May have to cancel trip we had planned for july. As of monday the disney account gets emptied out to provide funding for grocerys etc,, while i have additionall un planned surgerys to repair my face. Doesnt look promising that we will be able to resave the cash before june, Travel dates are booked for july 19th through 24th, should we get refund of deposits and payments to date or wait till last min and see if codes make trip possible? friends we are traveling with ( and dw) are sugggesting we do a day trip to six flags and just state park camp in area for this year. What do you guys think, surgery is definately a nessecity, as we lost the right half of my face in an auto accident in oct, this is to attach musculature to the new eye lids that they are building. wonders of modern medicine huh, but since i havent worked since october, and still only get to go part time, the codes will have to save me about 1000 bucks off the original pricing (or more) to be able to keep ressies, any advice appreciated, may not be able to follow up much as we are rushing to get Easter in and ready for monday Operating room trip at same time.. thanks,, Froggy:confused:

My heart goes out to you and your family. I will keep a positve thought for you on Monday. I pray that all goes well with your surgery.

It's a tough decision to make. I don't know the codes that come out for late summer (if there are any) will save you as much as $1000. That would depend on the type of room you already have reserved. For a 5-night stay, it would have to save you $200 per night!

With your finances being stretched so much already, it would probably be a good idea to postone your visit to WDW for a year. This would give both your body and bank account a chance to heal. I know it's a disappointing thought, but I have to agree with your DW and friends. A few short day trips to local attractions this summer may be a better idea.

also, being as we are over 45 days prior,, are there any cancellation fees?

I just wanted to say my heart goes out to you with what you are going through.

And as far as the cancellation, I think if you explained your situation to WDW, they would understand. One year(back when you had 5 days before to cancel) we had a death in the family and had to cancel just a day or two before and they refunded the money.

Talk to Disney- consider staying offsite OR consider postponement- Disney was very flexible with me recently when I changed the dates of my trip to a later date and went from 6 nights to 3-( I gave them no reason) It was more than 60 days out though-
good luck and good health to you.

If you've booked a package that requires 45 days notice to get a full refund - then I'd cancel. You can always rebook with the codes if you find that you can afford it.

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident - but it truly is a miracle the things they can do to get you back to "normal". I hope everything goes well for you - and don't worry - WDW will always be there for you when you save the money again!

Sorry to hear about your accident and surgeries. This must be a very difficult time for you and to have to cancel your vacation too, :(

If you can, I would probably say postpone. You will enjoy yourself more if you are not as worried about money.

However, if you do decide to go, maybe you can save money by switching where you stay to someplace less expensive (you don't say where you are staying so its hard to know) and what your plans are as far as meals and such. If you had alot of sitdowns plan, you certainly can save by going to counter service for some of those. But I don't recommend that for every meal. It gets tiresome eating burgers and chicken strips every day.

I'm sending pixie dust your way, though it isn't going too far. I'm in the Southern part of Arkansas myself!

I would give Disney a call if I were you, and tell them of my quandry. Perhaps you could get a heads up from someone there. The worst they can do is tell you sorry, we don't know.

Well we have spent several days discussing thisa, and we have decided the best is to cancel, wait a year and then go back to WDW so i guess we'll be taking our old mouse mugs around to state parks around Ark, louisianna and mississippi this summer ,,lol,, at least this way we can still get out of town ,, just for shorter trips and more often,, so if anyone has a favorite local area park, theme park, or state camping area type ,, give us the heads up, we'll try em out. Thanks all for the pixie dust,, thoughts prayers etc,, ( we take all help we can get) we are looking at any oportunity for family fun in the area actually any where in the mid south states we'll check into them,, any tips on the area around six flags n o or dallas, or silver dollar city,,, let us know. thatnks again, Froggy

For a short trip, we went to Magic Springs and Crystal Falls last year. This is an amusement park and water park in Hot Springs. Our DS7 loved it. There are lots of fun things to do in and around Hot Springs. There is a good magician, Maxwell Blade. It is fun to stay at the Arlington Hotel, and do the hot baths.

We often camp around Murfreesboro. You could fish in the river or do the diamond hunting. You could go up to the Northern part of the state and camp near Eureka Springs or anywhere around the White River.

We've gone camping near Mountain Home and gone to Blanchard Springs Caverns. If you've never been, it is a good cave to tour. Or go over to Mountain View and check out the Ozark Folk Center. There are really a lot of fun things to do in our state.

I sure hope your surgery goes well. Good luck!

I just wanted to bump this up as a reminder to everyone to say a little prayer for FroggyinArk. He's probably in surgery now, as I type this. May God guide the skillful hands of his surgeon and the surgical team. Prayers and pixie dust for a speedy recovery.

I'm glad you're home and doing ok. That trip (back from LR, I assume) is hard post op. More prayers and pixie dust are headed your way. When my DH had knee surgery up there a couple of years ago, we stayed in a hotel a night because we just didn't feel he was ready to travel. Plus, if there was a problem, we'd just have to turn right back around. Hope you continue to heal and work your way back from this ordeal. It sounds like you've been through a lot.

Nope scoot,, we are working with drs at univ of mississippi medical center in jackson ,, even worse than lr post op i been both ways,,lol,, we ussually do the hotel pre op.. by time they let me go i so ready to get away i dont really wantt o stay another night but the guys are reallyl doing a great job since pparently no one has ever had thier eye and both lids repaired to operational before. i think main reason the drs are trying so hard on me,, the head of the plastic surgery dept there told them they were wasting time and money , they should just put in an artifical globe and cover it completely by a graft,, no chance it would every work or be salvageableso far they are doing a great job of proving him wrong. seeu guys later, froggy
