Just booked a convertable with Alamo using the Sam's club code and 20.00 off coupon. 8 days, final total (including all taxes and fees) with one free additional driver is: 241.89
Only 53.76 more than the full size.
I am very happy with this rate.

Gail, that sounds like a great rate--and for a convertible, how fun! :)

May I ask how you got the Sam's Club code? I just joined Sam's Club and when I was at the store the other day I inquired about the code but no one seemed to know what I was talking about; can you tell me where to look? Couldn't seem to find it on the website either. Also, did you book through Alamo or Sam's Club?

We've always gotten great rates through USAA but right now I'm not getting anything good at all from them so I'm navigating the rental car bargain-hunting maze!

Thanks.

I would be happy to help. Go to www.samsclub.com
then click on travel (top of the page), then go to the right hand side where you will see a picture of the Golden Gate bridge, click on that, coupons and click on that and Alamo will have one along with a few others. I don't seem to get really good rates with USAA, everytime I try with Hertz it comes up higher before the discount. Go figure. Oh, btw, you will have to sign up on their web site to be able to access this information. Takes about 2 minutes. Next time you are at Sam's look for the travel brochures. They do have them.
I would have im'd you the info, but, you have not enabled that function. :)

Anyway, the coupon is really good, 20.00 off for mid size through SUV. Very odd coupon indeed.

Thanks, Gail! That was exactly what I was looking for. I'll try those codes and see if they help.

I'll look for the travel brochures when I go to Sam's tomorrow!

Thanks again,
Janet

I got rid of all my credit cards and they no longer accept debit cards, so, yes, I have abandoned National.

My rate is down also. I just switched from midsize @ $80 to fullsize @ $75 for 3 days 5/9-5/12. Now I can get all the golf clubs in the car!

Yes, with Alamo. I used the $15 off 3 day rental coupon from entertainment book & the codes off the coupon.

before I would rent from Alamo again. Customer service? Not at Alamo. Just lousy attitudes and they will rip you off. NEVER AGAIN.

Whatever, I like them and have never had but one tiny problem
with Alamo and it was taken care of immediately. They work for me and that is all that counts for me. They don't work for you, and you don't use them, that is your choice. If I did not go to everyplace that I have heard negative things about, I would never go anywhere. I prefer to choose for myself.
And, once again, I will ask you to relate your story again. If you sign a contract and don't honor it, then you are the one at fault, not the people that chose to take you to task for it.
