Does anyone know where the Breathless sits to watch Illuminations?
I am just concerned it will sit behind the pontoon boats and we won't be able to see over them or does it sit in between them under the bridge?

OOOHHH!!! I KNOW I KNOW!!!! :hyper: We went on the Breathless last year, SO FUN! We pulled just out from under the bridge, next to the pontoon boats. It was SPECTACULAR!!! And, we were the last ones there. Our view was wonderful!! We SOOOO want to go back on the Breathless again. It was super cool!!!

Thanks for putting my mind at rest. I was worried about getting squished out behind the pontoons.

Hello,
The boats sit under the archway bewtween France & UK. The arch is split, with three boats on each side. If you are coming from France, position 1 is closest to France, while position 6 is closest to UK. Breathless occupies position 3, alongside the arch in the middle. It is not behind any boats.
Hope that makes sense.
Take care,

I've just been lucky enough to book Breathless II for an Illumnations cruise in August  I was quoted $275 + tax + tip.
My question, being a Brit and therefore a novice at tipping, is do I tip at 15%-20% as I would in a Disney restaurant? Or is the expection different for this type of service.
I just want to make sure I reward the driver properly and don't unintentionally "insult" him/her by under-tipping.
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

We're just back from Disney and were lucky enough to do both the Illuminations and Wishes cruises. In each case, we gave the captain $50 as a tip. We shared the cruise with other DIS-ers (10 total) and each person paid $29 for the cruise (which costs a total of $292.88 with tax) plus $5 tip. Both captains were extremely appreciative.
You're going to have a wonderful time! I absolutely love the Illuminations cruise and wish I could afford to do it several times each trip.

We are 2 adults in late-40s interested in booking a Wishes cruise (with audio) between Sept 7-15. My husband knows I have wanted to do this for a while, but he couldn't justify the cost for just the 2 of us. :faint: The good news is that whenever I call for anything, I am usually lucky and can get what I want. The bad news is that I can't guarantee audio ;) but would like to work with a group of people interested in this! Anyone else interested in sharing a Wishes cruise in Sept?

Sure wish you could wait just a few more days (till the 21st) and then I would be right there on board with you. We are 2 adults (later 40's) taking our 4 year old granddaughters and would love to share a wishes cruise also. But we won't be there till the 21st of September.

For everyone that has taken both an Illuminations cruise and a Wishes cruise, was one better than the other? I worry about not being able to see as well on the Wishes cruises. We have taken an illuminations cruise and LOVED it. What are your thoughts?

A couple of questions here about Illuminations Cruises:
1) Is the $50 tip noted by a poster above for the captain considered by most of you who have have done this a reasonable tip? I'm still a bit confused about this since I've heard $25 thrown about as well. But, on reconsidering it, that seems pretty low since it would be less than even 10% of the cost of the boat now.
2) On the first page of this thread, it says the Pontoon boats will seat up to 12, if some are children. But when I called the reservations number for the cruises I was told 10 was an absolute limit regardless of whether or not some are kids. The reason why I'm asking is I've already got 8 people for a cruise for July 28th with a family of 2 adults and one five year old asking if they could join. Could the CM not have accurate info here or is the general info at the beginning of the thread inaccurate?
Thanks for any insights you might have on these matters!

Hi Wendy,

My family will be going to Disney at the end of September. Our anniversary is on 9/23 and I have already booked the Neverland Club for our daughter for that evening. We have ADRs for Teppan Edo at 7:15. I'd love to surprise my wife with an Illuminations cruise after dinner.
Do you think that we will have time for the dinner and then to catch the cruise before the fireworks begin or is this cutting it too close?

Nope, check in for the cruise is at 8pm. If you book a cruise, change your ADR to around 6pm. You wouldn't want to have to rush through dinner.

I give $60. I tip 20% I don't think that $50 is unreasonable, but $25 is just cheap, unless the captain was a real dud (NEVER seen that, though!)

