Lotsa good reasons to wait coming from Maine. We are now within 15 miles of Logan, so BOS is a natural for us now. The "Jetport" (PWM) is awefully convenient, but always a connection and wicked pricy. Still, my parents in the Kennebunks always fly out of there bcs it's so darn easy. I certainly understand the appeal of direct flights that are cheaper out of MHT, tho.

Portland is only 4 towns over from Standish (nice town!), isn't it Michelle? Would you be anywhere near Sebago?

And DisDreamer, what part of Maine are you coming from?

Either of you remember the old "16 counties has our State" song from Jr High school?

I'm waiting for SW too! So much easier to fly out of Providence than Boston.

Hi ya pumpkinboy, actually I am the one in Standish! (Grew up in Hollis ) I have to drive to Portland each day work !! traveling through Gorham is the PITS !!! if you hit it wrong anyway..
I never had to learn that song - maybe i am too young ? (I don't get to say that very often at 33!! )

Hi disneydreamer ! How have you been - I see you are planning a cruise around the same time we are heading to the World and a family one at that --Have a great time .. I can't wait to try MNSSHP this year !

I only hope waiting won't hurt my chances if SW doesn't have a great fare .. Seems everyone who has flown Jetblue likes them . I will just have to keep my fingers crossed that I am doing the right thing !!

Southwest has a departure date available for me, but not the return date, and I've already got my flight booked on JetBlue.

So I tried a one way Southwest flight, and just doubled it. Assuming that I can get the same fare of $79 both ways, my savings would only be about $18 (roundtrip) flying Southwest.

I don't know if that helps in your decision $18 on it's own isn't a big deal, but if you've got a large group, it might serve you well to wait for Southwest's fares.

Looks like there are several of us from Maine waiting for Southwest to open up. We are going for Thanksgiving week and I am starting to get worried that we will have to pay big bucks! I prefer to go out of Manchester but will do Boston if necessary. I will keep watching and let people know about any good deals I find.

Southwest reservation site is temporarily down this morning...could they be adding October dates to their system? Hope so.

I check SWA daily for Nov. dates. I really don't want to go out of Boston but I will for a direct flight during Thanksgiving. I have a fear of being stuck on the runway for hours with my 2 sons if we were to have a connection out of the PWM during a holiday week.

Since I am a newbie to SWA. Are you all going to purchase imediatly for Thanksgiving when it becomes available or wait for an internet fare sale???

I will purchase my tickets when my dates become available. SWA doesn't charge you when you make changes to your tickets. So if the rates go down I'll get a SWA credit to use on another date. Some people have had the difference refunded to their card but I wouldn't count on it.

Seriously??? I can get the difference refunded to my CC??? That just sounds to good to be true. I have been watching rates out of MDW and they are "usually" 79 one way but I have seen them come down to 54. I really can get the difference back?

TIA, Sue

They hold it as a credit against future travel.

I don't know if they always keep to the same timeframe, but SW opened up the schedule for early November through December on June 26. I have no idea why I remember that!!

We flew SW a couple of years ago on SWA.

I had originally booked FFF tickets that ran about $134.00/person.

They came out with an intenet special that brought my tickets down to $118.00/person.

I called and the guest relations helper was great. She helped me get the credit set up as I was holding the new tickets online.

SWA refunded all of my money (to my CC) except $10.00. Not sure I remember what the $10 was about, but I wasn't going to complain about a refund.

Just watch and call!
