My husband and I have an Illuminations cruise booked for Oct. 28. We also may switch the cruise to the Breathless II when/if it comes available for booking. (In which case we would be cancelling the pontoon and I would be more than happy to post here before I do this)
We would consider sharing with 1 or maybe 2 other couples, any age. My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary and are looking for a peaceful, romantic cruise. We also may have wine or champagne on board if it is allowed. If you do have children, please understand.
If you are a couple, are interested in a romantic cruise on October 28, and are willing to split the cost 2 (or 3) ways, please let me know. Since we are still somewhat up in the air, I am not looking for any sort of commitment from anyone, just want to know if anyone is interested.
I couldn't find a separate thread for Oct 2007 cruises. If there is one, would someone please let me know, so I can post there too? Oh, and I cannot send PMs because I am new to the boards, so please post replies here. Thanks!!!!

I can't recall now, but is park admission required for an Illuminations Cruise? I shouldn't think so, since you're picked up at the Y&B Club and you don't exit the boat until you're back at the dock. Can anyone confirm that for me so I can quit worrying about it? :confused3
Thanks!

Ok...I know I should do a little more research but please help me out. When you call to book a cruise do you tell them which cruise you want...ie wishes or illuminations. Also, what about the holiday wishes...do they have a cruise for that? I saw last years schedule for wishes during MVMCP. Holiday wihses was at 9:30. If they have a regular wishes scheduled and a MVMCP wishes on the same night will there be cruises for both and what do you tell them for reservations. Also, which cruise is better....illuminations or wishes? Oh...one more question...for the wishes cruise can you ask for the boat with the audio? I really don't think I would like the wishes without the audio...?:confused3

HI! I am also hoping to schedule a Wishes cruise in December. I've talked with CM at WDW (1-407-WDW-TOUR) and she told me that they only do the "holiday time" Wishes fireworks during MVMCP, which I guess is at 9:30. I was confused about that too. There are 5 launches for the cruise, and you can request the one you want - Polynesian, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian or the Yacht Club. Then you request what type of boat and cruise you want. Of course, all this is subject to availability as there are limited number of boats. You can't reserve a boat until 90 before the date of the cruise you want. A CM at the above number can tell you what day you should call in. I'm counting down to my call-in day. BTW, I"m hoping to get a Wishes Cruise on Wed. Dec. 11, if any couple would like to share. It will just be me and DH (celebrating our 10th Anniv.) :santa:

Yes you tell them what you want to book.
Cannot answer about the MVMCP cruises nor which cruise is better. I booked for Wishes.
Yes you ask for the boat with Audio (that is what I booked, the CM said the platoons w/out audio will try to pull up to the ones w/Audio but there is no guarantee of sound.
Hope this answered some of your questions.

There is a limited availability for the Illuminations. I got through at 2 minutes after the booking time and they were booked already. Got the Wishes instead, but even then they were going fast. While I would have paid the full cost of the cruise if no one wanted to share, sharing made it possible to have some money towards Cirque de Soleil if we decide to go. Now instead of the $275+tip I will only end up paying for 1/2.

In a nutshell:
There are only 6 boats available for IllumiNations.
5 Pontoon Boats and Breathless II
1 of the pontoon boats is set aside for Platinum Plan (Grand Plan) Guests.
Lou Mongello has a really good article explaining it all here:
http://www.disneyworldtrivia.com/articleViewer.php?aid=242
Bottom line, never give up, cancellations and no-show guests happen all the time.

Hi! I see that for $25 more, I can get a "Celebrations" cruise with decorations. Does anyone know what kind of decorations these are? (Is it worth the extra $25)? Also, I'm thinking about ordering a cake to be delivered. Do I have to order the cake from where I'll be leaving (Poly) or isn't there a WDW "cake place" that I can order from? Thanks for your help.

Usually about 10-12 appropriate balloons (Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, Congratulations), and a banner. May not sound "worth it" but it attracts a lot of attention and you will feel a little more special on the boat.
As far as cake or any other additional items you want, you should call the Private Dining at the location from your boats departure (your case the Poly). Tell them your on a Specialty Cruise, give them your confirmation number and confirm the departure time. Then call at least 24 hours before and reconfirm everything. Funny story, about two weeks ago, I was at Bayside Marina waiting for an IllumiNations Cruise, when private dining from the Yacht Club came out with two carts full of food, the cruise driver's were confused, told them they weren't expecting any food, much less enough to feed 13 ppl! They checked the CRO system, and the order was for a Specialty Cruise on the Grand One at the Grand Floridian. Talk about your mix-ups!

