View Full Version : What Is Your Most Disappointing Restaurant @ WDW

Most likely a place that you were excited to try or had heard good things about it.
Why was your visit bad & did you try it one other time & still not like it?
I would have to say mine was the Sci-Fi Dine In-
Was it the $11.00 cheese burger that was dry & over cooked?
Could it have been the $12.00 turkey sandwich? Arby's has a much better one for $7.50 less-
Sure that atmosphere was interesting but certainly not productive for conversation.
I was sure disappointed & will never return.

1900 Park Fare was one of them. The food was okay, although some foods were dry. The characters never came to our table. It was very expensive for a restaurant we didn't have as much fun in as everyone else.
Another restaurant for me was Sci-Fi, just like the post before me. The waiters screamed the movies so loud, I could not hear the actors. Kids were rowdy and disruptive, and the food was way overpriced.

For me, it would have to be Akershus in Norway at Epcot. After all the rave reviews, we went....and it was ok, not great. I would try it again, though, to see if we hit it on an off night. but we were definitelynot impressed at all.

boma for breakfast. we do not have a car at wdw; so, after all it took to get there for breakfast and after all the glowing reports, i just was not "blown away." another is akershus. the first time we went years ago it was great, but when we went a few years back disappointing. and did not care for the princess breakfast there.
The American Adventure in Epcot. YUCK. You call that a burger?
And Big River Grille on Boardwalk...food flavorless and dry..go to ESPN Club or Planet Hollywood.

I'd have to agree with the Sci Fi Diner. I had the cheese burger which was okay, but I didn't like the cars. We had to share with a family we didn't know and the cars were SMALL booth seats. I am bigger than the average woman and was very uncomfortable. And I know it's not Disney's fault that I'm big, but they seem to be able to figure out how to make seats for everything else that I "fit" into, how come make the cars so small.

"The Artist Point"! I know I will give them another try when I visit WL again! I just hated my buffalo steak...it was way too fatty!

But we just didn't go for Boma. I will say our waiter was fantastic! The food was just not to our liking, and the place was just way too loud! I love wine, but the wines here were way overpriced! We enjoyed the desserts, but just the desserts weren't worth the price. Glad we tried it once, but we probably won't go back again.
I have to agree with the Sci Fi also. The decor is great, but food, not worth it. Coral Reef doesn't make high marks either. Went once and it was pretty good, after that it continued to go downhill. Agree with the American Adventure too, cold and dry bugers. Nine Dragons did not wow me either, I can get better chinese food in my home town. (Did hear something about a new chef, so may try this one again), was just OK.

I have to agree with Big River Grille. Although we usually stay at BW, I doubt we'd ever go back. Food was very flavorless and the indoor seating area was a bit crowded.

Oh goodness-- how could I forget Fulton's? So-so food, awful service, including a waiter who decided to pocket a $60 tip (on a $80 bill and an 1 hour+ wait for our entrees) until we spoke with a manager.

The worst restaurant in WDW now was the worst restaurant 20 years ago: Capt Jack's Oyster Bar in Downtown Disney. We had a horrifying experience this February.
On a Saturday night the wait was 60-75 minutes; this wasn't the problem, as we spent the time browsing through shops and sipping frozen margaritas. When we were finally seated a charming and vivacious server warned us, "Stick to appetizers and drinks tonight if you know what's good for you." Sadly, we didn't follow her advice. My shrimp and linguini were cold, smothered in an inedible orange goop. Our waitress did what she could do to make the best of a dreadful situation; we tipped her generously.

Our biggest dissapointment was Coral Reef!
The atmosphere is great(we were seated right next to the fish tank) but the food was horrible, terrible, and yucky and on top of that it cost a million dollars(yes, I exagerate).
But really, we were very dissapointed here and will never go back.

Okay here it goes. I did not like Chef Mickey's. It was way too crowded, the food was just okay and I felt we were being rushed for the next group of people. I am going to give it a second try on my upcoming trip. Once for breakfast and once for dinner.

