I know that most airlines don't serve food to coach anymore - does USAir from Philly to Orlando offer meals for purchase? Is there any other option for airline food? Thanks everybody!

We fly that route/carrier fairly regularly, and on flights during meal times, yes, they usually have meals for sale.
We usually jsut eat something at the airport before we board though--the Chinese and Japanese places in the food court are actually pretty good :)
You are always welcome to carry your own food on. We do that every now and then, although try to avoid anything which might be overly pungent so as to not bother our fellow passengers.

On a lot of flights they offer a meal box or a snack box. You can do as well if you purchase something at the airport. If you are in the back of the plane there is no guarantee that there will be meal boxes left.

My friends and I purchased a snack box on a flight from Orlando to Philadelphia in November. SafetyMom sure is right, they do run out. We were sitting at about the halfway mark of the plane, and we got the last one. It had a small sandwich, and I think it had three or four different snacks. I don't remember the price, it was about $5 or $6. We were each going to purchase one, but the three of us shared it. It was a nice snack. They also had a lunch box, which had a bigger sandwich and some snacks, was $10. They were gone too.
We were only on a 2 hour flight, so it didn't matter to us. I think if you are on a longer flight and want to make sure you have something, you would be much better off purchasing something at the airport.

I actually contacted USAir to complain about the lack of food by the back of the plane. It wouldn't have been an issue if my 4yr old hadn't heard about Oreos as an announcement.
I got a sandwich a several times now on the Philly to Orlando flight and they are quite good. I would recommend them. Not as many options as a food court but something to do during the flight. You can find out what is being served prior to take off.
You'll have a lovely flight!

I've also had problems with availability of food of US Airways flights. Recently, I was in row 10 of a B757, and they were already out of the sandwich option. And, in January, all they ran out of food before they reached the back of a 737 (2 seperate occasions).
