I just booked 4 round trip airfares from Providence to Orlando for $438 round trip (8/19-8/24). That's $438 for FOUR, not just ONE!!! That along with my AP discount at the Beach Club is making for my most inexpensive summer vacation ever!! I am going to try and do a trip report for the first time this time so stay tuned.

WOW! Excellent airfare, we paid over $300 for two and we are going in the SLOW season September.
Paid $230 apiece for my son's family (3) from Detroit
Maybe I should check into a refund! LOL:p :earsboy:

You should! I read somewhere that if your fare is now lower and your trip is more than 14 days away, you can ask for a refund (and would receive one in the form of vouchers good towards a future trip).

This would probably only work if you booked directly through an airline (not through a discounter like hotwire or cheaptickets).

Thanks, Lalalindica. I was only half kidding, but I think I will give it a try. Any advice from anyone who has done this successfully?

KAMLEM,
I agree with you, I have never seen fares this low. I got $328 RT for three in Sept. We are flying out of Providence also (we live in Lincoln) That along with the PO/RS discount codes from MouseSavers is making this our most inexpensive trip to WDW ever!!!

Too bad we cant book a couple of years in advance at these rates!

Mickey_Maniac-

It's great, isn't it? For the past few years we have driven up to Maine or New Hampshire and this July Smuggler's Notch and it is costing me more than Disney! I'd like to do it every summer but I'd be afraid that if I waited until the last minute I'd lose out.

ok I paid 168 for each of my tkts in sep and the fare then went down to 136 per tkt. I got the difference refunded in a voucher to me from usair. 32.50 per tkt to be exact! so no I have a voucher for 63 and the 32.50 and I plan on using these to pay for my tkt in feb when I hit the CCSS ladies meet! now if the sale is an internet only sale and you did not purchase your original tkt on the internet then no they more than likely will not give the refund but if you purchased the tkt on the internet and its available then yes they will give you the refund! they just did it for me

I live in MD now but was raised in Lincoln, RI. My parents still live there. I went to Saylesville Elementary and Lincoln JR/SR High. About the air fare, youy guys are so lucky. Those fares are awsome. The best I can do right now out of the DC area for November is $196 RT. Not bad but double the fares people are getting for the summer. I can't decide where the buy at $196 or hold ou for something better.

Funny how you keep running into people from your hometown. We live in northern Lincoln (Manville).

As for the fares, I would check with the airlines you are interested in to see if they offer credits if the price drops. That's what I did with Southwest, my original price was 610 RT for 3, when the special was announced, I called and they honored the special price. I ended up saving $280.

Peg, I would definately check into a refund, or at least a credit.

Wow,

Thanks for the info. I heard on the boards that DELTA did this. I did not know that SW did too.

I think that any airline will do it, but just as long as your trip is more than 14 days away!

Good luck!

Beverly Lynn,

I just went through this with Delta last week. I noticed the price drop for our 4 tickets from BDL to MCO (which I purchased on the internet) for our trip 10/27 to 11/3. So, I called Delta to get vouchers. (I've never done this before) They said that I CAN'T get the vouchers BECAUSE I purchased on the internet!

I used to be one of those people who bought their tickets and never gave them a second thought. Until I found these boards! So, I purchased my tickets and figured that I would keep checking and get the vouchers for our Jan trip. Had I known in advance that I couldn't do this on an internet purchase, I would have made the phone call!! I didn't get any special internet rate on my original purchase. It would have been the same if I had called.

Is there anything I can do?

Hey everyone! I just realized that there a few other DISers here travelling out of PVD and thought I would chime in with our trip. We are leaving on the 19th and returning on the 26th on Southwest. We got the great rate but had already booked at a higher rate so we now have a credit and need to use it within 1 year.

Kamlem, you on the morning flight with Southwest???

Also, to Mickeymaniac my wife is from Manville. We now live in Johnston. When are you guys travelling maybe we will be on the same plane????

I noticed a 34 dollar price drop for a trip to Atlanta that I have scheduled for August. American Airlines would not issue me a credit voucher. It was the same exact flights for the round trip. The customer service rep told me that they were 2 different class of tickets which I remember reading about that somewhere.