A lot has changed since the first page of this thread. The number of passengers has officially changed to 10, last I heard. What the captain may allow once you're there at the dock...hard to say. I wouldn't plan on any more than 10 passengers, though. It's pretty full with 10 people.

Okay- Now that the November hours are out, it looks like the night we were hoping to do a Wishes Cruise is a night when the MK has MVMCP. According to the calender Wishes is at 6:00pm, which is too early for our plans. Do they let you book a Wishes cruise to see the MVMCP fireworks or would the 6pm fireworks be our only choice? Thanks

Hello,
You can book either the regular, 6:00pm Wishes, or the later 9:30pm Christmas Wishes. Make sure you specify which one you want when you call in, sometimes the operators are not too up to date on things. If you get someone who tells you that you can't do it, call back and get another operator. It's usually a slow time of year cruise wise, so it's easy to get the date you want.
Hope that helps,
Take care,
Bill

I didn't see an answer somewhere else on the board, so I'll ask it at the risk of repeating an old question. I got the platinum plan for my honeymoon in August, and it comes with a cruise for wishes and illuminations. We booked wishes, and I'm wondering, is it the same cruise everyone on here is talking about, or is it something else? Do they fill it with platinum plan people?

First, Congrats on your upcoming nuptials! Wishes is discussed here, but it is mostly IllumiNations topics. They are both cruises on pontoon boats to watch Disney Fireworks. Wishes is at the Magic Kingdom, and IllumiNations is at Epcot's World Showcase Lagoon.
>Do they fill it with platinum plan people?
Yes, most boats can hold up to 10 ppl, so you may be the only 2 on the boat, or you may be with other groups/families/couples. It's booked on a first come, first served basis and the number of guests on the boat will vary from night to night.

thank you for the info. I was wondering if it would be some big boat packed with 100 people or if it was the same one that others could book (that sounded really nice) and now I know. I'm not so worried about being uncomfortable anymore. Thanks again!:hippie:

We have a Specialty Cruise to share with other friendly Dis'ers to view Wishes outside of the Magic Kingdom in the Seven Seas Lagoon at 9:00 on August 31.
It'll be myself, DH, and DD1. (She's a cool, friendly baby, not afraid of fireworks!)
The total is $290 + tip, divided by however many people we have going with us. (up to 10) So far we need 5 more.
We went on this same cruise in 2006, it was AMAZING. We got pics of fireworks, it's also a little boat tour, and they supply sodas and snacks.
PM me if you're interested!

Can I ask a sharing question? When one family shares with another family (say, from the Dis), what is the typical exchange of money process? Do people just bring cash and pay when they get there? Pay ahead of time? Will Disney split the cost for you (probably not, but just asking)? I've only rented the little run around boat for just my family- not shared a pontoon...
HELP! We want to share this year (Dec 11, 12, or 13).... but don't know how! :confused3

Most groups decide on a price per person, let's say $35.00 and the person who made the reservation collects cash from each and then pays at the window. But, they can do just about anything at the window, room card, credit card, cash, and they can split or divide the total between two (or more) cards, or cards and cash.......
The $275 (plus tax) does not include any sort of gratuity.

I booked a cruise yesterday for September. I have four definites in my party. I posted and found a party of two and a party of three and need two more as backup. I told them the $275+50(tip)=$325 divided between 10 people $32.50 per person. I'll collect cash when we board. I'm keeping it in good faith. The parties wanted to pay immediately but you know how real life may get in the way of fun vacation and things pop up so instead of paying now and having to refund, I'll just keep it in good faith. I also ordered a birthday package for my two kids for an additional $44.50 but we're paying for that. I hope this helps just keep looking on this site. Also in "search" put in the month you're looking for and "illuminations" or "wishes" cruise and it narrows it down to the month you're looking for. Good Luck

$275+50(tip)=$325 divided between 10 people $32.50 per person.
FYI, the $275 does not include Fla State Sales Tax.
So, it's $275 plus 7%
$295.00 for the Cruise