A total of 6 happy family members are looking for a last minute opening for an Illuminations on 8/19, 8/20,8/22, or 8/23. Depending on space, a minimum of three of us could join you (Mom plus 2 well behaved DD).

DIS Board is the greatest! We just booked an illumination cruise only 2 weeks away on the Breathless 2 after about 15 attempts - after reading about the Breathless 2 availability.
If you have not found any availability for your dates, call and ask about the Breathless 2--- Disney just started taking reservations less than a week ago so chances are it may be available for you!

On August 10, at 845am cst, we cancelled our fireworks cruise for August 18. This is the normal wishes cruise, but it goes out a little later since Wishes fireworks do not happen that night, but the Pirate and Princess fireworks do occur that night. Confused yet?
Anyway, there is now a boat open that night if anyone is looking.

after looking at the pictures I was thinking my family of 4 would be OK if one of us sat next to the driver and then 3 behind them. Then we could offer the seat in the back for 2 people. But I really doubt 7 with the driver would be all that comfortable. Does anyone know its first day out? I'm interested in what the review is on the seating.

We already have an Illuminations cruise but I am seriously thinking about trying to switch it to Breathless ... but I have a question... Isn't Breathless the one that people say since you sit so close to the water, you get all the smoke and you don't really get to see the fireworks??? Please help!
Thanks.
I have been on two of the original Breathless Illuminations cruises and one pontoon Illuminations cruise. I don't know what other folks reported, but we didn't get any more smoke than on the pontoon. I felt we had a good view as well. JMHO.

There is no difference between being in the pontoon boat vs Breathless II regarding Smoke and Ash. There is always the possibility that the wind will be blowing towards the parked boats, just as it may be blowing towards you anywhere around World Showcase Lagoon, at a spot that you picked out hours before the performance.
So, Smoke and Ash are aways a possibility, but regarding the difference between a pontoon and Breathless II, no difference.
Would I ever NOT do an IllumiNations Cruise just because of this possibility? NO WAY. The benefits far out weight the slight possibility of the winds unpredictable direction.
If I had the opportunity to ride Breathless II, I would grab it.

FYI this is a temporary situation. When Bayside Marina replaced Breathless with Breathless II, manufactured by Hacker Craft, the boat went thru extensive testing and training. Only the full time driver (Aaron) was trained, so that if any major issues were discovered, he would be better suited to have them corrected before any of the other drivers were "behind the wheel."
It so happens that there were some steering issues that needed adjustment, and after this and a few other corrections were made, the boat was recently cleared for guests. Also, not that this has happened, additional drivers will be trained and as soon as their training is completed, Breathless II will be running 7 Days a week, although no timetable is currently available.

Not a rumor, but don't expect WDW-PLAY to be able to book this boat since it's reserved by the Concierge. If you have a confirmed Concierge reservation, call your concierge desk and ask them if the boat was already reserved by somebody else. It's not a free boat, it's a courtesy extend to the Concierge desk. Just because it may already be reserved doesn't make it a rumor.

Crazy - it sounds like you have been on multiple cruises. I am trying to find out if 7 people would really fit comfortably on Breathless II.
It looks like if 7 fit - it would be 3 and 3 and 1 in the driver seat. But when I talked to the people on he phone...they said 4 poeople on one seat and 3 on another.
Do you think they can.
I can't remember who posted the GREAT pictures they just took, but would be interested in their thoughts also.
If it was 3 and 3 --- then couples would end up being broken up too.
Trying to decide if we should just go with 4 people and have the extra cost.
Crazy Hakim
08-12-2007, 08:43 PM
A lot will depend on how big said people are. The rumble seat on Breathless II is definitely smaller than the original Breathless. I cannot see more than 2 adults back there.
Now, 4 adults in the middle, that is going to be tight. But, I bet most don't know that there is a middle seat for the front. The photos I took shows it not in place, and Aaron thinks it will be too cramped to have two guests sharing the front seat with him.
So, that all said, I would think that 6 adults will be very comfortable on the boat, and maybe 7 if at least two were children. But this is purely speculation, they have only just started manning the boat. But, if you do reserve it, you could always drop by during the day (after 1:30pm) and speak to Aaron about seating arrangements.

Thanks to this thread, I was able to book a Wishes cruise this morning for Nov 10 (exactly 90 days from today!). I followed the first post in this thread and it went very smoothly. The CM that helped me this morning was great--no small talk, right to the point and very quickly. I called at about 7:05 this morning. I requested a fireworks cruise and she responded with "for Nov 10?" Then SHE asked, "IllumiNations or Wishes?"
Now I would like to find people to share it with us!

