand for public transport existed in USA, someone would step in and provide it. It is our government's policy to encourage the use of public transport.

I doubt that the size of our respective countries is a factor. Very few people in the UK would drive regularly from John O'Groats in Scotland to Land's End in Cornwall on a regular basis - I would doubt that a daily commute in USA is any further than a daily commute in UK.

Don't imagine that the Brits aren't complaining too. Like you, we also love our automobiles and many people prefer them over public transport, even where it exists. And public transport in rural areas of the UK is no better than in USA.

I still think you are wimps!!!

05-10-2004, 09:15 AM
I very much disagree SIZE is a huge factor....as is the relative concentration of population... that is why in our country public transportation is sucessful in urban areas. It would never be feasible in the less populated areas, which happens to be most of our nation. The relative cost to lay tracks and utilize such transporation systems would far outweight the costs of a gallon of gas. Sure we shouldn't all drive SUVs but we are not the only country that shows Public Tranportation is not a cost effective option in large countries, less dense nations...look and Canada and Australia as well.

05-10-2004, 09:52 AM
Im from Michigan it's about $1.97 for regular and thaey say its going to go up!

05-10-2004, 10:59 AM

05-12-2004, 05:28 PM
Is anyone down in Orlando now? How is the price looking at the Hess Stations in WDW today?

05-13-2004, 02:26 PM
To help offset gas prices, I got the visa card offered thru AAA's site. When you use it to purchase gas, you get a 5% credit, up to $3.00 per day, posted to your account within a couple of days of your gas purchase. It really, really works. 5% may not seem like much, but this month so far, my credits have totaled about $15.00, enough for half a tank for my car.

05-13-2004, 02:59 PM
We're at $2.05 as of last night.

Near the Milwaukee, WI area

05-13-2004, 04:23 PM
$2.10 a gallon here for regular. I live in Westchester County, NY. 20 minutes from NYC. Michelle

05-13-2004, 07:15 PM
Anywhere from $1.87 to $2.05 here in Salt Lake City for reg. unleaded. :earseek:

05-13-2004, 08:40 PM
Looking at about $2.89 US a gallon up north here in Canada. Thats about a 94 cents canadian a litre on average across our vast country. We have not seen it this high ever.

05-14-2004, 09:55 AM
We're paying $1.76 here in Arlington, TX for regular and as high as $2.10 for premium

05-14-2004, 10:24 AM
$1.76...I only wish....Phila is now about $1.95

05-14-2004, 11:00 AM
We're up to $1.95 in Pittsburgh  Please make it stop!

05-14-2004, 12:07 PM
Just went out to lunch and it was $2.01 for regular...I never thought I'd see the day:( I can't believe it. I thought prices were suppose to drop!

05-14-2004, 03:54 PM
Gas is 2.02 at my local stop. I live in rural central ny. If I drive a half an hour to town I can get it for 1.95-1.99. And there is NO public transportation out here in the boonies-so I don't have any other alternative but to pay-and COMPLAIN-but THAT DOES NOT MAKE ME A WIMP!

I don't know how much more I can take! Gas prices burn my a** anyway. Here in NY so much of the price comes from the taxes. Gotta move south!!:sunny:

05-16-2004, 07:26 AM
Gas here in the northern suburbs of IL is anywhere from 2.09 to 2.14 and that is just for regular. This is getting a little out of hand!!!!! not to mention expensive.
