This is the first time I have ever rented a car. Learned lots from this board. I don't know about other agencies but right now National is offering:

Full size car for base $130 week + tax etc. (sorry dont know exact figures) Thats a darn good rate!! (with discounts it will probably stay around $130 including tax etc.) Did that make sense?
I know that this rate is definetely good sept/Oct. 2001

Hope this helps

I have $104 + taxes at Dollar, intermediate, (Dodge Stratus) for two weeks Nov. Enrolled my DH in Silver Dollar Club, get extra driver free and free up-grade to full size if available. Have been checking for three months now. That's the best I've been able to get. When I called to confirm by phone, the clerk says not to let that one go!:)

I got a full size car (Dodge Intrepid ) for second week of August with Dollar for $109.00 + taxes ( I believe they go @ $125.00 now ). I don't think I can do better than that but if I can I will take it!! and I got that with no codes or discounts, just pure luck!

I got the same rate for two weeks at the end of September. Have you ever used dollar before? I was just curious if anyone had gotten one cheaper. I am very happy with the $109.

Have you tried checking www.hotwire.com for car rental rates? They give you the entire amount per day, up front, including all taxes. However, the reservations are not refundable so you have to be sure before you reserve. We were able to get a really great rate from them for a trip to LA in April - even lower than Priceline which surprised me. It might be worth a try.
