We just booked the illuminations cruise for January 22nd. (I know less than 2 weeks and we were able to book :confused3 ) Anyway, we have 4 spaces. We are a family of 4 with 2 children ages 4 and 7. And my in-laws. So that leaves 4 spaces. It is short notice but if anyone is interested PM me.

I'd be interested in sharing a cruise between the dates of June 3 and June 11th.

It would be me, DH, DD (10 yo) and possibly a 9 yo friend of DD's. We're not sure of that yet.

How to book an Illuminations Cruise:

You need to call 407-939-7529 exactly 90 days before the date you want to reserve. You can determine when to call by using the DIS's priority seating calculator if you CLICK HERE

Since these cruises are so much in demand, start calling about 6:55 am est. If you get a recording that they are not open yet, disconnect and immediately hit redial. If you get the recording thanking you for calling hit #3 right away, as soon as the second recording begins press #2, when the third recording begins press either your reservation number or phone number and finish with the pound sign. Then press #1, then #2. This will take you to a reservationist, if you have to hold do not disconnect or you go to the bottom of the queue.

If you want to try to find a cruise to share, or if you have a reservation for a cruise already and are willing to share with others please post to the appropriate Illuminations Cruise Central.

These are the directions from 1st post, and they worked for me (although I think I left off the last number-Call a day or two before-in the afternoon, and try it out.)

To answer some other posts, althought I have never done a cruise-have my first scheduled, I would think they would have you arrive 1/2 hour early to make sure you are cruising, and to be sure to have the right type of life jackets on board, then they can bring down the snacks, etc. I would think if you were not there they would try to re book with people that were hoping for a no-show.

Also for those that have not yet been successful, I would check at the 2 week mark, I bet that is when you would find cancellations, or show up at the dock at 8:30. Good luck.

Got our cruise for April 14th! My sister also called and got through (we cancelled her right away so someone else could get in) . I can't believe that we both got through since it is Easter weekend!

We have ten of us going and are really looking forward to it!

Wondering if the huge jump in price from two years ago is making people think twice.

I was able to book a cruise for Easter Sunday, 4/16. I forgot to wake up in time for my original day (Saturday, 4/15). I didn't think I would get in. Thanks again for these boards and the instructions.

1. Show up at 8pm, the window opens at 8 to pay for the cruise. The Credit Card number taken during the booking is to HOLD the cruise and in case of a "No-Show" but the marina still has to ring-up the transaction.

2. After the cruise is paid for, and the appropriate life jackets are supplied (children 12 and under), the driver can depart as early as 8:15-ish. If you arrive at 8:30pm you are most likely to find an empty dock.

I have a question. I booked the Wishes cruise for DH and I, they charged me $200.00 She (Emily) questioned frequently that it was just DH and I. If I wanted to add addtional people can I? I have to confirm two weeks prior could I add people then?

I think this is because they have two different sized pontoon boats for Wishes, the smaller 20 foot and the larger 24 foot ($250.00).
The 20 Footer will easily handle up to 8 guests.
The boat charge is by the boat, not by the person, so the entire boat is yours, if you want to bring additional people you can without calling first.
You should have no problem adding people to your boat.

I have reserved an illuminations cruise for March 30th, 2006. The quoted price is $234 PLUS TAX, which is way different from $150. I've called once to verify that I was getting what I thought I was, and they said, that yes it is the "specialty cruise that leaves the yacht marina at 8 PM, the last cruise of the day. "Illuminations is scheduled for 9PM that night; will I get to see it? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you arrive at Bayside Marina at 8pm, check in, meet your driver, pay for your cruise ($250.00 inc/tax), and depart between 8:15 and 8:30.
You will be on the water for about 1-hour, you will definitly see the entire performance of IllumiNations.

I did a search on tipping and all I found was that some people collect from each family and another group gave $25.00 and wished they had tipped more.

So for a $200 cruise carrying 5 people what would you suggest?

Thanks.

Thanks. We tipped $25 or $30. I think that is reasonable, but like you, I wanted to know what was customary. If I had an idea of what they were being paid (I know, shouldn't matter)...

Yes, you can add people. You can call the marina the night before just to be sure.

As for knowing ahead of time, they'll want to know how many snacks to bring aboard -- which probably takes some coordination between the "food people" and "cruise people".