Beaches and Cream. I know that there are people who say these are the best burgers in the World, but that was not at all my experience. I ordered a kids burger because I wanted to save room for dessert - but still, the burger should've still tasted good, right? Well, it tasted so horrible I couldn't eat it. I have to say it was the worst burger I've ever had.
On the other hand, we love Sci Fi. It is a must-do for us every trip. We always get the burgers and shakes, and we have never been disappointed. Plus, we just love the theming there. Fun!
Just goes to show, there's something for everyone, and we all have different tastes. :D

LOL! I have to agree with you on this. DH and I went last May for dinner and were very disappointed. The atmosphere is nice, but that is about all it has going for it. I do not eat seafood, but DH does, so I was excited to eat here as we rarely go out to a seafood place and I knew he would enjoy it. Boy, was I wrong! I decided to get the pork chop and I don't remember what he had, but I can tell you we would have had a better meal at Red Lobster. This place is way too expensive and is highly overrated. If you are planning to spend money here, don't! Go to the California Grill instead. The price for our meals was comparable, atmosphere is just as good, if not better and the food at CR could not touch CG!

I'm not a big fan of Prime Time Cafe. One we used to like but hated it the last time we went was Alfredo's.
The wonderful thing about WDW is there is always something for everyone!

I would say Flying Fish. The fish was good but it certainly wasn't a $30 piece of fish. The waiter was downright rude, but that's a reflection on him rather than the entire restaurant. I may go back sometime and order something fancier.
The dessert rocked, though.

ohmygosh!! how could i have forgotten the horrible food at captin jack's?! never again!
We did not like Tony's in the MK. I think they are way overpriced and I didn't like the Eggplant Parmisan that I ordered. The atmosphere is lovely and our server was very nice. I just feel Olive Garden is better - cheaper and a bigger menu.
Capt Jack'S All I can say is slimey. We also hated the Char Breakfast at Ohana's greasy & the room is not set up well for the charaters.

Another vote for Coral Reef. My Mom raved about it when she went years ago, but when we went back a couple of years ago it was terrible. None of the dishes were any good.
I find it funny that Orlando Magazine's restaurants column lists many Disney restaurants as reader faves, but the favorite seafood restaurant was Red Lobster! Coral Reef never even made the voting.
I've also been disappointed by Akershus. To me it was eh.
We didn't like the restaurant in Mexico at Epcot. I LOVED the atmosphere but the food tasted like dogfood. I've never tasted dogfood but imagine that it would taste like the meals we had! I've heard before that the food there is "real" mexican food and the food at most mexican restaurants is "americanized" mexican food. We were there 10 years ago so maybe it has changed. I would love to bring the kids there but don't know what we would eat.

I'm going to have to go out on a limb here and say Brown Derby at MGM.
My wife and I went when we were there in 2000 for our honeymoon and the food was just too "foo-foo" for me. The presentation was great, but the food itself was only mediocre and I was pretty hungry when I left.

I will say the Brown Derby in MGM as well. We went for lunch and had a hard time finding something to order. We really should have left and gone somewhere else but we tried it and just won't do it again.

I know I will get flamed here:p - but my biggest dissapoinment was LeCellier lunch. We waited for what seemed like an hour for our steaks. When they arrived, they were lukewarm and the 3 tiny potatoes with them were stone cold. The steak was also chewy.:(

I was not a big fan of Mama Melrose's. My dinner was dry (I had chicken marsala) and the waitress was not having a good day. It's the only restaurant on Disney property that I have ever had a negative thing to say about. I hope it stays that way.

I know I will get flamed here but.............Citrico's!!
DH and I went last summer (no kids) and had a not so good meal. Service was lousy. Seating was totally opposite of where I requested (and it wasn't even busy) and food had to be sent back becuase it was fully cooked!!! The service was so lousy that even the head chef noticed we were not eating (sat close to the open air kitchen) and came over and asked what was wrong!! Out waitress was MIA!! He took DH's food back and by the time he returned with his cooked correctly, mine was cold!! And we had a toddler screaming and crying throughout dinner!! (As parents of 3, we do understand this happens, but please, after 15 minutes of non stop screaming, please take your child out!!!!)

Crystal Palace for lunch AND dinner.
We were very disappointed in the choices at the buffet, everything seemed dry or overcooked.
We tried lunch last June & were disappointed. We decided to go for the dinner for the MVMCP last December & again were disappointed.
The characters were OK, they best ones were Eeyore & Pooh.
Now we are trying Crystal Palace this June for Breakfast. I am hoping the breakfast is way better. We are going right when they open so everything should be fresh.
If not then I guess Crystal Palace will be written off our list ;)

Hi,
I have to agree that Sci-Fi was a big disappointment. It was a nice atmosphere but the food was pretty overpriced and pretty mediocre. Plus we had a waitress who kept talking about how she was being forced to work late because the park was staying open later that she anticipated. I felt bad for her, but definately made the meal even more mediocre. It was good to do once, but not again.

