I was wondering.......... If anyone, anywhere on DISboards could get their hands on a copy of the movie Song of the South. For anyone who doesn't know, it is a Disney movie that is the theme behind the ride Splash Mountain. I know it's locked away in the vault due to racial issues, but I had seen it a while back when a friend had a copy of a friends. I heard it was only available in places like Germany and stuff like that but I doubt that I'll ever get over there. So if anyone fellow DISer out their has a copy............Let's Talk Business!!

Check your video store, I know mine has it cause I looked at it not that long ago thinking I should get it ( I didnt) so my kids knew the plot to the ride. In fact after going on the ride the other day my dh wants to see it now. LOL

Check ebay. I bought mine from a guy in England. He had already transferred it to NTSC ( our standards for television ). It won't be cheap, though. As I recall it was about $50 for my copy.
You can buy a NEW copy in some European stores ( online ). But you willneed to have it converted, which technically may be illegal, though not in my eyes. Plus, not everybody can or will copy it for you. They use a system called PAL in Europe. But if you go this way you can have an original copy. Excpect to pay about $125, not including conversion after you get it here.
Hey, I actually offered advice, instead of asking for it!

Do a search on these boards. A while back there was someone who could "hook you up" with someone who sold copies of the movie on dvd for around $20. There was never a website posted or anything like that. I remember I sent a pm to the person and they emailed me the web address. I got a copy--the quality is great and my ds loves it!

We got a copy at DL Paris, but it was a different format. We found someone that converted it for us, but then my daughter in her toddler days pulled the ribbon out of the video....
Disney will never release this again.

I'm sure it would be fine to order from there Lisa. Might not be the best quality, but close enough for a copy.
A couple years back we went to a nerdy sci-fi convention and they had lots of vendor booths. Many had DVD copies of everyone you could think of under the sun, INCLUDING this one.