We just had our Illuminations cruise last week, :sunny: and here are my thoughts:
-- Birthday decorations cost a bit extra and were worth it -- nice banner on the side of the boat, as well as bunches of balloons tied to the sides of the canopy (a little bummed we didn't think to ask to take the balloons along after, but the banner looks too nice for them to give away)
-- We had a party of 11 (6 adults and 5 kids) and had absolutely no trouble fitting all of us. Even though when I made the reservation they told me the max was 10 people, period.
-- Wally was our captain, he only works on Monday nights and he was great!
-- We tipped $40, and I think my brotherinlaw also tipped something too.
-- My FIL was thrilled with his birthday surprise, and ...
-- We had a WONDERFUL view of Illuminations!! :cloud9:

While I don't think we'd spend the money on this cruise every trip to the exclusion of trying other fun things at WDW, I'd definitely do it again in the future -- especially if it were just my dh & kids and we could split the boat with another family.

Have a magical day!

Hello Illuminations Cruisers!

We have never been on a cruise of any kind, and I was interested in taking my son for his birthday on Feb 11th. I know it's last minute, but we just planned the trip to meet my dad down there, and we're trying to do a birthday 'day' and night for him as a surprise. (We arrive at midnight on the 11th, so his first full day in Disney will be his birthday). His favorite fireworks show is Illuminations, and I'd love to take him on the cruise if anyone is still looking to share a boat. Maybe someone had a last minute cancellation? There is 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 children. Thanks so much!!

I appreciate the breakdown of the prices...does anyone know if any of these levels also include food (snacks) or is that an additional per person cost on these? Is the "celebration" level just a banner and balloons on your particular boat?

TIA

I just got off the phone with Disney Recreation.

The Basic is limited to 8 people does not have any audio for the fireworks and is $200 plus tip.

The Premium package can have up to 10 (same type of boat) but has audio equipment and pipes in the Wishes audio and music that goes with the fireworks display and is $250.

Both include snacks: Popcorn, Chip, Pretzels, soda and water.

There is a Birthday Celebration add on for $20 and has balloons and a Birthday Banner on the boat.

You cannot bring on your own food or a cake....but you can order one from the resort that your boat leaves from.

6" cake servers 4-6 people for $12.50
8" cake serves 8 people for $25.00

They will have it on board the boat when you get there.

I'm posting here since there is no link for May on the first page yet. :rolleyes1

I have booked Illuminations cruise for Friday May 5. :teeth: I would LOVE to get Sat, May 6 instead.

Here's the deal: If anyone already has May 6 booked and needs some filler for the boat - we are 3 (myself, DH and DD7 - very well behaved and lots of fun). I'd loved to share May 6 with you, and give up my ressie for May 5.

If I cannot find any takers for May 6, then I will be looking for May 5 people to fill the spots on the one I have booked.

Anyone? :wave2:

We just returned from our trip and did an Illuminations Cruise. I'm sorry to say but I did not feel like it was worth the $250.00 dollars. The boats do not go out into the lake but are parked under the bridge on the waterway from the Y&B club marina. The music is not piped onto the boat so you only heard it from a distance. I would rather make a ressie at Rose and Crown and hope for a good seat. We did see Wishes from California Grill and it was wonderful. We will definately do it again.

help!!!! ok this is EXACTLY what i want to do for our trip (eeek in november) but i have to budget for everything (including this) now. there will be 2 kids, (age 5.5 and barely 3) and 5 adults. 7 in total. Our trip to disney is being paid for by my mum as her birthday gift to herself. my brother and i already fought over who pays for hoop de doo revue for her, he won. haha. so i win on this! she will LOVE It. what i need to know: can you pick the time u are picked up at?
which yields a better view....boat for wishes at MK or Illuminations at Epcot? (which is the better fireworks display to begin with?)
does anyone have a picture of the pontoon? of the replica boat?
how long is the ride?

TIA!!! OH and do u feel its worth the extra $$$ for the "celebration" boat? (ie birthday decorations and what not? ironically my mums birthday is in may. LOL but as this is her birthday gift to herself, (the trip for all of us) i want to have a 'birthday something' while we are away!

>The boats do not go out into the lake but are parked under the bridge on the waterway from the Y&B club marina.
The boats are parked under the bridge between France and the United Kingdom. Can't really park any closer without danger of falling ash and paper from the sky.

>The music is not piped onto the boat so you only heard it from a distance.
Distance? The speakers are in the nearest Torch (#14) which is less than 20 feet from most of the parked boats. They are SO loud that the boat vibrates especially during the opening sequence.

>I would rather make a ressie at Rose and Crown and hope for a good seat.
"to each his own" as my mother used to say.

WOW Crazy Hakim you seem a little testy about this. Yes, to each his own.

But to respond and clarify your statements -- People in UK and France are closer to the lake than the boats. We could have pulled up next to these areas and had a better view.

Our boat was not rocking with music. If there is a speaker on "torch (14)", it was not working.

I would much rather have a great meal and see Wishes for the same price as the boat.

>WOW Crazy Hakim you seem a little testy about this.
Not testy at all, just want to clarify the facts.

>But to respond and clarify your statements -- People in UK and France are closer to the lake than the boats. We could have pulled up next to these areas and had a better view.
You are talking about two "private" function areas that are not always open to the general public, the one on the left near the Fish & Chips stand holds about 30 ppl, the one on the right is much larger and used a lot of times for weddings, private parties and convention groups. Are they closer than the boats?, yes but not comfortably seated on a cushioned seat like the pontoon boats. And if these areas were open to the public they fill up quite early.

>Our boat was not rocking with music. If there is a speaker on "torch (14)", it was not working.
It was working last night (2/6/06).

>I would much rather have a great meal and see Wishes for the same price as the boat.
I have seen Wishes from the California Grille and the view is lacking the stunning effect of having the Castle in the center frame of the firework affects. After seeing it numerous times from Main Street, I was quite disappointed with the view from the observation deck.

But, like I said, not testy at all, I just want to make sure that everybody knows exactly what to expect from a Specialty Cruise, the 1-hour boat ride, the tour around the lakes, the interaction with the driver, and the great view and comfort of arriving 5 minutes before the show starts and the leisurely ride after the presentation. A great view, and usually a great, relaxing night.

Crazy Hakim I have a very different opinion of the cruise. I don't believe it is worth the $250 especially in the slow season. You can find lots of better views for free without staking out a spot hours before. I am sure others agree with me as well. I know the 9 people on our boat all agreed.

I can say I really enjoyed the Illuminations cruise, however last March the cost was $125.00 and when I called this year I learned that it was $250.00. Even though I booked the cruise we cancelled. I can justify that much of an increase.

Are they still saying there's no such thing as Illuminations cruise when you call? I'm thinking about booking a Wishes cruise for August and want to know how they're handling it all now.

Cheers!

What time do you load up and leave for any of the fireworks cruises?? I'm thinking of getting the Grand 1 for after our wedding. Our reception won't be over until 8:30, Wishes that night is at 10...so I'm wondering how the timing would work out. Sorry if this should not be posted here, hoping to get a generic answer. I would create my own thread, but don't want hubby to be to see. Thanks!

I am almost positve that the Grand 1 is rented on a per hour basis, and they will leave as early and stay out as late as your wallet will allow.
Here is what Deb's Site says:

VIP Cruises are available on the Grand1, a 45-foot Sea Ray 450 Express Bridge yacht, offering private dining, butler service, and a captain. Cruises are for 1-13 people, starting at $375.58 per hour, with a one-hour minimum. Call 407-824-2682 for information/reservations. 48-hour cancellation notice required or you will be charged in full.

Also, here is a link to a RADP Party that we had a few years ago....

When I got a live person, I said, "I'd like to make a reservation for a Specialty Cruise." The very nice person on the other end said, "OK, would you like to see Illuminations on that cruise?"

It was very simple. The only (slight) confusion was when she assumed I wanted a pontoon boat, and I had to stop her speech about pontoons and tell her that I wanted The Breathless.

Best Wishes with your reservation!

Crazy Hakim I have a very different opinion of the cruise. I don't believe it is worth the $250 especially in the slow season. You can find lots of better views for free without staking out a spot hours before. I am sure others agree with me as well. I know the 9 people on our boat all agreed.

ReneeNot me, I'll take the cruise over the masses anyday of the week.

OK, this may be a silly question, but how do you work out payment for sharing a cruise? I mean lets say I agree to share a cruise with the "Smith" family on a certain date. How are they guaranteed that I am going to show up the night of the cruise? (I might be quite a shady character, you know! :smooth: )No, but really, if I pay them the night of the cruise what happens if say someone gets sick, or we can't make it for some other reason? Or what if we paid ahead of time and the "Smiths" cancel the cruise? I am not doubting the integrity of anyone, I am just wondering how everyone works these things out.

I have been wondering the same thing, I'd love to do the criise, but now, with the increased prices, and as there are only two of us, I think we would want to share.