What Mike says...you must take the tax into account. I know that the tip is strictly optional, but I'd hate to see the captain forgotten because of a miscalculation.
I tip 20% on the pre-tax amount, which is $55. Added into the total with tax, the cost with tip for my party would be $350. Divided by 10, you've got $35 per person for a party of 10.
(I actually threw in an extra $10 last cruise, because I liked our captain so much)

Are the exact directions on the first page still correct?
I want to schedule a boat to see Illiminations in December. I really want this to work out so I do not want to mess it up pushing the wrong number. Those of you who have done it recently, did you follow the directions to a tee?
Also if Illuminations is at 9:30 PM what time will the boat leave? We have dinner at Ohana at 6:30 and we want to see Illuminations after that. Will that work?

I called and reserved one last week. It's pretty easy, actually. I just remember the first prompt being for boat rental, and the second being 1. :) I asked to book a "Wishes Specialty Cruise" and they knew exactly what I was talking about. You shouldn't have any problem.
Depending on the time that Wishes is at, you *might* not be able to get to Illuminations, because you have to get back to the Marina, then to EPCOT, etc. But, nothing is impossible! (Ok, few things are ;) )

Do a test call a couple of days ahead of time. My suggestion? Hit the prompts for "visiting in the next 7 days"...it skips a lot of the marketing stuff. Also if it asks if you're staying in a Disney resort, say no...that way it's not tied to your reservations, and you don't have to bother entering in a bunch of reservation numbers. I don't remember what the prompts are exactly, but you will NOT screw it up if you make the easier/quicker prompt choices...when you actually talk to a LIVE CM, you can have it entered properly.
Also, when you do the test run, make note of the prompt orders. You don't have to wait til the spiel is finished before you hit the next prompt...gives you the upper hand, believe me. I've never missed out on an IllumiNations reservation, and I've reserved at fairly busy times...I even got the Breathless II with no problem.

Kim, I don't want a Wishes one. I want an Illuminations Cruise.
From what I understand you can only put 10 people on board and I have 17 people so I guess that will be two boats! :rotfl2:
I tried Grand Gatherings to see if they could put something together but they referred me to Meetings. I emailed them and am not waiting on a response from them.
Man getting this all together this year is so complicated. It is good thing I have long distance included in my home phone. I hate to count the hours have spent on hold!:lmao:

I am going to have to work on this one a bit before my 90 day out mark which is in September.
Another thing that just hit my brain. Is it too cold at night in early December to enjoy a Specially Cruise?:confused3
Some nights yes, most nights no, it's beautiful. This past December (first week) it was absolutely gorgeous...no jackets necessary. A couple of Christmases ago, it was so cold that we wore winter parkas and STILL needed blankets! But usually it's light jacket weather.

If you're still looking for people to share your Sept 11 cruise we'd love to join you. It would be my boyfriend and I, both in our late twenties, with his 2 year niece. Let me know if you still have room, thanks!!

Do you think it would be possible to pack our own picnic and bring it to one of the resorts and eat near the dock if we brought our own picnic. I know you can't bring things about the cruise. We have a cruise booked and it leaves at 7:00 from either the Contemporary, Wilderness, GF of Polynesian. I was hoping to have an early dinner or appetizers at one of the places but have had no luck whatsoever with reservations for 5:00 or 5:30. I'm definately not trying to get out of paying for something I just wanted to:
1. go to resort we were leaving from
2. have a nice dinner at 5:30
3. go on wonderful cruise
Any suggestions.