The canopy covers only the back half of the boat, and unless it's raining, the canopy is folded up. Either way, it's not in the way. Yes, you can see the lasers.
You can see most all of the show, you cannot see a couple of the countries, like Japan, Morocco, France, and Canada. But the boats face directly at the center of the action, the flame barge and the globe.

We have 4 adults and 2 small children. I figure that 3 of us will sit in the middle row and the other 3 will sit in the back. If we were all adults, I would guess that the middle row would be 4 adults and the back row 2 adults. A 7th person could sit up in the front seat beside the captain.
I really have no idea how wide the seats are but I would guess that the middle row can accomodate 4 average-sized adults and that the back can accomodate 2. I will let you know when I get back.;)

I have only been looking on the "Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies" thread but yesterday evening I was looking in the Adult and Solo travelers area and they have a thread titled "Illuminations Cruises -What are they - How to book- find one to share". This is extremely last minute, but I thought no harm in asking, so here goes.....DH and I will be visiting Disneyworld August 25 and 26. (We will also be attending the Pirates and Princess party on August 24. I don't know if we would have access to the wishes cruise during this party, but if so, that would be an option for us as well) If anyone has room for two adults on a wishes or illuminations cruise, please e-mail me at lillykinloo@yahoo.com. I cannot PM. We would love to come along. :shamrock:

This is sort of a last call for the 4 seats available on our September 6, 2007 wishes cruise.
I may cancel if I don't get anyone to share, because $225 for the four of us is a bit too rich for my blood.
I have posted to share this on three different boards and nobody is interested, so I must have picked a bad night.

That is our last night, but if you decide to cancel let us know....we don't have a park planned that day, do you have to have a ticket to get to the wishes cruise? We have 7 (2 adults, 2 Disney adults and 3 little ones) or we'd join you....sadly we're more than 4. We wanted to watch Wishes from the Castle on our MK day though, but maybe we could fit this in during our last night....just let me know. Thanks!

I still have a Wishes Birthday cruise with piped in music on November 14, 2007 leaving from the Wilderness Lodge. We are 4 adults (sort of) and can fit either 6 adults or a combination of 8 adults & children. The total cost is $300 and I figure we can split based on the number of people going. If interested - pm me - we will have cake and be celebrating 3 birthdays in our party and you can add yours to the list as well. thank you and have a magical day!

I have one booked for the 14th leaving from the wilderness lodge at 7pm - have 6 adult and 2 children slots or less adults and more kids. Just got one other adult too - so if you are in we are upto 9 on this cruise - am thinking we will max it out at 12 so would be economical for everyone. We have a Birthday cruise booked with the piped in audio for $300 - there are 3 in my party celebrating and the other diser is too - How cool is this. Let me know ASAP and I will keep everyone up to date on progress and cost - if we get to 12 then it would only be $25 per person plus tip for the driver - what a deal. smithhefler@hughes.net Have a glorious day! Hello,
Just wanted to clarify something. The previous poster stated that they can accept 5 adults and 2 kids in addition to the five adults already booked. Unfortunately, the premium boat holds a maximum of 10 people, irregardless of age. The basic boat hold a max of 8. Hope that helps,

I will have to call and check because when I called to reserve the CM told me I could have 10 adults or 12 with a mixture of children. You were right - I just called disney and they just told me a total of 10 people - but I swear they told me 12 the first time I called to reserve - so I stand corrected - thank you. So now I have room for 5 people - does not matter if adults or children. Let me know if you are interested in joining us! Have a magical day!!

Hello again,
I'm sorry for the wrong info the original CM gave you. Sometimes it seems they are not all up to date on the cruises. I've had them tell guests to go to the wrong dock, at the wrong time, along with other erroneous info.
And who knows, I might be joining you on your cruise anyway, as I'm a cruise skipper for Wishes & Illuminations!!!!
Have fun, and take care,

Crazy Hakim or Major Woody - any info/updates on the Breathless II running Sundays or Mondays? TIA!

Being a native NYer could not do Florida in July - ugh!! Hope it is you commanding our 'ship'...so now we are still looking for 5 others to come and party with us!! Happy Day!