I don't think paying for a shared cruise is too difficult. If you, the Smith family holds the reservation, and you find the Jones family to share it with you, the Jones's show up the night of the cruise at the appointed time and pay you the price you want before you let them board the boat. If they don't show up, or balk at your price, you cruise without them.
What's hard about that?

If you are the Jones's you show up when and where told, pay the Smith's what you agree it's worth, and you enjoy the cruise. If you don't show up or don't want to pay, the Smith's sail with out you.

If the "other party" is an "established" DISer, I think you can have some confidence in that. On the other hand, I would do my best not to let it ruin my night/vacation if the other party doesn't show. Cell phones help with that, but (as hard as it might be) I would try to not let it bother me too much as there are so many things that can happen. One common scenario is when the weather is bad and yet the cruise still sails. One party is committed to pay, the other...

We will (hopefully) be booking this cruise for our December 2006 trip and I think I will probably list the extra seats with a "Buy It Now" option on eBay within one month of the trip, with payment via PayPal and a stipulation that if the cruise doesn't sail, the money will be refunded. That way, if the other party doesn't show up, we don't get stuck paying the extra money ourselves... and the other party can be confident we actually made the reservation and will show up because they would have recourse against us via eBay (hence listing it 30 days or less in advance). I would feel more comfortable committing to spending $250.00 that way. ~Ev

I was lucky and got both Wishes and Illuminations last summer. I posted that I had room for more people on this board. A very nice lady from New Jersey and her family wanted to share both cruises. The way we worked the payment was she paid half when we agreed to share and half when we met for the cruise. Worked out fine for us.

I've got Illuminations booked for June 2nd and I will be posting that on here to share with another family. I think you can pretty much trust most of the people here.

Has anyone ever taken a baby on the IllumiNations cruise? Is it too loud for them. I was there myself last year but I can not remember how loud it exactly was making me think it wasn't that bad if it doesn't stand out in my memory. TIA for responses.

My family is going July 31 - Aug 4. (I know we are not in the booking window yet but I plan ahead). We have a family of 5 and I am thinking of booking a cruise. Don't know whether the Illuminations or Wishes yet, will discuss either. A pontoon for the Wishes with Audio would be $250 and we would have room for another family of 5.
If interested pm me. Thanks

yes my party of four 'fun loving scots'

me , my wife our 10 year old daughter and the wifes best friend will be in thw world from the 6th july for two weeks ...pop century..

we are looking to share aboat trip with anyone that has one booked around the 12 to 17 th july.

the problem I have is that its going to be nigh on impossble for me to book it from this end ...time differences and coupled with my villages antiquated phone system the likely hood of me getting thorugh and getting booked for illuminations makes it such that we are looking to share the experience with somebody stateside who has luckily got booked and has space to spare...

and have no fears were no tights scots and will gladly pay oor ways ...lol

so if anyone has room and is up for a laugh then gees a call as they say in ma part o the world

cheers an aw ra best from bonnies scotland

I booked an IC cruise that I shared with several DISers in April 2004. We divided the cost of the cruise by the number of families (4). Each family mailed me their share of the cruise before the trip. This worked out well for us.

I've seen groups post about paying the day of and some paying in advance

So the price for the Breathless has increased, too?? It is listed as $175 + tax on the initial thread here. We were planning to try to reserve the Breathless for our family of 5 when our window opens this Sunday, but now I'll have to think about it. I might do the pontoon instead if it's the same price, and hope we can get another family to share...

After I booked our first Breathless cruise (we're going on 2), I got a little panicky about the cost, because I thought it was wrong......

So, I called back & confirmed & was told of the recent price increase & the added amenities (chips & drinks)....

It was somewhere around $237 + tax, which equalled $250.

I Hope This Helps!

Yes, currently all IllumiNations Cruises are $250 for the basic cruise, including soft drinks, water, and snacks.

Pontoon Boats hold 10 guests, Breathless holds 7 guests.

We are going 6/8-6/12...I called around noon on the first day I could book and got an Illuminations cruise from the Yacht Club. I called a few days later and booked the Grand 1 at the Grand Floridian for Wishes. It will be a blast! I know the Grand 1 is a little spendy...but...it holds 14, so the cost could be split up more, and as my Grandpa always said...."It only costs a little more to go First Class"!!! Have fun on your cruises!! I plan on taking lots of pictures!!

FYI, usually they have two performances of IllumiNations on NYE, and usually they offer specialty cruises on both.
The early performance should be standard pricing, $250.00 for the boat.
The midnight performance will be MUCH higher, closer to $500.00 per boat.

