A Disney nut from Nutley, NJ here, but we are moving to Maryland as soon as I retire. However, we've come to realize the winters in MD will be like those in NJ, so we are thinking Florida for January to April. Wouldn't it be great to be at WDW for those four months? How many points would I need?

Just revisited here and was thinking that it would be great to be eating some fresh, warm rolls from Lodi Bakery, Lodi along with some warm heavy crumb-cake from B&W Bakery, Hackensack.

Any other transplanted takers for these great food items?

Rules down here are that anyone coming down from up north or anyone going back north, must bring some of that crumb-cake down with them.

It's been over 20 years since we've had the rolls but the crumb-cake can be frozen for weeks and is still great when it is thawed.

Buy 2 so you can eat a whole one and not worry about others not having any.

My brother made a trip up to N.J. a couple of years ago and came back with 10 of them.

Had a BD celebration for our mom last year and my nephew who was stationed in DC drove to Hackensack to pick up 6 of them, 2 for the party and 1 for each of us kids.

Since he flew right out after picking them up we almost had same day baked cake.

Alyson

WOW! Thanks for the offer. Maybe we could start an overground railroad of sorts for all the transplants down here. Someone comes down for a WDW stay and brings down some CC and then we can all meet and eat.

We are 150 miles from WDW but DD is much closer. Might just take you up on that.

Have seen them but never tried them. Will say that they are not as crumby though.

Born in Rochelle Park, grew up in Paramus, moved to Galloway Township, live in Absecon. Have traveled the GSP more times than I care to think about, still have family in Paramus and Wykoff.
Having lived both North and South, I can say that each end has it's pluses and minuses.

North Jersey Plus: NY City, Shopping Malls, White Castles!!!

North Jersey Minus: Traffic Congestion (Rt. 17 & Rt. 4), Shopping Malls, Newark Airport!!!

South Jersey Plus: Open Spaces, Shopping on Sunday, WaWa's, Atlantic City Airport!!!

South Jersey Minus: Philadelphia Sports Teams (We do like the city however), the last few traffic circles that no one can apparently drive, construction boom!!!

No matter what end of the state you are from all of us here share one very important thing in common... a strange and bizzare affection for Disney and DVC.

"DVC a uniter, not a divider"

Another Clifton girl here! Born in Garfield, moved to Clifton at age 5, St. Andrew's & Paul VI. Lived in your old neighborhood for 10 years...Nelson Street! Now live off Allwood Road...Can't wait to move to FL where it's warm. But I'll always be glad to say that I grew up in Clifton, NJ!!

Okay, this is toooo interesting. I grew up on Nelson Street, house number 14.
At the bottom of the street, close to Broad Street.

So interesting cause when I was growing up I thought we had this really big yard but when I went back and drove down the street it all looked so small.

I was born in Perth Amboy, I grew up in Florham Park, went to Rider College in Lawrenceville, lived on LBI college summers, lived in Edison, then Woodbridge, and now I'm in Scotch Plains since 1994. I've never lived anywhere BUT NJ... I'm a Jersey girl!:thumbsup2

I was raised in Jersey City and Paramus, attended college in South Orange and now live with my family (after a 19-year sabbatical in DC and Virginia) in West Orange. We're huge fans of vacationing in Florida, but we're not likely ever to move there. San Diego or Orange County, CA is where we dream of moving.

We should plan a NJ DVC gathering some November during the NJEA convention. We were in Disney for the November 2008 convention, but we are going to Marco Island for the November 2009 convention.

We used to live in Vernon, N.J. (home of the former Vernon valley ski resort/ Action Park - now Mountain Creek ). I was born and raised in West Milford, N.J. though;) . Now dh and the kids and I have moved to FL and have been here for 3yrs now - Yay!!:teeth: Our families still all live in Passaic and Sussex counties though.

I was born and raised in West Milford too! Now DH and I live in Wharton, Morris County. I'm working on convincing him to move to Orlando before we retire... one day he'll give in!

I am wishing I didn't live here in NJ at this point in time... By the time I get to be 60 I will be living off the state because the bills here are getting out of control.

Born and raised in Clifton (a long time ago). School 13, Woodrow Wilson Junior High, and Clifton High School (class of '68, yeah I know I'm old). No longer a N.J. resident but heading back for a visit (to see my parents) for Easter.

I was right behind you (class of 71) just wanted to say, we're NOT old!!! :)

I'm no longer a resident of NJ either, and rarely get back. Just wanted to say hi, cause these posts are making me feel a bit nostalgic.

My Aunt taught in Clifton, can't remember the school # but it was on VanHouten Ave. I think she would have been teaching when you were there.

Woodrow Wilson (Junior High) was on Van Houten Ave. There was an elementary school also, I think it was #2 (my memory can fail me at times)

Was she a junior high teacher or elementary school?

Yeah, wow, School 2 was on Van Houten (between Grove and Broad Street), School 13 also on Van Houten but in the Athenia Secton (across the street from the Carvel; Carvel not there anymore), and also School 1 (at Van Houten and Broadway, but in Passaic).

Thanks for the memories.