Beverly Lynn, do you have some insight on this?

Hi KAMLEM,

I am a travel agent. Take your tickets back to the travel
agent you got them from, they can reissue them for
the lower fare. The difference between the 2 fares will
be issued to you in an MCO(Thats a voucher to use on
future travel, depending on the airline it should be good
one or 2 years) GOOD LUCK

Kevin,
Sorry, but we aren't going until Sept. Where did your wife live in Manville? WE live just off of Sayles Hill Rd near Rt 99.

As for our "credit", I called SW back to confirm that it is in fact a true credit back on our card and the agent told me that the credit would show on the card after we had actually gone on then trip. She explained that since the tickets were non-refundable, they could not do a partial refund until they were sure we had actually used the tickets.

You can be sure I am going to follow up with them right after we get back!!!

I purchased tickets for my June trip from Travelocity. The tickets were roundtrip from Dallas on Delta at $233.00 each. I was on the Delta web page one day and saw the airfare had gone down to $169.00. I called Delta and spoke to a wonderful agent on the phone, she told me she did not think they would issue vouchers since I purchased the tickets on the internet, but if I didn't mind waiting she would call customer service. I had to wait about 5 minutes while she called customer service, I ended up with 4 travel vouchers for $52.50 each. Maybe Delta's policy is not set in stone, maybe itdepends on the availibility of the seats on your flights. Just thought I would share my experience.

Haven't been able to find any good sales out of Detroit to either MCO or TPA for October (10-20). I prefer non-stop since we are traveling with a toddler--but would be willing to endure a short layover for the great fare prices you guys have been getting. Am I missing something? Travelgoddess, you're from MI, anything out there yet?

Thank to all! I just got off the phone with US Air and they issued a voucher for $108.00. The girl I spoke to was really very nice and knew what I wanted before I even asked. She made all the adjustments and said the only thing I had to remember was that when I used the vouchers I had to call for reservations. I guess you can't book on the internet and use the vouchers. (But I found the prices to be almost the same anyway, since I had gone through US Air's web site) By the way, the vouchers are good for 2 years.

Anyway, thanks to all of you who told me how to do this!

Thanks for sharing your experience...

I did end up getting the new price. A very nice customer service rep made a one time exception to the non-refundable rule and stayed on the line while I rebooked new tickets on-line at the new price. She then cancelled the old ones and refunded our money. I was very grateful. I guess it all depends on who you talk to.

If anyone else is having these kinds of problems, don't give up!

First, I want to say that my DH lived in Lincoln, RI, until we got married, and his parents still live there! We live in Smithfield now. Everybody sing..."it's a small world after all"... :D

I paid $265/person for our flights from PVD to MCO. I had seen it as low as $245 on Delta's website ($255 at the same time on Travelocity) and then it went up. The same flights are at over $300 now. The thing is...we go on Thanksgiving Day, and we take specific, non-stop flights, so we pay whatever we need to pay. I do keep checking, but have not seen anything lower.

At least I know what to do if I do see it lower.

I got vouchers from US Air for our December flight from Grand Rapids to MCO less than an hour ago but mine are only good for 1 year - the rep was very specific to let me know that so good for you Peg. Wish I had read this before I made the call but will read the fine print when they arrive an maybe they will be for 2 years also.

I never realized there were so many DIS'ers that live in RI. Maybe we should form a local chapter or something!!!

I had the same thing happen as one of the previous posters...I purchased my tix on Southwest Air through my TA last Friday after doing all the research myself. On Tuesday, Southwest came out with lower fares for the exact flights (or more specifically, our return flight). It was only $11 less per ticket, but with 6 of us flying, that's a Hoop de doo ticket and a half! I emailed my TA (my SIL) and she talked with SWA. They told her they would issue me a credit on my credit card AFTER we had completed our travel. (just as they told the previous poster) I'm glad I read it here too. At least we have two people telling the same thing to two different people.:) I'll keep watching those fares to drop more!
Don't you just LOVE these boards! I'm addicted!

Lisa:)
