I have been doing the Atkins diet and having great results. My only problem is that I have been getting consistent leg cramps and I am sure that it is from lack of potassium. I bought potassium vitamins but they literally 2% of the recommended daily allowance in them. What do you do to make sure that you are getting sufficient potassium when you are not eating fruits?

Try using Morton's Lite salt, or sea salt... much more potassium than plain old salt.

I take a potassium tablet morning AND night, even though the dose is one per day. And that's in addition to the multi-vitamin I take with potassium in it.

Also... be sure you're getting your water. Leg cramps can be caused by dehydration, as well as low potassium.

I got the leg cramps consistently as well as the foot cramps every night. I started taking a good quality calcium/magn. combo every night before bed. I think it has 500g. of calcium per tablet. I take 2 a night. I never have a problem now unless I forget to take them. Hope that helps.:D

Vitamin E also helps. I find that if I take a Potassium and a Vitamin E right before bedtime, I won't get leg cramps at night.