Hi Sarah,
I had two cruises booked and was trying to transfer one to someones else name. They will not do it. If you find someone who wants the cruise, you have to go to the marina and check them in. The only way to get your name off is to cancel the cruise.
Good Luck

Posting again...
My husband and I have an Illuminations cruise booked for Oct. 28. We would like to switch to the Breathless II when/if it comes available for booking on Sundays. We would be happy to share with up to 4 adults (or more if we wind up on the pontoon). My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary and we also may have wine or bubbly on board if it is allowed. If you do have children, please understand, I'm not trying to be inflammatory.
If we are able to switch to the Breathless II, you would have the option of switching with us, or we would be happy to let you know when we are cancelling the pontoon so you could book it. Since this is still a little up in the air, I am not expecting any commitment/payment, just want to know if anyone is interested. Thanks!

My family was lucky enough to secure the Breathless II last Wednesday. Here are my observations:
The one and only driver (they are in the process of training others) was excellent and a real asset to Disney.
The boat is absolutely beautiful.
While the boat allegedly fits 7 adults, I would question that unless they were small sized adults. We had three adults (me being a large adult) and three kids and we fit very comfortably. I would just be concerned if there were 7 medium to large sized adults in the boat.
The pre-fireworks tour around the board walk and to MGM studios was beautiful during this time of the summer.
All in all, great boat and great trip.

Jennifer - thanks for posting this. I have been wondering how many would fit.
We have 4 adults so far. And I am trying to decide how many more we would take (I would be posting for more people). But for the 275.00 I don't want it to be uncomfortable, but of course want to lower the cost.
So is it 3 adults in each seat, and the one next to the driver stays empty?
I am also concerned about 3 couples as that means 1 of the couples are split right???

OK, here's a question. This morning, I booked an Illuminations cruise for Sunday, November 25 for my family (DW, 2 kids, 2 parents, and my sister). I used the general instructions on the first page of this thread and asked for the "specialty cruise" leaving from the Yacht and Beach Club. My intent was to book a pontoon boat Illuminations cruise as a surprise for us all. Since I've got two small kids (will be 1.5 and 2.5 years old at the time) the pontoon option seems like a safer option with a little more space as well.
I was expecting a cost of $250, but when everything was booked the CM on the phone confirmed the total cost as $275. At the time I assumed that costs must have gone up in the latest round of admission ticket/room rate increases and didn't question it. But now I'm reading confirmation of Breathless II cruises for $275 and I'm wondering if I am actually booked on Breathless instead of a pontoon. I did not specifically ask for one or the other, just assumed I was booking a pontoon.:confused3
Any thoughts on what I got? I know I can just call back and ask but I'm at work and not able to call easily right now.
Also, if I am on the Breathless, would this still be OK with the small kids? In my head I picture a loud speedboat with kids bouncing around in their seats vs. a calmer ride on the pontoon. But really I have no good feel for one vs. the other.
Thanks.
ETA: Just rememberd, on the phone they offered me two options. A "Premium cruise" for $275 or a "Celebration cruise" with decorations for $300. I assumed both were pontoons, just one with $2.50 worth of decorations for en extra $25 charge.

Yes, there are two bench seats and one seat by the driver. One bench seat is right behind the driver (the middle seats) However, the other bench seat is 6 to 8 feet behind the middle seats.
The rear bench seat is so far back that it is hard to communicate with those persons when the boat is in action. Also, this rear bench seat is smaller than the middle bench seat.
If you had three couples, I guess three would be in the rear bench seat (skinny adults only) and three in the middle bench seat, OR move one person up to the seat beside the driver. So, yes, one couple would be split up. But because of the seating arrangement, you are physically separated anyway.
In response to the comment about this being a bumpy speed boat....that is not the case. It is a very smooth ride and the driver never goes fast enough (unfortunately) to go a speed boat normal speed.
Again, the boat is beautiful, but just be prepared for the unusual seating arrangement.

Hello everyone,
We are looking for a spot on a fireworks or illumination cruise on any of the following dates:
October 5-14th. We have done the cruise on Sevean Seas lagoon on the yacht, many years ago. It was so fantastic!
We would love to cruise the lake and see the fireworks or do a cruise to see Illuminations.
There are 2 adults and we are fun people, so we are up for anything you have planned :woohoo:
Please include us to make our 3rd Anniversary Trip that much more special ;)

I am hoping to get luckly and book an illuminations cruise in Dec and I have a few questions
Would I be better booking it myself or letting itinerary planning handle it (we are staying CL)
Has anybody had any items from Private Dinning? - whats good to get? Can you get wine / beer delivered.
Anybody ever had problems with the smoke / ash?
Is the best number to call 407-WDW-PLAY?
What time to book the cruise for?
Thanks in advance

