We leave one week from today. Our first WDW trip with 13 month old dd. DH HATES the ride It's a Small World and is trying to tell me that the ride is closing one month earlier than originally scheduled and won't be open for our trip. Please tell me DH is trying to pull my leg!!! I would be so disappointed if Madelyn doesn't get to ride It's A Small World.

From WDW.com:

"it's a small world" will not be operating May 2, 2004 until Spring 2005, however we recommend Pirates of the Caribbean as an alternative during this time.

Unfortunately, It's a Small World will close on May 2nd. We are also leaving for WDW next weekend with our 2 1/2 year old twin girls, and were somewhat disappointed that the ride will be closed, but I look at it this way. They don't know anything about the ride, since it really doesn't relate to any Disney characters, and doesn't really show up in any Disney movies or shows (with the exception of the planning videos & software), so at least they won't know what they're missing.

Sorry for the bad news. We empathize.

I know my dd won't know what she is missing but I knew it would be one ride she would enjoy at her young age. Thanks for the confirmation. Before every trip DH tries to tell me that It's A Small World will be closed so I never know when he is telling the truth!

Are they changing the ride or just doing a refurbishment?

doing major refurb. cleaning, fixing, etc. The rumor is that they're even trying to recreate the DL outside facade inside the building.

Another rumor is to give more space for stroller parking around the abandoned Skyway area.

SnowWhite's refurb however has now been moved up. They'll be done May 8 instead of May 28.

Has the Snow White ride been changed also? Or just a refurb?

Well that stinks! I was really looking forward to taking our 18 month old DS on it. We have the song on tape and he dances everytime we play it for him. Oh well, I know DS-9 and DH will be *thrilled* to know it will be closed when we're there.

But at least you won't have to try and contain your son as he tries to dance in the boat! :p

Rats. I thought I had read that IASW refurb wasn't until after our return on May 18th. I really love that ride.

However, I hope that Snow White got a complete refurb. A ride too intense for the its intended age group. Too scary for toddlers and too dull for big kids. This ride never had a line regardless of the crowd level.