Hi!
I just got off the phone with WDW Recreation. I have secured a reservation for a speciality cruise on Sep. 22, 2008.
I must admit I am utterly confused. The rep did not seem to know much about the cruises. He also had an accent which I - not being a native speaker - had much trouble to understand.
I was told both that the boat has a capacity of 10 people and that my reservation was only for a party of 2. The way I understand resources on the Internet, this leaves 8 empty seats which I can fill at no additional cost. Correct?
The cost of the cruise is $292 including tax. I actually don't know which cruise - Epcot or Magic Kingdom - this buys me. Pick-up will be at Beach Club marina. Unfortunately I did not catch at what time. I'll have to call back and hope for another rep to clarify this.
Should I be allowed to bring additional guests, I would love to share this cruise with other board members and split cost. Just PM me. I guess I'll have to call Disney so they stock up on beverages to match the party size.
Again: I am utterly confused as to the party size. Hope someone here can clarify.

Yes, YOU rented the entire boat for the flat fee. 2ppl or 10ppl, no change in price. It;s your boat, do with it as you please.

The Marina is really on the Yacht Club side, just to the right of the Lighthouse. So, for sure, you have an IllumiNations Cruise.

Don't be confused, you can be a total of 10 guests. You must be at the Marina by 8pm to check in and pay for the cruise. They credit card they take is just to hold the reservation, your card will not be charged unless you do not show up for your cruise.
If you have any more questions there are many here who can provide answers.

I have a question...we have an Illuminations cruise booked for Sept 21. Are we allowed to bring our own refreshments, as in a couple of beers for the men to enjoy? I know it can be ordered through Disney to be on the boat, but I didn't know if we could just bring it ourselves.

Posted this in the August specific page, then saw the massive thread here - my husband and I (both in our mid twenties and so excited about our first trip to WDW together) are interested in a cruise (either show, Wishes or Illuminations) to share if anyone has two spots still open Aug 6, 7, 8, 10, or 11... I know this might be a little late, but I just found this great forum!
I'm willing to move around any dining reservations as needed if we get spots on one of these - they sound awesome! So we'd probably be able to do Aug 9 as well if I can get a different res time for Narcoossee's...

I just booked the Premium Wishes cruise for Tuesday, August 19th. :cool1: I was told this was the last Premium pontoon for the evening.
We are a party of three (single mom with two DSs - ages 19 & 14). We have room for seven additional people.
The pontoon will have an audio feed and the cost of the cruise includes water, soda and bagged snacks.
We must arrive at dock at the Polynesian resort no later than 9:00 pm. We will be departing from the dock at 9:30pm. Wishes is scheduled to begin at 10:00 pm.
The total cost is $336.81 (this includes a tip for the Captain). The per person cost will depend on the total number of people taking this cruise.
Send me a PM if you are interested in joining us for this Wishes cruise.

Edited to add the following:
Five spaces are now spoken for. That leaves two spots still available.
If you are interested in joining three single moms and their kids (ages 19, 14, 14, 7 & 6), send me a PM.

When you call to book you give a credit card to hold the boat. This will not be charged unless you do not show up. The night of your cruise you are required to "pay" for the cruise. You can use a room charge, a credit card, cash or Disney dollars. But, you will have to pay the night of the cruise, your credit card information is not available to the staff at the marina.

I am sure this has been answered but I have gone back a bit and cannot find the answer lol. If Illuminations is at 9:30 (2nd week in Dec) then what time would you need to be at the BW or BC? 1. Yes, the best "rule of thumb" is arrive at the marina an hour before the scheduled fireworks, weather it be Wishes or IllumiNations. And for IllumiNations you must always check in at Bayside Marina at the Yacht Club. They no longer allow pick-up at BoardWalk.
2. I am not sure exactly how long Spirit of Aloha is, maybe Deb Wills All Ears Web Site has the running time, but as far as dining, I always suggest at least a 2-hour window to dine at Disney. I always hate to rush a meal that I am paying a "pretty penny" for.

I am going to try to book an Illuminations cruise as part of the celebrations for DS's 9th birthday on 6th December. We have an ADR at Coral Reef for 18.35 (complete with personalised menu and diver requested!!). If Illuminations is not until 9.30pm would we have to check in for the boat at 8.00pm (as I thought) or not until 8.30pm? If it is 8.30pm we would just make it but if it is 8.00pm, I think we would have to try for the cruise on a different night.
Thanks for your help.