On our last trip we were disappointed by Marakesh. We had been there before and loved it, but last time the food was not impressive at all. We just felt the food was much more bland and boring. So we won't be going there next time. We'll try it again someday though, we love Moroccan food, when it's good...

Prime Time Cafe was our worst the last visit. The food was ok, not great. The service was ok, not really all that bubbly. The seating was horrible. They took apart a four seating table to make two two-seaters and we were stuffed between a family who kept getting up out of the booth and two other people. They had plenty of four seat tables available, but because we were just two, they stuffed us in the back. I will definitely ask for a different table if there is a next time! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

While we might have had worse meals elsewhere at WDW we'll have to go with these just because we expected so much more:
1) Le Cellier for its disappointing food and atmosphere.
2) Big River Grille on Boardwalk. Overly expensive preformed, precooked burgers.
We might have hit both on "off" nights, but we won't be back. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I have a tie between Big River Grille and Whispering Canyon. I couldn't stand the smell of BRG and our food at WC was horrible. The service was also lackluster. We were there for a late lunch and there was no fun and games while we were there.

Crystal Palace. It used to be so good before they brought the characters in. The buffet choices back in the early 90's were great, even for kids. But when we ate in 1998, not realizing that there had been such significant changes made, we were really disappointed. We still remember what it was like before, and now it's not great. The character interaction wasn't too bad, but the servers were rude. We haven't been back since.

While I don't recall ever having a horrible meal at WDW --where I sent something back, or just didn't eat it--we have had a few that were just not worth the cost. One was at Sci-Fi. The atmosphere was great; but the food was like counter service served at a table. Another was Chef Mickey's for dinner. The food wasn't especially hot or fresh or tasty. The character interaction was great though!

I know I'm in the minority here, but I will never again step foot inside the Prime-Time Cafe. The food was mediocre at best - we could easily find better at any local diner. And, our server? Well, when we were first seated, our server was great - had us laughing right away! However, somewhere in the middle of the meal, he left & we got this super obnoxious, LOUD waitress - she was awful. Yes, we expected to be teased at this place, but she was just WAY too much. We couldn't wait to get out of there, and talking to the people at the next table, we found we weren't the only ones. Granted, this was several years ago, but this is still the only restaurant on property I will NEVER return to.

Another one for Flying Fish. I had the steak, and I've eaten a lot of steak, and that was NO $40 steak. Plus, I ordered it well done (have to, due to a stomach thing) and it was brought to me really rare. Any competent chef should know the difference between rare and well done. Oh, and the waitress was, well, not rude, but not at all attentive. And she never did bring us water or ask if we wanted another drink.
ETA: DH had fish, and he thought it was OK but not worth the price.

I went to dinner at Cape May's and didn't think the food was anything special -- It was okay but nothing spectacular. The service was excellent though :)
I also wasn't too impressed with WCC at lunch. The service was good (I think our waiter sort of knew that we prefered to watch rather than participate :)) but I found the ribs that were on the all you can eat skillet to be too fatty. If I go back, I think I might try ordering something other than the skillet.

Some of the restaurants listed as peoples worst are our favorites. I will second both Citrico's (my food was awful; the tuna was inedible) and Flying Fish (the food was great but the service was terrible ).LOVE Boma, Fifties Prime Time, Brown Derby and Sci Fi. Will concede that Hollywood and Vine is the worst buffet at the World.

I agree with you and I miss the old Crystal Palace too. It was always a favorite of ours. But the restaurant I have no plans on eating in anytime soon would be L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante. The food tasted like it had been frozen at one time and rather bland. But what do I know? Some of the places I like were put down by others in this thread. To each their own!

Tony's - cold, extremely small portions for kids meals, burnt rolls, rude staff. Never again and this was our first meal of the trip. Thankfully the next was much better.
Sci Fi - Tried it 3 times and not again. Food is overpriced and not very good. It is worth a try once for atmosphere but that is it!
Pepper Market. We like the concept but food poisoning times 2 is too much of a coincidence. Never again!

Coral Reef at lunchtime. Shrimp were actually rubber balls disguised as seafood. Service was horrible. Waiter brought a salad and a soup (I think) to make up for everything else. Maybe it was a kitchen problem, but he was pretty spaced out himself. The freebies were the only good things we had. Tempted to try again since the atmosphere is so neat.

