Just checked the National website again and saved another 14 bucks on our 8 days in September. This makes 6 reservations since April, going from 216.29 down to 149.16! It pays to keep checking!

Are you all rebooking a new ressie, or are they automaticlly reducing the one you have already? Thanks all!

You have to book a new ressie and cancel any old ones without penalty.

Are these prices before or after taxes and fees? You all are making me feel bad :( because the best I could do was $163, tax and fees included, EA for eight days. I keep checking, but things aren't dropping for the last week in July.

Thanks to this thread, I just rebooked, and saved about $40!!! I also figured out how to get three discounts instead of two. Went from $211 for nine days in September to $172! You guys are so great for keeping us updated!!! Do you think prices will come down more?

THREE discounts? Okay, Barbruka, can you clue us 2 discount folks in? :D

Yes Barb, do tell! I only know how to get 1 contract and 1 coupon #.

On Mousesavers, it is explained fully. Basicly, you enter the Disney contract code where it has the EA contract code. Delete the one there already. (They will automaticly give you the EA code discount.) And then enter your coupon code above that one like usual. Wala! You have three discounts, the EA contract discount, the Disney Club contract code discount, and one of several coupons. (Disney one weekend day free coupon or the free day coupon.) All the details are at Mousesavers under National. I got over $51 in discounts! By the way, you have to call the DC to get the DC contract code. I have not seen that number listed anywhere. You cannot enter that number and the Disney coupon number on the same line. Evidently, coupons and contract codes are two different things. Good luck! The number to call for the DC contract code is on the back of your card.

The DC contract code is shown on the DC members website; as is the DC coupon code number :D

Oh, I see what you are saying. I had already followed all the instructions on Mousesavers. I just didn't see where you were figuring the 3rd discount.

While the base rate I am being quoted is actually the same with or without EA, that would only be true of an intermediate size car. It quotes the same for the full size when you go through the EA links, but a higher rate without EA. This would make sense, since you can easily pick up full size from the Aisle anyway.

So, I guess in a way, that is a third discount. :)

MinnieMe2- My quote on previous post was with all the taxes and fees included. I found the best discount for me was with the DC contract # and DC coupon. I've read others getting good discounts with Entertainment and Costco club.

Actually, National isn't giving three discounts - if you use a coupon code and a DC code, you'll find the same rate whether or not you use the Emerald Club reservation page or the non-EC page. (And the base rate changes if you replace the EC code with the DC code.)

However, you *can* get two discounts plus Emerald Aisle service - still great deal.

My base rate did not change when I replaced the EA contract code with the DC contract code. And you do get a discount with the EA contract code, DC contract code and the coupon of your choice. I tried it several different ways, and there were three discounts.

It all depends on how you joined the Emerald Club and what your Master Contract provisions are. For instance, my Emerald Club memebership is through my employer. When I rent for business, my rental automatically includes insurance coverages and refueling charges that my company's travel department negotiated.

When I change my EA Contract Code to the Disney Contract Code, I do get a different (lower) base rate. But then I'm not automatically getting insurance coverage (my personal credit card covers that) and, at least until recently when National changed their refuleing policy for Emerald Club members, automatic refueling at a discount.

So, if you joined Emerald club through the Disney Club offer, you probably do not see a change in base rates.

Today I reserved a National full size for our November trip. I tried all the onsite agencies with all the discounts I could locate. National won. One thing though, the site would not accept my Emerald Club #. I've heard that their site has been acting strange lately.

Thanks, I just shaved $67 off my August reservation.

Drat. :(

My ressie refuses to get any lower. I thought at first it was only those with September ressies that were getting lower, but now August (we're traveling then) is being reported.

This is what I'm getting, and while I think it's a good deal, I keep hearing of others getting it lower.

National Full-Size EA for 8 days (Aug 3-11)

Base Rate: 146.99
Extra Day: 24.50
DC Disc: -34.30
Coupon: -16.80

Subtotal: 120.39

With taxes and fees: 164.79

Is this in line with others booking August?

I have the same reservation - Full Size, EA, 8 days at end of August.

Base rate of 169.13
Discounts of 33.83 & 16.57 (Disney Club)

Total after surcharges & taxes = $162.81.

I've been trying to get it to go down, but its just not happening. This total is very close to what we paid last year for same reservation, so guess I can't complain too much. I'll keep checking and hope for lower!;)

I have been checking National for quite a while nor for our August trip, we are going from 8/11-25 and I have found that the best deal I could get was DOLLAR for 109.00 a week for a full size car plus taxes.
Because I'm keeping the car for an extra half a day I'm being charged for an extra day but with all taxes included my rental is $325 which is the cheapest I have found for a full size.
National would not let me use the free weekend day on a 15 day rental but they would on a 14 days and that wouldn't help because they charge an arm and a leg for one day only rental, not worth the headache!

There should be a way to see directly if three discounts are being applied - first, check a rate with the DC and coupon codes going through the normal, non-EA reservation portal. Then check the identical rental, with the same codes, after logging in as an EA member.

If the two rates are the same, then the DC contract discount has replaced the EA discount. If the latter rate is lower, then all three have been applied, at least in part. (When I did this test, both rates were the same.)

It's entirely possible that for some EA memberships, one can do a triple piggyback. But I haven't seen it. (for the record, my EA membership isn't through Disney Club, since I'm not a member - just using the coupon in the sampler pack.)

At this point, this is more of a curiosity than anything else, since saving $5-10 really isn't worth the time it takes to secure it.