Babyboo,
My DH & DD (age 9) had our the Illuminations cruise on August 14th....& it's worth every penny! There was no problems with ash at all & we were lucky to have the wind blowing gently behind us so there was no smoke either. Follow the calling directions from page 1 & start calling at 6:55 am the morning of (90 days in advance of the date you want the cruise.)
Yes, you can have a meal delivered, I saw a smartly dressed CM deliver a bottle of champagne from the Yacht Club to one of the other boats on our night.
If you are fortunate to get a cruise & you have children be sure to ask for Captain Ron to be your driver (this has to be done when you check in at the Yacht Club marina, not when you make the initial reservation). Because we we're fortunate enough to get him, he traded out the "regular" pontoon & used the "Pirate" themed pontoon for my daughter! YAY! He made us feel very special with lots of Disney trivia & just a super attitude. He even let my daughter drive the Pirate boat unassisted when we did a pre-Illuminations run to MGM. Everyone waiting for the boat shuttle at MGM's dock laughed as the grown-ups lounged while DD drove us around. We had a blast!
Good luck!

Can anyone who's been on a Wishes cruise give me an idea of what the provide snacks are? They say the price includes "soda, water, and snacks"; are they talking about cookies, popcorn? Just trying to get an idea of what to consider ordering from the resort's dining menu.

I was on an Illuminations cruise in May and the snacks were small bags of chips.
Sorry I don't know how to PM you:confused3 ....what time does the boat leave the Grand Floridian ? It is the MNSSHP at MK that night - the fireworks are scheduled for 9.30pm according to WDW website.
Do you still have this available for October 8th. We will be honeymooning and for the first time together travelling without our (mostly grown) kids. We are looking forward to a more romantic Disney trip.
I have 7 spots available for the Wishes Cruise on October 8th leaving the Grand Floridian. Cost is $27.50 person if all spots fill up. This boat has the music piped in and has snack and soda/water available on board. PM me is interested.
I think I replied to the post wrong (replied to a reply) so here is a new response message. If you still have 2 slots open for the Wishes cruise on October 8th, we would love to join you. We will be honeymooning and will be travelling without our (mostly grown) kids together for the first time.
(I would PM, but it keeps giving me an error - looks like something about too few posts or something.)

I am just curious, will there be snacks/drinks on the Breathless II cruise? If not, can I bring my own? I would love to have something for us and the kiddos to munch on during the show.
BTW-We still have one seat available on our Breathless II Illuminations cruise on the 9/28. The seat would be the one beside the captain. PM me if you are interested.

We I booked our Breathless II Cruise I was told that there would be snacks and drinks. I don't think you can bring your own food and drink on any of the cruises.

11/14 birthday cruise filled yet?
We get into Orlando that afternoon. I don't know if it would be too much on us to do fireworks that night, but hey - we're on vacation!
Please let me know if anyone has room for 2 adults and 3 kids!
Thanks.

They provide soda and snacks(popcorn, chips, pretzels). The reservation number said if I wanted wine I had to order it from the food and beverage center at 407-934-3160. So I called them to see what kind of wine they had. They said they had alot of different kinds but couldn't tell me which ones??? She then said I was welcome to bring my own. So I got mixed messages. I think I'll just bring my own bottle in my backpack. Good luck. We also have room on the Breathless for 2 people in the back row Oct 31 evening.

Is there an updated cost for the Illuminations Cruise? I saw at the beginning of the thread that it's 175ish, and then from the link to wdwinfo it's a hundredish bucks more. Is this the correct price? My DBIL is going to propose to his DGF this December and wants to book an Illuminations Cruise to do it on. Do they offer any special 'romance' packages? I've never been on an IC before...:confused3

The price is definitely more now. For a little romance, he could add the decorations - balloons and a banner for $25 more. Also, he could have dinner and/or cake delivered to the boat. That would be pretty romantic.

I tried the last 2 mornings to get an Illuminations cruise for 11/29 and 11/30 but no such luck.
We are a family of 7 if anyone has room.
Which brings me to a question. Both times we hung up the phone at 7:01 after being told it was sold out. I think part of the problem is that long spiel about the survey and if you don't want to take it right away call this number bit. Is there anyway to avoid that? That is a terrible long spiel. We started pushing the prompts right at 7 (after we had been redialing since 6:55) and everything gone by 7:01 seems odd to me.
I also wonder if some of the calls are being sent through while some of the other circuits are closed.