Narcoosee's. BAD ahi tuna (which when properly done is a favorite of mine). This was a week after 9/11 so I'm not sure if that was a factor.
Tony's. Miniscule portions. So so food.
Prime Time.
We really DID enjoy Coral Reef. The food was great and the service was fantastic.

Yak-itori House. Not sure what we ate, but it sure wasn't chicken. This meal was just gross. Will never eat here again. Love the sit-down restaurants in Japan though.
Second worst meal. Blue Bayou at Disneyland. Heard rave reviews about this place. Had freezer-burn tasting pathetic crab cakes and very cold steamed veggies. But the atmosphere here would blow you away--inside the Pirates of Carribbean ride. That part was awesome. Food was nasty.

I think a lot of the dissapointment comes from food choices. I am a vegetarian and I absolutely love the vegetarian meal at Coral Reef and Boma.
However we have also been there at slower times, so if it would have been jam packed, I'm sure we would of had an unpleasant experience.
We didn't care for our meal at Les Chefs de France. It WAS busy that night and we sat directly next to other people. The food was okay, and I had a stomachache all night from it. The rolls were good, though!:D
I also didn't particularly care for Boatwright's at POR. It felt too much like a Denny's to me (IMO)!

For us it was definitely Artists Point. We were so diappointed after hearing nothing but rave reviews. Our server was terrible, she wouldn't leave us alone, untilo she brought the food. Whle DH's was excellent, my steak ordered rare was served burnt to a crisp well done. Seriously overcooked, you could tell by looking at it. I sent it back, it was inedible. Even DH who will eat his steak cooked as much as medium well said there was no way he could have eaten it.
So I sent it back. The next one came out cooked medium, and on the medium well side of that. I had ordered it rare.
It was very disappointing.
We also had a bad experience at Portabello. The a/c was broken, and they sat us in a room that couldn't have been more than 60 degrees. We were so cold we had to leave half way through our meal, The server was terrible as well.
Other bad experiences...
Palio. The first time we ate there still ranks as one of the best meals/service we've ever had at WDW. We went back a year later with a party of six, the server was terrible and the food lackluster. Chocke dit up to a bad night and returned a year after that. What a mistake. The service was terrible and my sons chicken parm was served without sauce. Asked the server for sauce, she disappeared for half an hour. DS finally left to get a hot dog on the Boardwalk. We won't go back.
San Angel Inn, we went not expecting too much. What we got was below our already low expectations. Server took the order, we never saw him again. Terrible food dropped off by someone else. Over half an hour later we finally asked the hostess to find out check.
Le Cellier, last summer we had a terrible experienc with poor service and not so hot food. Chocked it up to a bad night, we've eaten there a dozen tiem prior and always been happy.
Others that weren't horribly terrible but I won't bother to return:
Tony's, lackluster service and food, not at all worth the price.
Pinnochio's Village House, terrible food, not enough seating.
Big River Grill, so-so food, so-so microbrew, and so-so service, so-so many better options.
Sci-Fi, been there, done that, not worth going back.
rainforest cafe, decent food but a bit expensive for the quality, pretty poor service.
Planet Hollywood, so-so food, so-so service, not worth spending vacation time to go there--basically a tourist trap.
ABC Commissary, food poisoning. DH and I ate the same thing, the next day both we so sick we couldn't get out of bed for two days. DS had something different and was fine.

Chef Mickey's. Not only was it highly recommended here on the DIs but also by many people IRL.
The food was horrible. Everything was cold, over cooked and tasteless. The much raved about mashed potatoes were awful. I remeber one UK poster here describign them as wall paper paste and suggested that americans haven't had good mash potatoes before if those were considered great.
The Desserts looked like a bunch of kids had been let making sand castles in them. I wouldn't touch them.
We were seating unpstairs, which is apparentl ya section the characters don't know about. The kids in our section were all crying because they kept seeing the characters visit the other sections. The server from another table had to go get the characters for us. I think we had been there 1 1/4 hours by then.
the services was non existent. Saw our server 2X. when he took our drink order and when he came wiht the bill. Drinks anlong with tiny carafs (held maybe one refill) for refills were left on the table while we were at the buffet. Made the table extremely crowded since all 4 of us had different drinks. All of us needed refills. I believe we finally got water from another server.

