Hello,

My son and DIL are both in the US Army. They may be stationed in England starting in July.. The Army just has to get it together and get Both of them orders for the UK.

That being said... DS and DIL have 2 kids with another due in May.
They also have a small dog and today purchased a BOA! SNAKE.. YIKES! anyway DIL was wondering about quarantine for the animals entering UK. Belle2003 gave me some great links so I know how it works for the dog... but can the snake come to England too?

and NO... I am not willing to keep the snake while they are there! LOL.. NO WAY!!!

thanks for any info you can give me...

Joan

Whilst dogs and cats can be brought in under the Pet Passport Scheme, I think the snake would require a licence of some kind and comes under the heading of restricted "goods".

Take a look here, and I think if they are serious about this they should contact the number given there.

http://www.hmce.gov.uk/forms/notices/1.htm

You'll need to scroll down to "Travelling to the UK from outside the EU" and then look under the Restricted list.

Thank you!

I will fwd these links to DIL and son....... I think they are going to have to call someone directly as snakes don't seem to be mentioned in any of the directives. As you can tell I want them to give up the darn snake. and to do it soon. :p

LOL Joan, I did get that impression :)

Seriously, I'm sure you must be worried about having a Boa with babies and children. I know from the other thread on the US CB you said it is locked in an aquarium, but surely they need to take it out to clean the aquarium and I think they also need handling to have them used to it. (I doubt that a small dog is very safe with a Boa around either).

I hope you get your wish and that they donate the snake to a good zoo or a snake expert.

Shirley and the rest of the gang at the UK...

LOL!!!! Yes I am sure the dog will be a furry appetizer!!!

Btw.. just spoke to DIL.. she said she is going to make a couple of phone calls but if the orders to England come thru they will be taking the boa back to the store! aw shucks.....