Since this is after Thanksgiving, IllumiNations will be 30 minutes later so as not to interfere with the Candlelight Processional. So you will have to arrive and check-in at 8:30pm at Bayside Marina.

Is it possible for the Breathless to drop you off at DHS after Illuminations instead of the Yacht Club?
If so, would it be likely they'd drop you off at the studios before 10PM closing, in order to catch the 10:30 Fantasmic show?

I doubt that you would have enough time to see Fantasmic after Illuminations. Fantasmic is usually filled to capacity an hour before it shows.

So Fantasmic is usually filled an hour before, even for the late showing? I was reading a thread yesterday with people saying you can get good seats for the 10:30 show at 10:00, or even 10:15 or so. It's all so confusing.

Nope, Breathless is only allowed to dock at the Bayside Marina and at the bridge for IllumiNations. These are the only two places that have adequate protection (bumpers) to prevent any damage to the wooden boat.

All 6 boats park under the bridge between UK and France. Three pontoons on the left side, Breathless and two pontoon on the right. In fair weather the boat front will protrude from under the bridge and most of the front half will be out from under the bridge. If it's raining, they can tie the boats so the front of the boat is covered. It does not obstruct the view. And yes, the boats are side by side.

I guess your asking me.....
The pontoon boats can drop off at any open dock (Epcot, Boardwalk, Swan & Dolphin, Hollywood Studios). HS is the only dock that may be closed after IllumiNations and it would be unsafe to drop off if the dock was closed and the lights out. The Friendship Boats should run to this dock until 1-hour after Hollywood Studios closes for the night.

We are staying at All Star Movies Resort and I am not sure the best/fastest way to get back to the resort. I realize we will need to take one of the buses but I am trying to find the best way with the least crowd. :rotfl: We have never done the cruise and I can only imagine how crowded the park will be after the fireworks and everyone trying to exit at the same time. Any help would be appreciated!!! THANKS!!!

My suggestion is that if MGM (Disney Studios) is still open that night after Epcot closes take a boat from Yacht Club over to MGM and take a bus to ASM. If not you'll have to go to DTD (or another park) by bus from the YC, BC, or Boardwalk and transfer to another bus to ASM. Or you can always park your car (if you're driving one) at any of the resorts for free (since you're staying at a Disney resort). Good luck!

Or, walk thru the Yacht Club lobby and hail a cab (usually have one or two waiting there). Got to be around 1 mile between Yacht Club and All Star.

I read that the cruises charge by the hour (can't remember now if it was $225 or $250 and hour). My question is - how long do they normally take? If you are planning a romantic Illuminations Cruise is an hour long enough? Should I plan/budget for longer?
I read the first post on this thread - but it is dated 2004, so wasn't sure if it's been updated (my guide book shows $225 an hour). Anyhow - it does say you can tip the captain, but some of the posts said they aren't allowed to accept. Does anyone know which is current?
Thank you in advance.

Actually my granddaughters are not twins, but they dads are identical twins (my sons)!

An Illuminations cruise lasts about an hour. The captain may take you on a jaunt before or after the fireworks, but you will be charged a flat fee for the specialty cruises, which last about an hour. The descriptions and prices can be found here...http://www.wdwinfo.com/recreation/fireworks.htm Oh, and if you want romantic, I really recommend the Breathless II if you can get it!

Please tip the captain for good service. It is not required, but it is certainly appreciated. I commonly tip 20%-25%, because I've always had exceptional service.