Another vote for Crystal Palace! We've been to lunch twice and both times were very bad. Last time though we were there for over an hour, the characters were terrible, 2 out of 4 never came to our table! Our waitress was non existant and the food selection was not good. I ate the childrens buffet! (mac&cheese, and pizza)(not worth $20!). I love Pooh, so having 2 bad experiences was such a bummer, we won't be going back anytime soon!
Also, we didn't like the pepper market. The food was not good and a little pricey for what it was. Also the service was not exactly Disney-quality. We saw a CM argue with a woman getting something for her son (who wanted fruit instead of a cookie and he didn't want to let hew switch. Is that really a huge deal?!?) After this, if we ate at the hotel, we just got those premade sandwiches from the convenience store, much better and cheaper!

Toy Story Pizza Planet - We love pizza, but the pizza we had there might as well have been served on a cardboard crust - tough and no taste! We will certainly never go back!
Mitsukoshi, Boma and Sci-fi -
Both are favorites of many, but I will not return. I did not like the food that Boma serves, too exotic for me, I ended up eating off kids' station and it was just not worth the $$ spent.
Sci-fi - overrated and overpriced. It was pricey especially both my kids wanted the souvenier cups with those glowing ice cubes.
The one we will definitely NEVER go again is Mitsukoshi in Japan. Expensive food and not so great food. Don't know if it had anything to do being it was NYE. But NEVER again.

Rose and Crown. Our booth smelled like stale beer and I've had better fish and chips at Long John Silver's.
The San Angel Inn. We dined there in '87, and it was pure magic! The menus were leather-bound, the servers were all well trained and personable, and the food was very good. All in the shadow of an active volcano!
Then two years later, we noticed that the entire operation had begun to fray a bit.
The next time we ate there, in '95, we vowed never to return! Our waiter understood very little English, we had to point to the items we wanted on the stained paper menus before he knew what we were talking about. Our food was mediocre and lukewarm, and downright cold by the time we snagged our waiter and sent it back. Whereupon they chose to nuke my fish dish, rendering it to the consistency of a slab of vulcanized rubber.
Although the manager did adjust our bill and was very pleasant about it, we haven't been back since, volcano or not.

Boma. Didn't like the spices. Food was done very well but just not my preferred style. The kid's buffet had rubbery chicken.
In fact, I am surprised that the AKL doesn't have a more generic offering available. The Mara had some more American-style foods but after 4 days, it was no loner appetizing. Not everybody wants to eat African for a week-long vacation.

Biergarten in Epcot - YUK!!! I've been to Germany many times and the food here was revolting - DH had the chicken which was rubbery and inedible - I had the sausages and sauerkraut which tasted like no german sausages I'VE ever eaten ......................NEVER AGAIN!!!!:crazy2: http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/NONO.GIF

There are so many other options on the buffet. Did you try any of them?

As far as having high expectations and being disappointed I would definitely have to say BOMA. We ended up eating mostly the kid's far (mac and cheese etc.). When we looked around us - many people were doing the same.
However, hands-down the worst restaurant is Planet Hollywood. I don't know why, but even after an awful experience the first time, we have gone back 2 more times and each time was just awful.
Another one worthy of this list is O'Hana's. It is kind of talked up as some kind of special restaurant for special occasions, but we found it just crazy with all the kids running around during the kids activities. Just not for us!!!

We went to dinner there back in December, and we were thoroughly unimpressed. It's been my second most disappointing dining experience, after Teppanyaki. The food was decent (and I love traditional Mexican dishes), but I thought it was overpriced for what we received, even for Disney standards. The tables were crowded extremely close together and I could reach out and touch everyone around me if I had wanted to.
We'll stick to the Cantina. :/

We were so disappointed with our one big meal splurge...Le Cellier! The service was horrible, we had the table right beside the kitchen door, and the food was worth about half of what we paid. For our $100 we expected A LOT more. I really had my hopes up for this meal...next time we'll try a different country.

Flying Fish. The food was okay (not fantastic), but I was expecting a lot more atmosphere I guess, from reading other people's reviews about how much they liked it.
Another disappointment was Beaches and Cream. I went there wanting to like it, but my burger was yucky and my chocolate peanut butter sundae came half melted, which I really hate!

Please don't flame me for this, but I did not care for Ohana's. I was so excited to eat there and I found the meat very dry and "blah." I know alot of people love it. Maybe I caught them on at the wrong time.

