We are taking the train to WDW from Boston. We have a six hour layover at Penn Station. Please tell me there is some interesting stuff to do around there...DS will be 8 and DD will almost be 3. Its the one part of our trip that I'm dreading.

You'll have time....take a walk or grab a cab and check out Times Square. It's one of the jumpingest places to visit in NY. Or take them to the Empire State Bldg. It's a few blocks away....the lines will be long but it shouldn't take 6 hours.

Walking distance is Empire State Building and Macy's department store (claims to be worlds largest dep't store). Longer walk (or short cab) Times Square (Planet Hollywood, MTV studios...) If you're not under a budget you could probably do a 2 or 3 hour circle line boat around Manhattan (see the Statue of Liberty). Depending on the time of the day you may be able to get to the Central Park zoo.
There is so much to do there. You are in walking distance to all the stores. You can window shop. My DH and I go all the time to NYC to just walk around. We are only a 1/2 hr train ride away. Michelle

As you can see from the previous posts there is alot to do in NYC! Penn Station is right under Madison Square Garden, as the previous poster said and you even take an escalator to get up into it. I would check out the links in the post above and I also like AOL's guidebook website.
We have two children 10 and 6 and we go into NYC frequently. We too are about 1/2 hr. away by train.
Don't dread this part of the trip. Just think you get the extra advantage of spending some time in a great city on your way to the Magic!

Thanks for all your help guys. I guess there is a lot to do. We've only been into NY a couple of times and I wasn't exactly sure where exactly Penn Station was in regards to everything else.
Thanks again.:D

We took the bus tour there last July when we were there to see BRUCE it was great. There were young kids on it and they seemed to be enjoying themselves.
