Just got new screen saver from Member Services at DVC site!

Has anyone gone to the members only site at DVC ON Disney? They have a game to answer..5 questions to answer if you get them right you get a screen saver you can download with DVC scenes and pixs of MM outlines...I love it...Marianne :earsgirl: :wave:

I keep getting an error message that the internet site is down or experiencing difficulties. . . I used the e-mail I received from DVC to link to the site and even that has the error message. . .

I got it but it makes my taskbar at the bottem disappear and I have to shutdown to get it back.....spruce

I got it too but now I can't get it to work properly and all I hear is that "magical" noise!!! Starting to drive me crazy!!!!!!!!

My task bar disappears too, but if I click on enough icons on my desk top , it comes back. I'm not really surewhy.

Mine too spruce. I find if I Ctrl-Alt-Del and "End Task" on DVC member, the task bar comes back.

I tried the link that was sent in the email, but it didn't work for me. So, I Just went to the DVC Member site, and in the corner, it said take the DVC quiz, and I did, and got all 5 right (Imagine that) and downloaded the screen saver. I think it's really cute. Love those Mickey Ears!

use the escape key and your desktop and task bar will reappear.

I don't like musical screen savers or losing my taskbar, (didn't know to try hitting the escape key) and it didn't want to return to live screens right away when I hit the mouse or hit a key so I un-installed it. If you think about it, it's kinda par for the course. Look at the potential the members only site has if DVC would just DO IT RIGHT !

I downloaded the screen saver from the Members' site but it only runs for about 30 seconds or less before it returns me to my desktop (like I jiggled the mouse). Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas?

Hi Nut,

I had the same problem but the "magical" music kept on playing even though the screensaver wasn't on my screen. Drove my DH crazy as he was trying to do some work in his office. I thought the screensaver would have been a nice surprise since we leave for home in 24 days and wanted to get the family in the spirit!

If there is anyway to fix it please pass it on. My DH ended up deleted the screensaver!!!!!!! Hope I can pass the test the second time!

Downloaded the screen saver yesterday and we just Love it. No problems downloading or running. Guess we are just lucky! Makes you homesick for your home away from home. Only 18 days till our first DVC WDW vacation at OKW. Can not wait!

We answered 5 out of 5 and downloaded the 2MB file (twice). Each time any attempt to run or install gives an error message saying the requested file is not a Win32 application. Oh well......

I also have not been successful in even getting into the contest. Is there anyone with successful results who would like to volunteer to E-mail me the program. I would love to have it. There's a shiny new nickel in it for you as well as being mentioned in my will (you ain't gettin anything, but you will be mentioned).

If you are having trouble getting into the contest, try switching which internet browser you are using. If you are trying in Internet Explorer and cannot get in, try going in in netscape. That worked for me. Good luck!

Is there anyway someone could post a site to go get
the screen saver? or maybe send it to me?

I have tried to do the quiz and it opens up a window
in netscape and then hangs for awhile. Then an error
message comes up saying it can't find the server. I
don't know what it's all about, but I have tried
for the past week several times a day and to no avail.

I downloaded the screensaver and didn't have any problems at all. My taskbar doesn't disappear and the screen save shuts off as soon as I touch the mouse. I think you need to download it during a slower time on the net. Late at night or early on weekends. Be sure to click on Mac if you have a Mac or PC if you don't have a Mac. It is worth the trouble. We love it!!

I just tried again and I get the same error message which reads:

netscape is unable to locate the server andy:8017.
Please check the server name and try again.

I'm trying to do this through my netscape browser. I would think that would work, but maybe that's the problem?

Oh well, maybe someone can attach the file and anyone else having a problem can also get it that way.

Did you also try it in Internet Explorer? Perhaps Java is not enabled in your browser, or there is some setting that needs to be changed. Like I said earlier, originally I thought it was internet traffic, but then I tried switching browsers and that worked for me (and then I tried immediately after on the original browser, and it *still* wouldn't work)

I believe the quiz is written in Macromedia Flash...maybe that plugin needs to be updated on your browser? :)

I've been having the same problem too. I wonder if we have the same internet company and that is why we are getting the error. I'm also from MA and we have RCN!!! I'd be interested to know.

My wife and I both love it. Had a hard time with those H.H. and V.B. questions but the screen saver is working great.

After many tries and many successful quizzes (5 out of 5), I was finally able to download the screen saver. Just to hear the "If you believe in magic" jingle was worth the effort and the pictures are great. If anyone would like a copy, just E-Mail me and I'll send you one. Please let me know if I shouldn't be doing this (copyright laws etc). Don't want to do anything I shouldn't be doing but it seems like more of an advertisement than a screen saver and I don't think Disney would mind, but I could be wrong.