Tony's Town Square in MK was, by far, the worst and most disapointing restaurant I've experienced at WDW, EVER!!!
Chef Boy R'Dee could barf a better meal. I base my opinion mainly on food quality. The service was not great either, however.
Sci-Fi is no place for good food--from my experience. Dessert, perhaps...
Mexico (San Angel Inn) has food that only seems good in the dark. I love this place because of the atmosphere and service. I do go back because I love the place!
Overall, my DH cooks so it's hard to pay high prices for any food at WDW, but the restaurants w/ atmosphere are the best for us. We live where it's easy to get fresh fish so we have not tried some of the high-end seafood places. However, Fulton's prices are silly compared to what I'm used to here!

Boma. Service was great and we loved the atmosphere.
It wasn't our type of food, I guess. Besides the carved meats and a few of the deserts, we just did not care for it.

I've always liked Akershus: although I can understand if herring, mashed rutabaga, meatballs, and vinegar-laced vegetable salads are not your thing, you're probably not going to like it. Personally, I get my money's worth just forking in gobs of the smoked salmon. Another interesting taste-sensation is the brown cheese available on the cold cheese plate; don't know what it's called, but it's got the consistency of pressed peanut butter. Wouldn't want it every day, but it's appealingly different for a change of pace.
And if everything tastes bad to you, just have a shot of Aquavit to top off your meal; you won't taste anything else for hours.
Sushi in the bar in Japan is also a good choice. Get a seat by the windows and you have a great view of Epcot.
As for worst restaurants, there's plenty to choose from. Let's face it; you're in Disney for the attractions and the atmosphere; if you go for the food, you're sure to be disappointed. It's counterintuitive, though. When you sit in a long line to get into a place, you expect the food's going to be good, and it's weird when it's not . . . unless you realize that you're a captive audience. Everyone's got to eat, and everywhere's crowded. If you insist on decent food, I would recommend you go offsite: there's a good Benihanas in the Hilton near DTD, and once you get past that row of hotels there's a bunch of good franchise places that need to serve good food to stay in business. Try one of them.
All that being said, I still need to weigh in on my least favorite Disney restaurant: It's a tie among every place in the Magic Kingdom. IMO, there's just no good place to eat in there.

I've enjoyed reading this thread. When I first saw it I thought I shouldn't post because I might offend those who love the restaurants that we have been disappointed in but after reading all the responses it just shows that pretty much any place can be disappointing depending on individual tastes, what you order, the server you get etc.
Most disappointing experience - Artist Point. My mouth fell open when I read it on Ducklite's list since I thought I was the only one who had a bad experience there. We were staying at the WL and I had read such rave reviews I was REALLY looking forward to a good meal within our own resort. We took our children with us because although they don't always behave well at home, they like to dine out and they know how to behave. Because we had them with us we made an early p.s. This is the only time in any of our visits to LOTS of WDW restaurants that we ever felt we were "snubbed" because we had the kids with us. Even though the restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived they stuck us at a table that was just as you walk past the podium so the only view we had was of people checking in for their p.s. and the kitchen door. Our server started out acting like Rico Suave but then some college aged girls came in and he stayed at their table all evening leaving us and the one other table he had to totally forget us. Had to remind him to bring the bottle of wine we had ordered 25 minutes prior, he got our orders wrong, dh's came out before any of ours and by the time ours got to us my son's hamburger was literally stone cold and the bun was hard as a rock. My steak was very overcooked and cold as well. I wanted to send it back but he was nowhere to be found. Had to wait so long for dessert (because we'd basically given up on dinner and were still hungry) that I took the kids to our room and had dh wait on it. He continued to wait, and wait, and then wait for the check so by the time he brought our dessert back to the room the "warm cobbler" was cold and yuk! A cm made the mistake of asking us if we had tried Artist Point yet and we told her of our experience and when we got back to the room there was a message that they had taken the entire $125 + off of our bill which included the bottle of wine. We didn't ask for or expect that and I think it was good customer service on their part but I really would have rathered to pay the bill and have had a nice dinner there.
I tried it but won't be back - Two popular ones so don't flame me.
Alfredo's - Very rude, bad service on our first try there. I thought the food was mediocre but also thought it might be I didn't enjoy it because of the server. So gave it another chance a couple of trips later. This time service wasn't bad but main dining room was so loud and chaotic we couldn't make conversation. Our server was nice but he was so busy he was stressed. I wanted to like the food because I love Italian food. Again it was mediocre at best.
San Angel - Love the atmosphere but tables are close together and again, even though we love Mexican food we found their's to be very blah. We can do the ride to experience the atmosphere but we won't be eating here again. Other than that we have had good dining experiences at WDW.