I'm confused about when you can call to reserve an illuminations cruise. I called today to double check and was told you can reserve 90 days from my arrival date. She even asked me what day I was arriving at the resort and told me what day I could call. But at the beginning of this thread it reads you can book 90 days from date you want to reserve. Was she incorrect, or have they changed the policy? I apologize if this is a repeat question-I tried to search but couldn't find. :confused3

It has audio feed on a pontoon boat for 10 people. I will not fill completely to add enough room for comfort, so price per person will be a bit higher. 293.00 + 35.00 (tip) = 328.00 divided by 8 = $41.00 per person.
I have myself, my 78 year young mother and my two adult daughters. (Girls trip for us, but Cruise is open to all).

Hi! I have been scanning the board and it looks like there are quite a few people looking for a cruise the same time I am like huff, gydell, ekidwell001, livingthedream, raraloveseeyore (and that's just off the first few pages!). So, how do we go about getting this together? While I love kids I would only want to go on an all adult cruise. No offence, but I don't want to be stuck on a boat with a tired child while I am trying to enjoy the moment. Sorry! How do we even find if there are any available? Does one person book it and the others just pay via paypal? Do we all pay then book (that seems like the least risky way). I am obviously very new to this so pardon my ignorance...

Hi all,
First time poster here. Love all things Disney.
Have never done one of the specialty cruises and would like to surprise the family (DH, DB, DSIL, DNeps & DNieces) with Illuminations or Wishes fireworks cruise, with the trimmings for a birthday celebration as well.
When I called today to book Illuminations (I'm 89 days out, but who's counting ;) ), I was told that I could only book for a party of 10 - no more. We total 8 adults, 2 children (7 and 4) and one little guy (1 yr old). I know I read somewhere that you could book the large pontoon boat for a party of 10, maybe 12 if children are included.
What's your experience w/the number of people allowed to cruise? I'd hate to book for a party of 10 and be turned away because I have 11!
Thanks!

I posted this on the September cruise sharing board, but haven't had any takers:
I have the Breathless Illuminations cruise booked for Wed. 9/24. The boat carries 6 passengers. We are a party of 3 looking for another 3 to share the cruise.
Diana
Just so you know...
Seating would be 1 in front with Captain,
2 in the far back, fairly incommunicado with the rest of the party, and
3 in the middle seat.
The 4 in the front have an easier time talking to each other, and sharing snacks and such, but the 2 in the back have a more difficult time (although it is by far the more romantic seating!).
Just a consideration when sharing the Breathless with another party...especially a 3/3 division like that. Ideally, you'll find another couple, plus a solo traveler to share with. JMO.

how important is it to get the cruise with the audio feed?
You only need the audio with the Wishes cruise and I think it's extremely important - because Wishes is such a special experience and the music combines with the fireworks to tell the story.
The illuminations cruises don't need audio because the music is played all throughout the world showcase and you're anchored under the bridge between France & the UK.
Enjoy your cruise! You will LOVE it.

Illuminations Cruise-Pontoon Boat Sept 23rd
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope Tumbalyna won't take offense if I use her posting as a template (it conveys just what I was trying to say, without offending anyone with children. )
We have an illuminations cruise booked for 9/23/08. there are 4 of us, myself, my dh, brother and sister-in-law. We are all 50ish and are very nice folks. Not partiers. We are looking for more nice folks who would like to share this cruise with us. It would be 30.00 a person plus drivers tip if we can get to full capacity of 10. We would prefer capactiy at 8, but will consider 10 which would make cost 38.00 a person plus drivers tip. This cruise leaves from the yacht and beach club @ 8 for the the 9pm illuminations. the cost includes snacks and sodas and taxes. Please advise if you are interested.
We also would like to agree with Tumbalyna's post "i know everyone is going to say their children are well behaved and i have met several children that are well behaved but are scared to death by fireworks, please make sure that if you want to share and you have small children they are not frightened by the sounds of the fireworks going off, from what i remember you are pretty close and the echoes can be quite loud"
Please let me know if anyone is interested in sharing by sending us a PM.

If you are trying to decide which cruise you should do, I would recommend the Wishes Cruise with audio. Last summer we did the Illuminations cruise and it was great, but I felt your view is somewhat obstructed and if the wind is blowing towards the bridge, you will see nothing. This year we did the Wishes fireworks cruise and it was the best thing ever. You are sitting on the boat, not confined at all, with an unobstructive view of the fireworks.

I've arranged for a cruise and have four other groups joining us and wondering how folks dealt with this. I'm assuming that everyone will show up as planned and give us cash. I'm just a bit worried that if someone doesn't show up how to handle -- do I need to pay the extra $80 or would I divide by the folks showing up? Or does anyone ask for payment in advance. I just don't know what I should do. Any input would be appeciated. Thanks! Have a magical day.

We took off from Wilderness Lodge when we took the wishes cruise in May. Here's a map of the property http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/wildlodge.htm and the pier you want to take is by building #19 (boat rental) - actually that is where you meet your captain and handle $$ etc.

Start at the DIS Discussion Forems and pick a Forem that you want to ask a question about. At the top (left hand side) it will have a place that says "new thread". You push that. You will have to put in a title and then under the message area you can ask questions. Sometimes the best thing to do is to just start looking in different posts to find out information to get you started. Everyone is very helpful here. Just ask what you are wanting to know and you will get lots of answers. Good luck and welcome.

hi
very very very long shot - longest shot ever but does anyone have a wishes cruise that they would like to share with a family of 5 brits - 2 adults, my lad age 9, my little girl age 6 and my little toddler age 2 between the dates 11/9-25/9.
did not realise they had started other cruises than illuminations but then it has been 7 years (way too long) since we have been back.
many thanks and shall look out for fellow dis members.

Hi! I think I may be able to help you out. I'm finalizing today which night I will be doing the Wishes w/ my fam and was looking for someone to share it with. We'll be there from the 14th to the 20th of sep. and are going to book either the 16th (tuesday) or the 17th (wed). The one on tuesday is slightly later than the wed. one due to the not so scary halloween party. It's me, my hubby and our 2 boys ages 4 and 2. I will back on here after I def book the cruise w/ my specific dates but if you're still looking and my date works for you then that sounds great to me!

Pm me if interested!

how do people usually go about collecting payment? I am nervous that if it rains everyone will bail and I will have to foot the entire payment myself :(

If it rains and they cancel the cruise you don't have to pay! : ) On the last cruise we went on we just payed cash when we got to the dock, but I must admit that you have to depend on your fellow disers to be honest and come through. You can choose to collect another way if you wish.

So I was told when I booked my cruise that the boat only seats 10. Then I heard it was 12, but what I was really wondering is, does Disney look the other way if there is 11? Do they allow for one extra person?:grouphug:

Hello,
The premium Wishes, and the Illuminations cruises seat a max of 10. On a rare occasion, they might allow 11 if there are kiddiepoos, but don't count on it. The basic Wishes cruise seats a maximum of 8.
Hope that helps,
Take care,

Hi
We just went on an Illuminations cruise during tropical storm Fay. They didn't cancel and it did start raining. One couple didn't show up. I guess they thought it was cancelled. I had everyone elses cell phone number, so I knew they were going to show up, but the one couple didn't and we all had to put in an extra $20.00. We all just paid cash or charged individually and we tipped the boat captain whatever we wanted. After we parked under the bridge, the boat captain told us that there wouldn't be any fireworks. They showed the globe and a few ground fireworks. It didn't even last 10 minutes. We were really upset. They were so nice about refunding our money. I would make sure you have everyone's phone number and email address so you can keep in touch with them. Have fun!!