I say usually and should be because all of this information is subject to change. Last year they originally planned not to offer the cruises on the early performance, then decided within the last 7 days to open them up to WDW-PLAY.

Hi, all

I tried to send this message before, but I can't find it, so I'll try again; sorry if the other one shows up! :)

Well, my obsessive personality paid off -- I started calling the reservations number at 6:55 this morning (the opening of our 90 day window), and the first time the system answered that they were open, I pushed my preset button to go through the menu items. I was not put on hold, so as soon as I got a real person, I just blurted "I need a Breathless specialty cruise at 8 pm on June 24!" Did I really NEED to do it that way? Who knows? But I got it!

In case anyone is wondering what I mean about my preset, (it might help for CRT or some other hard-to-get reservation, too), on my phone the memory buttons can be programmed to dial a series of numbers with pauses. So I programmed one of the buttons to dial: "3 - pause - 2 - pause - my phone number # - pause - 1 - pause - 2" and it worked like a charm. I did not have to listen to any of the prompts as it worked through the menu to get to a reservationist. I'm not sure if all phones that have memory buttons can do this, and I would definitely try a "dry run" before your actual date to make sure it works -- I know I did!

Good luck to anyone trying to reserve a cruise -- I can't wait!

And yes, it is $250...ouch! But what an experience, by all accounts. My kids (14, 17, & 20) will love the Breathless, as will DH & I. And not only is Epcot our favorite park, but Illuminations is one of our very favorite things to see in all of WDW.

Yes, I can.....
There are 5 pontoon boats and Breathless. They fit 3 across under each side of the bridge between UK and France (3 on each side).
When you call 90 days in advance they only book Breathless and 3 of the pontoons. One pontoon is held back for the Yacht & Beach Concierge, if they do not book the 4th pontoon it drops into the normal DRS system 7 days in advance, so it's good to check on this morning again.
The remaining pontoon boat is set aside for visitors on the Grand Plan (Platinum Plan), and this boat will fill with various parties until a maximum of ten guests is reached. If this pontoon is not booked by any guests, it is available only the day of the show, and only by checking at Bayside Marina, it will NOT be available thru the DRS system. Just stop in at Bayside Marina during the day (between 10am and 5pm) ans ask at the window (they usually will post a sign in the window).

I'm considering booking a cruise for our August trip. Some quick questions:

* For a Wishes pontoon, is there a resort that is "better" to leave from than another? Poly? GF? WL? Contemp? THinking about setting dinner plans and wondering if one marina or route to MK and wishes is better than another...

* If the fireworks are at 10 pm, what time do I ask for the cruise to be, or do I just say, "Wishes fireworks, August 12!" when I get through and they know when to schedule it?

* On the Illum. cruises... has there ever been an issue with the smoke? Often in the summer, if the humidity gets high and air is heavy, the smoke will cloud the area and, depending upon where you are, be downright blinding / asphixiating! Has anyone ever had an issue with this on a cruise? Or not being able to see the fireworks because of the smoek in the air? Last trip we stood near France and within one blast - that was it. We saw NOTHING after that. Would hate to pay big bucks for that same experience!

If you don't get Wishes piped in - can you hear it? Are there so many boats that DO have it piped in that you hear it anyway?

Thanks in advance for whatever help you can give! :goodvibes THis would be a really nice treat for DH on our anniversary, and something the kids would love as well!

Hello!
I have read through the first dozen pages of this thread, but didn't see an answer and then couldn't get myself to keep reading through the remaining 40 pages. So I hope I am not asking a redundant question...

My DFi and I will be marrying in DWD in January and wanted to cap off our wedding day with an Illuminations cruise for ourselves and our small group of guests.

I was wondering if the cruise ever gets cancelled for any reason. I know that Illuminations may be cancelled... but I was wondering about the cruise itself.

Also, I read a post earlier that someone had taken champagne on the cruise... would that be allowed?

Thanks for your help in advance! :cool1:

1. I think you mean, do they ever decide at Bayside Marina NOT to send out the boats? Yes, on a rare occasion that lightning is in the area a call will be made by the Coordinator's not to send the boats out. They do everything possible and wait until the last minute to make this decision, but it is for the safety of the guests and the CM's.
2. You can order Champagne, Finger Foods, or just about anything to be served on the cruise, you handle these arrangements directly with Yacht Club Private Dining, although it is helpful to advise the marina that these arrangements have been made in advance.