SAN ANGEL INN
Would never go back. Service was poor. Waited sooo long before they brought out our first entree. Didn't care for the menu, food was nothing to rave about. Too dark in restaurant, would've liked to see the food in front of me. Tables too close together. Overall, thought it was way overpriced for the quality of food and dining experince . (That was a party of 4 adults)

Interesting thread....we have PS for Crystal Palace....I think we'll pass on this one. We have a few places in the "worst meal" category. # 1 goes to BOMA. I took one look at that ox tail soup, and I was all done, but our friendly server took our minds off the food. # 2 goes to Tony's. The food there is not Italian, it is shameful. # 3 goes to The Whispering Canyon Cafe. My DH became sick beyond belief after eating some bad ribs at this place....however we did have a good time prior to DH's downfall.
# 4 goes to the Garden Grille. Chip & Dale were great, but that fried catfish was nasty.
I can honestly say that we have never had a meal at WDW that we would consider to be fabulous....but that's okay....we love it anyway!!

Reading this thread would make anyone think there is no good food in WDW.
I personally loved my experience at Artist Point, but I will say the family sitting next to us did not, judging by how the woman was complaining and rolling her eyes.
Have never had a bad meal at the Coral Reef or Jiko. Hollywood Brown Derby is a must-do for us...absolutely fantastic.
However, I heartily toss my hat in the ring of people who say Captain Jack's was the absolute worst. Like you really want to be yakking in the porcelain trolley on your honeymoon!(as I was from 2am on). YUCK!!!!!
California Grill was also disappointing for us. Not bad, just a glorified Cheesecake Factory.

Reading this thread does make you think twice when you're making those PS!
Here's a 2nd for Chef Mickey's character breakfast and Coral Reef. Chef Mickey's was crowded, rushed, soggy pancakes, cold sausage, dried out donuts, overcooked eggs, it was gross and we never even saw a character. What a waste. Coral Reef was worse. I ordered a tuna steak, it was overcooked and dry! yuk!
I'll throw in another that hasn't been mentioned. The Princess Breakfast in Epcot. The greasy potato dish and the meat overload made me gag early in the morning.

Ours is Alfredo's in Italy at Epcot. We have tried the place three times and received TERRIBLE service every time. We know the old saying and are well beyond 'shame on me'. We will never eat there again. The food is good, the facility is beautiful, and the atmosphere is nice. Now if Disney could just get the wait staff from Le Cellier to train the Alfredo's staff!!!

I know I will probably get lots of flames but DH and I hated the bfast at Cinderella's Castle. It was horrible. The food was absolutely horrible!!!! However, we did have dinner there last trip and that was wonderful.
I have enjoyed reading this thread. It seems anyone can have a bad meal at any restaurant on any given day!
We had one day of total disappointing dining at WDW and it was a day we had so looked forward to....
Chef Mickey's :( and Tony's Town Square:crazy2:
We had such high expectations for the Chef Mickey experience and it just didn't live up to its hype. We were lead to a very out of the way table, asked to be moved, were moved to one by the swinging kitchen door (no better). Food was fair at best, character interaction was ok but just not the magical experience we hoped for. Afterward my kids (ages 8 and 11) said we didn't need to book a character meal next trip!
TTS is sub par at best. It is a pretty restaurant inside and we didn't expect perfection but the food was close to nasty IMO. We will never eat there again nor recommend it to anyone. We should have followed our plan B which was to leave MK and eat at Spoodles when we got back to our resort but the kids were really hungry.
Have had less than stellar encounters with 'Ohana and B&C but would probably give them both another try sometime.

My family's worst meal at DW was at Concourse Steakhouse. This was our Thanksgiving day meal and I wanted a meal with turkey and trimmings. We should have ordered steak. Absolutely awful!! And dishonorable mention would have to be Rainforest Cafe at AK. Long wait even with PS and food is only subpar.
That said, our favorite restaurant is one that has been mentioned as one of the worst. Alfedo's. We have never had anything but a wonderful experience here. To each, his own.

