How can I get the best rates besides using Expedia or other sites similar? Should I take a rental co. onsite at MCO? I heard offsite companies can be an added hassle to get to. Any info please?

My opinion is that you should use discount codes for any organization that you are eligible for and then keep re-checking your car rental price online until you depart to see if prices drop. You can make another reservation and cancel the higher priced one. I have had good luck getting discounts as a result of being an AARP or AAA member but you can also get 10-15% off as a member of shopping clubs such as BJ's etc. Always make sure to check the price using a discount code and then again wothout the code. There is also a website called http://www.mousesavers.com that seems to offer good discount advice. good luck!

Also check RENTALCODES.com. Another place to "keep an eye" out for specials is Travelzoo.com

I prefer renting a car that I can get right at the airport without taking a shuttle bus. Hoowever for the right price I would take a shuttle bus to an offsite location.