2. You can order Champagne, Finger Foods, or just about anything to be served on the cruise, you handle these arrangements directly with Yacht Club Private Dining, although it is helpful to advise the marina that these arrangements have been made in advance.

Thank you so much for your response, Mike!

That would make absolute sense re: not sending out the boats due to lightning. :bounce:

But I do have an additional question about ordering champagne and such with the Yacht Club. Once the order is placed with YC Private Dining, would we have to pick up the order ourselves at the YC before the cruise or does it get sent down to the boat ready for boarding? details, details!!

Thanks again! :cheer2:

OK, when you order with Private Dining, you deal directly with them, you make your payment directly to them (room or credit card), then they will deliver "whatever" directly to Bayside Marina prior to your departure.

Cruislovin,
That's too bad. We are leaving on June 3rd so I was hoping that you were ending on June 3rd and not just beginning. My mother and I are doing the Illuminations cruise on May 31st and thought that it would be fun to have another mother-daughter combo! Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Yes, I agree - that would have been great! But we will miss each other.

Enjoy your special time together! My daughter and I were at WDW last October for 4 days and it was fantastic! Can't wait to do it again!

I am sure that the answer is here somewhere, so I apologize in advance.
Can a Wishes Cruise be booked on a night of MNSSHP? Would rather book it a night that we won't be in the park late anyhow.
Thanks!

Save your money
We took the illuminations cruise 4/26/06. We go to WDW atleast twice a year. Illuminations is by far our favorite fireworks show. We go atleast twice each visit.
For a special treat I surprised my family by booking the illuminations cruise. We were all thrilled. It's an extra expense. What a waste. First of all the evening was cold. That was ok because we were dressed for it. We got there early. Took the ride down to MGM and across to BW and then we parked under the bridge to watch the show.
First of all the "captain of our boat " was very nice, but didn't go out of her way to point out anything, other that the swan and dolphin have mixed up statues. The refreshments were we each got a choice of a bag of pretzels or potato chips and either water or pop. That was still OK.
Parking under the bridge----3 boats on either side of the middle structure--which might be OK if you one of the 2 center boats----but we weren't. We would have had a better view up top. Plus the kicker----the show was shortrer. The part were all the kids sing---didn't happen. the lasers between building---didn't happen. And then we were back home. 2 nights later we went to illuminations---and guess what---they had the whole show...we mentioned this to the person at the marina that night and he said "Oh NO-----that never happened!!!!" Guess what it did!

>Save your money
Definitely a matter of opinion.

>We took the illuminations cruise 4/26/06.
Hmmm, 13 days from today? Was that via Time Tunnel?

>For a special treat I surprised my family by booking the illuminations cruise. We were all thrilled. It's an extra expense. What a waste. First of all the evening was cold. That was OK because we were dressed for it.
Blame Disney for the cold weather?

>The refreshments were we each got a choice of a bag of pretzels or potato chips and either water or pop.
There is no "limit", not one per person....

>Parking under the bridge----3 boats on either side of the middle structure--which might be OK if you one of the 2 center boats----but we weren't.
The two middle spots? All 6 spots are just about equal in view, the further right you park (closer to France) the slightly longer before you see the globe moving to the center of the lake, but the majority of the show happens directly in front of all 6 boats.

>We would have had a better view up top.
If you had secured a space early enough, and stood there and guarded you spots.

>Plus the kicker----the show was shorter. The part were all the kids sing---didn't happen.
Cannot see this happening, the show is sequenced and automatic, I cannot fathom how the middle of the show was skipped.

>the lasers between building---didn't happen.
I have no idea what you expected, I do not recall seeing lasers between the buildings, definitely have lasers making a waving water effect when the globe is making its way to the center of the lake..... but between the buildings?

>we mentioned this to the person at the marina that night and he said "Oh NO-----that never happened!!!!" Guess what it did!
I would tend to agree with the CM who sees the show many more times than any normal guest.

>Save your money get PS at rose and crown---you can see better, and not spend the money

Well, it is all a matter of opinion. I for one than the view from the boat is the best view, absolutely nothing between you and the show, you are at water level, and your view seems to be ideal for the fireworks positions through the show. Add to that, you are seated on a couch like, padded seat! You arrive minutes before the show begins, you are relaxed, and don't have to fight the crowd after the show.

Can anybody else back me up?

I'll back you up - like everything at WDW it's about opinions - if we all liked the same thing it would be pretty boring!

I personally loved the experience of the cruise and would love to do it again.