Like many others, I have to say Sci Fi. The food was ok, but kind of blah, and I didn't like having other people in our car. The worst part of it was that we are a family of 3, so DH and DS sat together and I had to sit by myself. I was bored.
DS loved it, so we may go just for dessert on the next trip but only if I can't talk him out of it. :)

Crystal Palace -limited options, lukewarm food, LOUD
Mama Melrose (I think this is the name - fake Italian food in the Studios)
Alfredos (same as above- different location)
Whispering Canyons - Shocked at the $$ for what was served in the family style dinner.

Artist Point - the worst meal of our honeymoon and the most expensive, too. Our waiter hurried us through our meal, even though the place was almost empty. My husband asked for his salmon well done and had to send it back to the kitchen because it was undercooked, even after his request. The whole experience left my unimpressed for the cost ($115).
Boma - didn't like any of the foods offered. I think they should make something available that isn't chicken fingers for those adults who can't find anything they like. Why did all the entrees have to have some kind of sweet sauce or gook over them?
Chef Mickey's - too many people jammed into one room, too much pressure to buy the photos, and too little interaction with the characters (thanks to the 30 Japanese tourists who each had their own camera in the same room as us).

I don't think we have had any really disappointing meals and we have eaten at a lot of places on this thread. I will say that we have had a couple of meals that were less than impressive:
CRT - for all the trouble you have to go through to get this, the food was not really anything we liked(but I somehow missed the stuffed French toast). And unless you get a seat near a window, I think the "magic" is missing. Being tucked away in the corner made it seem no different than dining in any restaurant.
Donald's Breakfastosaurus - the buffet was good but we felt really rushed and the character interaction was brief. My SIL's are both trying this in June so I will see if their experience is better.

I am SO glad to see someone else was underwhelmed at O'Hana. We had a great table in the corner by the windows, but apparently they don't begin the entertainment until around 6:30, or at least that's what our "cousin" said. So my 2 DN's and my 2 DS's didn't get to participate in anything. We only saw our "cousin" when he brought our first round of meat and apps out, then we had to flag down another server for refills. DH got fed up and asked the hostess for our check since we never saw our server again.

Chef Mickey's :( and Tony's Town Square :crazy2:
That icon next to Tony's Town Square is just too perfect. I'm still giggling uncontrollably.
Oh and I have to second whoever said Alfredo's at Epcot. That place is never worth it...huge waits for food that is about as authentically italian as the Olive Garden.

I would have to add Teppanyaki in Epcot to the list. The grill-table is very hot when they are cooking and unfortunately I was sitting directly in front of the chef preparing the meal. I could hear the drops of perspiration fall from his forehead and sizzle on the grill. Needless to say, I didn't eat much that evening. Not a pretty picture, and I apologize if the imagery offends anyone.
As an aside, I find it interesting that this thread is about "the most disappointing dining experience" and some of us can't resist the impulse to defend our favorite restaurants. I will say it is important to experience things first hand to make up one's own mind and sometimes places just have an off night.

We didn't care for O'Hana's either. We had a bad table and bad server. I think your table location and the server have a lot to do with how enjoyable your experience is at this restaurant. On the other hand, we really enjoyed the Kona Cafe and felt the food and the service was much nicer there.

lousy server at Boma for breakfast and the food was typical breakfast fare , not at all "exotic" ,which while good, I could have gotten at trails end for $5 less....did not live up to my expectations..so we skipped our dinner ps..may try dinner next time.
Ohana might be fun for some but did not think it was anywhere close to worth it unless maybe if you can eat a ton of food it would be...again it was ok food, just not as good as anticipated and probably would not go back.

O'hana's
I had a made a PS when we got there we requested a window seat and were told we would need to wait. I waited over an hour and decided to just get seated. Well we were seated on the aisle but low and behold there were three or four open window seat tables in our area. The food was okay but it gets a little hard to eat when you are being hit by hula hoops.

My son freaked out when he found out he could eat at Pizza Planet. After waiting in line for 15 min we were able to order. I thought it was very expensive, even for Disney. The Pizza was like eating cardboard. (My wife and I are both in Grad school full time and we have three kids, believe me, I know what cardboard tast like.)
This was probley our worst experience since we started going back as a family in 97.
Lunch at ABC Commissary at Disney Studios -- we also threw out most of our food. DH said he didn't realize ABC stood for "Already Been Chewed". Awful, awful, awful! Yes, I should have complained but I was too angry to be civil. Had to have a very early dinner that night.
