I know I am not a moderator but this whole thread refers to Disney Awards befor Oct 1, 2001 so it doesn't pretain to the program now.

Good post Mal & hope it helps those who are new to the program! Just 1 ?? on the DA search page it says "To also be considered valid you must visit at least one of the results" so I was assuming this was true for all the search engines. Do we need to only click on one result for the Mamma ones or from them all? TIA!

Good explanation Mal...thanks for posting and also want to remind folks that there is a place on disneyawards to chat and ask questions first hand ....different folk are in the chat room at different times of day to lend a helping hand.. just follow the link to ghostly gatherins and click on the dancing ghost it will take you to chat page...

I had about given up, though I didn't want to. I have a terrible time reading directions, and I know I am not alone.

Hopefully....they will not change again! I really believe this was part of the problem.

I too was ready to throw in the towel, but you've made it sound pretty easy! I just have been a little slow lately I have a newborn and a three year old and am sleep deprived ;). I joined the program in the beginning, but got so confused and frustrated that I stopped doing it. Can I rejoin, or am I out forever because I didn't keep up with it? I would really like to do it, but I'm not sure if I will be allowed, since I stopped for so long. Could anyone help me out with this? TIA!!

FYI, Mamma may not be crediting DA correctly, so temporarily Kris has asked people to not use Mamma for the 30 search requirement, and to use Goto.com or SearchTraffic in place of Mamma.

she has also asked that we now click on a search result regardless of which search engine we use.

if you use SearchTraffic to complete part of your required 30 searches, you must click on a search result that "does not have ABC search" (i'm not sure what that means yet) and please submit to Kris how many searches you did on SearchTraffic.

mrsdash, i'm not really sure of the right answer to your question.

my interpretation of what Kris meant was that we can do either of the following:

10 AskJeeves + 20 Goto.com = 30 total required searches

or

10 AskJeeves + 10 Goto.com + 10 SearchTraffic = 30 total required searches

or

10 AskJeeves + some combination of Goto.com + SearchTraffic that is 20 searches = 30 total required searches


also, i think i've figured out the no ABC search thing. sometimes the results you get from SearchTraffic include one result which points to another search engine called abcsearch.com
i think we can't click on that result because it doesn't count.

Definitely DO NOT click on ABCsearch! It will make itself your home page again and again until you clear it out of your history and temp files. At least that was my experience with it. :mad: (Hey, that was the first time I ever used a mad face! I really really don't like ABCsearch.)

I personally do not like searchtraffic at all so I will not use it.

Any idea when it is ever going to be less than 30 searches? I don't have fast internet and I got sick of 30 searches real fast. Its not worth it when you don't even know if you'll get a reward. I was going to try to support that program but I work and have children and don't have time for 30 searches every day.

go to your desktop and right click on "MYCOMPUTER" it will bring up a box with listing click on properties then device manager then click on the + sign next to modem it will tell you your modem speed.

everything is explained there.
you should register on www.ezboards.com if you haven't registered there already for another board (it's a popular discussion board server).

DA is at pub72.************/bdisneyawards

feel free to ask questions there too! there are lots of helpful members that frequent the DA boards.

btw, as of now, there is no login to the program. everything is done manually.

this site is POORLY designed.

If this many people are having difficulty (including myself) the creators should think of making some MAJOR changes.

As a follow-up, I sent an e-mail to the site indicating my ability to figure out Disney Awards. Although I received a prompt response, I still am unable to figure out how to use the site. Maybe I am just too obtuse.