We went on our Illuminations cruise last Monday. First off we had PERFECT weather, so many stars our it was just beautiful. We had a total of 11 ppl ( 2 of them were 3 years old) we were all very comfortable and honestly could have fit a couple more on. On Captain was Nadia and she was very entertaining. We had a cooler full of water and sodas as well as a large amount of different types of chips and pretzels. We took a very nice ride around the lake them parked under the bridge. It was the little girls birthday on the boat next to us so all of the boats sang happy birthday to her. (it was cute cause my daughter asked if we brought the little girl a present). We had perfect viewing for the show. The fireworks were great and I would not have changed anything about our ride.

We have been going to Disneyworld almost every year since I was about 7 years old (I am 28 now). My dad is the type that goes all out for vacation and My husband and I surprised our whole family with this cruise as a "thank you" for the trip. My dad was shocked that in all his years of being a dedicated disney traveler and trying to do all the "special" things that he never knew about the specialty cruises.

My whole family was extremly greatful for the cruise and I have to say it was a great way to end a fun day at Epcot and a nice way for the whole family to relax together.

We are not a extremly wealthy family ourselves but we did not think that the $250 was a ton to pay for something so "exclusive".

I can see if you did not have good weather that the cruise would be a bummer but our trip was nothing less than perfect!!!

On a side note 2 boats by us were decorated for birthdays and they had a b-day banner and balloons, it was a very nice touch :wizard:

I didn't get the park hopper tickets and only days I have time are not the day of Epcot....

Nope, you never enter Epcot thru the gates and after the show, you go back to the dock.

I back up as well. It was wonderful. Did it a couple years ago. Was lucky to hook up with a family from here on the board who let me share the cruise with them. I hope I can do the same this year for a Wishes cruise. Almost got my wish last year but the cruise got cancelled last year due to changes the family I was to join had to cancel. I will be looking for another family this year whom will let me join them. When everyone on the cruise splits the bill it really is not all that expensive for a once in a lifetime experiance.

Yes, 7pm, you would never make it to Bayside Marina by 8pm.
Always figure 1-hour before any fireworks, so if Wishes is is at 10, plan on being at the correct dock at 9.

1. Are the Wishes cruises just as hard to book as Illuminations cruises?
2. How many boats are available for Wishes?

1. No, more boats, easier to book.
2. Educated guess:
Wilderness Lodge - 5 Boats
Contemporary - 2 Boats
Grand - 2 Boats
Poly - 1 Boat
That's 10, but they can pull some boats from Fort Wilderness, and this is just a "typical" figure, there are a few more boats at the Poly, the Grand, & the Contemporary.
If I was to take a guess at the total number of boats, aside from the Grand Gathering Boats, and The Grand 1 Yacht, I would guess that there are 16 pontoons at their disposal, but aside from special holidays (4th of July, NYE) I would say that the total number available in the normal CRO system is closer to 10.

Yes, you are correct, between Thanksgiving and NYE IllumiNations is moved from 9pm to 9:30pm so an not to interfere with The Candlelight Processional at American Gardens Theater. So, everything is moved 1/2 hour later, check in at 8:30, depart around 8:45, presentation at 9:30pm, back at Bayside Marina about 10pm.
ALL cruises sail from Bayside Marina which is on the Yacht Side (a short walk from the Beach Club, The BoardWalk, The Swan and Dolphin). But, you can be dropped off at any dock that is still open and lit after IllumiNations (International Gateway, BoardWalk, Swan & Dolphin, or MGM).
Just ask for the IllumiNations Specialty Cruise.

FYI, I was at Bayside Marina last night, Cap't Ron told me that they are getting brand new pontoon boats, so far only one has come in. They are almost identical to the current 24 foot pontoon boats, no major design changes, same color scheme.
Also, a reminder, I have two Kodak Photo Albums On-Line, one of the pontoon boats and one of Breathless, if you would like to see these, you have to PM me your personal e-mail address.

I have it booked for August 27, 2006 for Wishes, leaving from the Contemporary around 9:15pm (estimate).
Please pm me if you are interested and I'll give you more info.

**I also wanted to add that we are a family of 5 (me, dh, 15 ds, 9 dd, 9 ds). Reserved pontoon that is the premium with soda, snacks, and wishes music piped in***

Yes, 90 days, NOT 3 months, I always count back-wards on a calender to be sure I call on the earliest day. Good Luck!

