Has anyone said this to you since you've started losing weight?
I've had two people say this to me over the past couple of days. I am well over 200 pounds and am 5 feet tall. There is no way anyone could confused me with a skinny person.
One lady (bless her heart) said I could stand to lose about 20 more pounds but then I'd be "perfect". I thanked her and when she asked me how much more I intend to lose and I told her at least 80 pounds she almost fell over! It still makes me smile when I think about our conversation!
So has anyone told you that they were concerned you would get too thin?

Hey out of curiosity do you work with the elderly?
I do most - well at least 70% of my residents are elderly and they all think the thin girls need to put on weight they don't look good they think I'm just right:rotfl:
I can't wait to be told I'm getting to skinny! I want my new name to be twiggy;)

Yasuern - Nope, I don't work with the elderly. I was just surprised at my weight to hear someone say that I don't need to lose more than 20 more pounds. It was flattering of her to say but I've got a long way to go to get to where I want to be.
I'm with you - just call me Twiggy!

Were these folks overweight themselves? Could be they see the new you as a threat to THEIR well being?
Some people just can't handle it when others are having success where they have possibly failed. Do what feels right to YOU.

Two different people said that to me today. One an older gentleman told me I was getting to be a toothpick (at 160 lbs, I think not) and DS's teacher (whom I see a couple of times a week) said my aren't you getting skinny, how much weight have you lost. When I told her almost 60 pounds, she said isn't it a shame you have to lose that much for someone to notice. Most people have noticed, not sure what planet she was on, but I took the two as compliments anyway.
Compliments are great so even though I know they aren't 100% true I will take them, it is good for the self esteem. Enjoy!

THIS is the worst part of maintaining!!!! Everyone that says that I'm too skinny, and need to gain weight!
At first it seemed like a compliment, but now, it's just downright obnoxious. It really plays with my mind. "Well, if they say that I'm too skinny, then I can go ahead and eat!" I know everyone means well, but it really is trying!!!
Before I was too fat, now I'm too skinny - what do you people want?!?!?!?!?! :hyper: :hyper: ;)

Sometimes people don't know what to say, or think that saying you are too thin is acompliment. I weigh 192 (5'4") and have been told by a perfectly reasonable person that I shouldn't lose too much more. Hah! But I know they are just trying to say something nice!
It is nice to get ANY comment, though - I've worked hard for it, darn it!

When I lost weight in high school I had an aunt tell me I was getting too skinny. I was down to 135lbs so I was looking pretty thin - but then I realized she just wasn't use to someone in our family being that skinny. We all have slow metabolism and are carbohydrate intollerant.
I want my new name to be twiggy
We have a girl at work that is super skinny and that is what we call her!:p

Actually, my sister DID get too thin. It was a real issue with our family. So many things in her life were not *right*, and I think that eating (or more accurately lack there of) was the only thing she felt she could control! She looked GROSS! Her bones stuck out, her face was gaunt....it was really sad :( My mother even made her sit and watch that horrible movie about Karen Carpenter & her struggles with anorexia!
But she changed jobs, divorced her husband and has now moved on to a much healthier, happier life! ::yes::
SO....my point is that it IS possible for someone to become so thin that they make themselves sick. But for the vast majority of us it won't really happen. I think that sometimes it's that little part inside other people that's either insecure, unhappy, envious, or WHATEVER that makes them uncomfortable with our successes! :o That's sad too.....(for them! ;) )

My husband complains all of the time that I am getting too skinny, of course since I have lost weight my chest size has gone down considerably! I think that is the biggest reason he complains!

I am 41 years old, 5'2", and weigh 140 down from 150 and my Dad says "that's enough." I think he's just concerned. It goes in one ear and out the other. :)
Well it's not enough and it's not healthy and I am keeping up my this lifestyle for good. I can promise you I'll never get too skinny- I'm not capable of doing what you have to do to get that thin. My goal for now is 130 but I would prefer to end up at 125 and see where I am at then. It's taken me almost 2 months of careful eating and exercise plans to get down the first 10, and I imagine it'll take at least that long, if not longer to lose the rest. My DH is being very supportive and says it's working. I think sometimes he's concerned, but he had dated someone when he was in college who had an eating disorder, so I understand his bias.

There is a secretary at work who calls me "Skinny Minnie" every time she sees me. And no she doesn't know I am a Disney fan. ;) I think she sees it as a compliment. I have had so many people tell me not to lose anymore weight, including my boyfriend's best friend of all people. My BMI is near the high end of average so I'm not sure why all these people think I am going to whither away.

It's pretty depressing. I just tell myself that no one must have noticed how heavy I actually got so, why would they notice now?

After I had my first DS three years ago I worked really hard to get back into my pre-pregnancy clothes. I was really proud of that. My in-laws, howver, told me they were concerned because I was too skinny, obviously sick, and needed to see my doctor. When I told them I was the same size I had always been before the baby I can still remember the looks they gave me. My father-in-law cocked his head and squinted his eyes and my mother-in-law just said "Riggght." They'd probably try to hospitalize me if I was as thin as I was when I married their son!

I haven't had anyone tell me that yet this time around........but I'm sure hoping someone will! :teeth:
That said, I'm actually a little afraid to hear that. The last time I was down to my present weight my well-meaning stepmother who had been nagging me to lose weight started to nag me about losing too much. Now keep in mind I still need to lose about 40 more lbs, so there's no way I'm too skinny! I also love to eat way too much to ever be considered an anorexic. However, I listened to her & it got into my head somehow that I now had permission to go back to my old eating habits & now here I amalmost 9 yrs later having just dieted my way back to where I was then. Shame on me for using her well intentioned comments as an excuse to go back to my old, unhealthy way of eating! This time around I will look at any comments about my getting too thin a lot differently than I did then. I am determined to stick with a more healthy way of eating & of living. Besides, this time around I have the support of all you WISHers behind me! :sunny:
