Questions about parks closing early in August

I was just looking at the projected park opening and closing hours for the last week of August. MK closes at 6pm some nights!

On nights that MKcloses early, do they do the evening (Spectromagic) parade or fireworks? Is it dark enough?

Also, at the end of August, MK is only opened late on Saturdays & Sundays. Would we be crazy to visit MK on these days, so we can get a full day in? There are a lot of things we want to see at MK.

In the off season they generally only have Spectro on Saturday nights, sometimes once during the week. MK is always crowded on the weekends. I generally like to get there early in the AM get done what I want and then go back later for Spectro. I have gone in September and even then MK was open until 7 during the week 6:00 seems awful early.

Thanks for the info. Maybe we'll have to think about park hopping to do most things in MK during the week when they close early, and then going back on the weekend for Spectro & the fireworks.

I guess we'll play it by ear and wait until the official park hours come out. I got the projected park opening hours from the site below, it said 6pm, but 7 would be better!

Parks start closing early in late summer because many schools start reopening. Here in Illinois we are back in mid August.:wave:

Why do the schools open so early?
I hope the kids get out earlier in June, if they have to go back in mid-August!

I too am waiting for the day that they announce the hours for end of August and September (I know it won't be for awhile, but I can quietly hope for earlier.) One thing that I am keeping in mind with the announcement of hours is that last year's hours were before they had the Wishes fireworks. If they keep with having Wishes every night, I am hoping that they will keep the park open a little later because 6 or 7pm will be too early to have fireworks. I would like to think that they would at least wait until 8pm to get the full affect. I have my fingers crossed that they will think like this too when they post them.

Schools wind up in early May--and in Late april/early may--MK closes early for Grad night.

So maybe something is going on on those evenings (or it is that infamous eride night that week)