I discovered that too when I called WDW-PLAY. I guess 180 days is only for DINE ADR. I am going to be at WDW same dates at POR for MNSSHP/F&W. I've never booked a Illuminations or Wishes cruises. We're a family of four as well. Let me know if you have any luck.

If by any chance someone has a cruise booked on June 30th and has room for two more, I'd be very very very interested in joining you. My g/f and I will be visiting that night and she has just gone through a very traumatic loss and I'm looking for a little pixie dust to cheer her up! If anyone has a room for two young adults (22) on a cruise that night we'd be very interested and of course would chip in our share, please e-mail at shawn@ILGTG.com ! Thanks and God Bless.

I'm sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place. I was looking for the July Post list but am not able to find it anywhere.

I am looking for ANY openings on ANY of the specialty cruises for the dates of July 1-10, 2006. This may be a long shot but we are a family of 5 (myself, DW, DD12, DS10 & DD6).

If anyone has room and is looking for someone to share expenses, please send a pm or reply here.

Thank you.

Looking for Wishes Cruise Info.

1. Am I at the correct thread? The search feature is not working
2. I am planning on going on August 23rd and can not find reviews of wishes
Has anybody been?
3. I am staying at CR with MK view on Concierge level. Does anybody know if the cruise is worth while as I imagine my view from CR will be nice as well

I have just been on to Disney and apparently most dates are available for my time 16-28th July. Cost is prohibitive on my own anyone want to share before I book. There are up to 6 places available. Can't go on 20th or 21st July. Please pm me with details. We are looking at about £15 per person.

we did the wishes premium cruise in january and LOVED IT!!! it was awesome! the kids were speechless (which is a very rare occurance w/my kids! LOL!)

that being said, if i were staying at the CR w/concierge and the ability to watch it from the hotel, i'd probably skip the cruise... but i'd keep trying for the illuminations one... and if that were unavailable i'd find another "special" to spend that money on (fishing excursion, race car, surfing lessons, dolphin dive, horseback riding, golf, etc)... but that's just mnsho!

Have a question...
Since they change the time of Illuminations for Dec (to 9:30) what time do you ask for when calling to reserve a "specialty cruise". Normally you ask for the 8pm cruise for Illuminations at 9PM, so do you ask for the 8:30 cruise??? Or am I overthinking things??

No you don't. Neither Wishes or Illuminations cruises require park admission.

All of the Wishes cruises leave from MK resorts and return to that resort.

Is there anyway we can setup a thread for August Cruises, like someone did for September? This thread is so hard to get through, and it would be nice if someone is going in August if they could easily find the posts that are offering cruises/looking for spots on cruises. Does the moderator do that, or can we start a new thread just for August?

Doug,

All boats depart from Bayside Marina at the Yacht Club.
That's now where all of the boats are docked, that's where the cashier is to settle payment on the boat.
But, you can be dropped off after the presentation at any open dock (Epcot, Yacht & Beach Club, Boardwalk, Swan & Dolphin, or MGM).

I knwo this is Illuminations Cruise....but I have a Wishes cruise reservation that I really cannot afford. I have the reservation for August 29 on a premium boat meaning that the music is piped into the boat. The price is $250 including the taxes.
Instead of just cancelling it and leaving it up for grabs to just anyone I would rather give it to someone on here. The boat holds 12 people. Let me know if someone would be intrested. Email is billiej@libertytravel.com

How is it? Is the music piped into the pontoon boat? When they say they park you under a bridge, is it close enough to see the show with a good view? That is alot of money for a 45 minute boat ride and I have always wanted to try this, but want to be sure!

Thanks if anyone has info :goodvibes

1. It's great.
2. Don't need music piped in, you are next to two large speakers, no problem hearing the show.
3. Very close to fireworks, can feel the heat from the flame barge.
4. View is unobstructed, nobody standing in front of you, no trees in the way, and you are at water level.
5. It's much more reasonable if you are lucky enough to split all costs with another family.

Thank you Crazy Hakim!
I was fortunate enough to book a cruise for Sept. 3rd. This will be our first trip home as DVC members and I am very excited, as we are staying at the Boardwalk. What I am not excited about, is the fact my in-laws (MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL and a few rugrats all of whom I'd rather not deal with) are going to be there for 2 of our 4 nights. I am trying to figure out how I can convince my DH to split the cost of this cruise with another deserving DIS family, instead of treating his thankless family to this cruise, all on our dime. :rotfl2:
BTW, I am not kidding. I will work on this mercilessly and will let those who need a cruise the 3rd know if I pull this off. Wish me luck and PD.