Hmmm...I didn't consider rain or a storm. We will plan on being at our meeting time and place whether rain or shine and we can take it from there as a group. I wouldn't want to cause a problem for the rest of the people on our excursion by assuming it is canceled. I am glad you posted your experience. :wizard:

Is it just me or is this thread getting a little out of control? Why are folks looking for specific cruise dates in this thread instead of the individual CRUISE CENTRAL FOR SEPTEMBER (insert month) thread? I don't know about anybody else, but I'm not going through 15 or 20 pages of posts looking for someone to share a cruise with. Perhaps the entire thread could be started again with updated info on pricing and reservations. The phone tree is not anything like the original post anymore. I'm no expert, but would like to hear from someone who is; just an observation.:sad2:

I agree that this post has become way to long to sort through. And you are right, the procedures in the first post are not up to date anymore. However, I did use some of the information on how to get one of these cruises this morning, and it worked. I was glad though that I did a test run yesterday and found out that you do not push #3 right away, as this takes you to golf reservations. I was able to book a Illuminations Cruise on Thanksgiving Night on the Breatless, I have never been so excited at 6:00 a.m. before, fealt like a won something even though I'm the one paying.

PM'd you. I'm hoping it will work out.
Karla, I have all the info for you. Life got busy, lol. We came home from camping and well tons of laundry, no food, unpacking, etc! Anyway, here is the scoop:
The Wishes Cruise is on 9/23 and this is for the Halloween Wishes fireworks show. Tenatively our boat is scheduled to leave The Contemporary Resort at 9 pm, we need to be there at 8:30, the show starts at 9:30. It holds 10 people, has the music piped in and has light snacks, pop, and water. With tax the total before tip is 292.88. We can split that down the middle which is 146.44 for each of our families. A 20% tip which is customary is about 30.00 per family as well.
I'll copy this and pm it to you in case you don't see this. We can work out the details via pm. We split in February for the Illuminations Cruise and it worked great. Let me know what you think.
ps. I said it tentaively leaves from The Contemporary because that is what I picked, but we can change it, there are several ports the boat can leave from. I need to confirm with my sisiter who is the Disney Diva, that with our dinner reservation this is the best place to leave from.
TTYS.

We have booked the Platinum dining package and are staying at the Contmeporary Atrium level. It says in our package we have reserved seating for specialty cruise, we also are supposed to have a planner that will call us and set up an itinerary. We definetly want to do the Illuminations cruise and I'm wondering if I just wait for the planner to call or if I should call 90 days ahead and book it? We are going Feb 01-Feb 05th, 2009

Hi Disers! I will be cancelling an Illuminations Cruise for Sept 30. If anyone might have a Le Cellier reservation for 2 on Sept 30 to trade for the cruise ressie, that would be great! If not, it's ok...I'm still planning on cancelling (we just found out our 2 year old is very scared of fireworks, and we don't want to terrify him on a boat when we wouldn't really be able to just walk away.) If anyone is interested, maybe we can do a 3 way call, and I can cancel, and you can book it (I don't know if Disney will allow this, but we can always try). :)

Check in is at 8pm
Departure is anywhere between 8:10 and 8:30 depending on your arrival time
IllumiNatios is at 9pm
Not a problem.
Between Thanksgiving and NYE add 1/2 hour to these times.

This is totally inaccurate. There is no minimum, if you were so inclined, ONE person can rent any of the boats and fly solo (except for the provided Cruise Driver).

I live on the West Coast, so calling and booking an Illuminations cruise requires us to get up at 3:45 a.m. to do it. All 3 adults in the party got up and starting calling 90 days from the 1st day of our vacation. The first time, only 1 of us got was able to get a reservation. The 2nd time we tried, all three of us were offered a reservation (which was our preferred date, so we don't have to call anymore:)
So, get up early and have your dialing finger ready, start dialing about 5 minutes before 7:00 a.m. est. Do a practice run so you know the phone prompts. Know what you are going to ask for when the reservation clerk answers. "I'd like a specialty cruise for 8 p.m. on (insert date)." When you do the practice run, go ahead and talk to the reservation clerk and ask her the exact date you can start calling for your reservation. She can also give you current prices and times. They really are very helpful.
I've found this site very helpful. Hope this helps you too.:rainbow:
