I am 48 and my wife 47. We ate at the Calif Grill 3-12-04. I made a PS for 6:30 and requested a window seat. Everything worked out well except we had to eat slow so we could make it to see Wishes blast off. Here is the scoop if you need a neat idea. They pipe the music in when Wishes starts and you hear Jiminey Cricket do "When you wish upon a star". (The fireworks start), That is the time to drop to your knees and give it to her. You will be the hero of the place while the songs goes on about wishing on a star and your dreams come true. Almost made me wish I could have proposed again! (see what Disney does to old people )!

Forgot to mention had the best meal while at Disney(also the most expensive) I had the pork tenderloin, DW had the scallops, and DD had some type of rigitoni. Also split a great mushroom flatbread and salad, plus two desserts. total with tip $140.00.

Um hello guys - i don't think you read his posting too carefully - He didn't actually propose - he was already at dinner with his wife and daughter- he was just giving suggestions to others for the perfect proposal. Am I right postmanrings?

My wife and I were engaged on a private launch that set out from GF ~ 12 years ago. I had called ahead and asked to speak with someone in sales/marketing. This very helpful young lady and I concoted a devious surprise for my bride to be. we had our own captain, complete with champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and fresh tulips - my wifes favorite flower. we gazed under the moonlit sky up @ the firework show and then with a nod, the "captain" presented my wife, (then girlfriend), with a silver covered plate. she opened the top and there inside was Cinderellas glass slipper, Inside the slipper was her engagement ring which I had handed off to the captain when we boarded the launch.

Good eye "Growin" I have been married 27 years and it just came to me while at dinner that night how neat it could be for someone else to do. But look at the post before me, he got me beat, he and his future bride must have took a space ride as they were launched! lol lol!

my dh proposed in front of the castle on sept. 8, 2001.
it was our first day and we weren't in the park 10 mins....afterward he said he was so excited he just couldn't wait (he had planned to do it at cindy's bfast on the 11th. i'm glad he didn't)
it was a private moment and one of my most treasured memories.

I believe it was May 2001, we had just watched Tinker Bell fly above us, we were right in front of the castle, when my DW
elbowed me in the ribs, 5 feet in front of us on the grass was a young man on his knee proposing, I must say it was awesome.

AWESOME! Congrats! I also got engaged in the world over 10 years ago. Hubby did it in the castle during dinner. Wonder how many have gotten engaged at WDW? Wow, I bet a bunch!
Best wishes!

My DH proposed to me at Victoria & Albert's 7 years ago. He had called ahead and had a dozen roses waiting at our table when we arrived. We were in the side room of the main dining room, if any of you are familiar with the restaurant. There was one other group in the room with us. We were right next to a beautiful fireplace. Before the "Albert" brought out the dessert, he brought out a covered silver tray. The ring was on the tray surrounded by rose petals. Then they brought out a little cake that said "Congratulations". It was just perfect! :)

Proposed to wife at Crystal Palace. She is a HUGE Tigger fan. I told the CM my plans and he made sure Tigger came to our table at precisely the right time. As I was reaching into our bag for the camera, (I had already gave it to the CM), I pulled out a crystal slipper I bought in the castle and the ring was in it. The rest. was very crowded and it made it even more magical. We will be celebrating our 1yr anniversary at the AKL.

GREAT JOB!!!!! POSTMANRINGS!!!
When you return for your 25th Aniversary Dinner repeat your plans identically , but just sit their and don't say any thing to your love while the fireworks go off.
Let her talk and make the first move with the aniversary gift exchange and accept her gift, feel overwhelmed and say you didn't expect her gift.
You must coordinate with the waiter and matradee the timing of your gift.
Tell them to watch for the gift sequence by her and immediately bring the desert cart to the table and explain to you and yours the chooses to throw off the akeward moment for you.
After she and you make your desert choices, the waiter should bring out from under the cart the last choice in the form of a WDW gift box, which is placed in front of your love, where she will open and find a 18 inch stuff animal doll of the Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey holding in his hands a ring box when opened reveils a 25th Annivesary Diamond Ring.
MAN ! I never saw a woman totally fall apart and off a chair with a BIG tears and HUGE smile on one,s face.
The staff at the California Grill were very cooperative in all aspects of the evening.

Once as a CM, I saw someone propose in the garden gazebo in the UK of Epcot. He must have called ahead, because Winnie the Pooh and Friends were on hand. For the couple it was somewhat private and spectacular!
Later, as a guest, I was with a cousin who was checking out the Wedding Pavilion. A couple got engaged outside overlooking the castle while we were there and asked me to take pictures! It was a very lovey moment.
What about renting a boat for Illuminations and asking the question then?

Our son proposed 22 days ago. His now fiancee is an intern at WDW and didn't expect him to fly down that weekend. He sent her a box with a dress, shoes and a bag and a note to meet him at the CG...except she wasn't to open the box until told to do so.
They had sushi and wine at CG and then strolled over to MK and watched WISHES from the train station. The plan was to take a launch:boat: over to the GF but they weren't running that night. So they took the monorail over. There they had dinner at V&A which was a first for her and only the second time for our son. After a great dinner (but no rose:( ), they strolled over to the Polynesian to "their hammock." And there he proposed.
When she described it to me over the phone the next morning, I had tears in my eyes. Still get a little misty thinking of it.

So many people raised good sons! I am going to print all these out and give to my DS (he is only two) so he wont be like his dad and grandpa before him. They BOTH proposed the same way- threw a bag to me and my mother in law in the car outside the mall they got the rings at!
Not quite the same thing...but whenever we go by the wedding pavilion at the GF when we are on the monorail, I tell my son that that is where he can get married. He just rolls his eyes at me.....after all, he is only 9! :)
I have loved all your romantic stories. My MIL had given DH her engangement ring when she saw we were getting serious. The night he proposed he couldn't get the words out and he ended up saying something like - "Would ya?" :) I did, and we'll be celebrating 17 years in June.

My fiancee proposed to me during dinner at the California Grill in June of 2002. We were vacationing in WDW for our second trip together. I had no clue he would propose because he had spent the last 6 months telling me he probably would propose until after the holidays (meaning Dec2002). That was part of his plan because he knew it would take a lot of work to fool me in my favorite place on earth!
He went crazy to get us a great seat to watch the fireworks. I still had no clue b/c he went through the same trouble on our trip 2 years prior for my birthday dinner at CG. During the fireworks with the music piped in, he came around to my seat, got down on one knee, said some wonderful things and proposed! I was in shock. We cried and hugged! People seated near us were crying along with us.The whole restaurant was in on it, and they were cheering and clapping! Some people took pictures of the proposal and then got our address after dinner to send them to us! The maitre'd found some California Grill postcards and a velvet wine case with the restaurant name and year 2002 printed on it as a memento. It was a moment we will both never forget.
Just wanted to share that story with you and relive the joy we felt back in June of 2002. We are just 6 weeks away from our big day now and we can't wait to be married.

Those are all great ideas/stories!
My fiance proposed to me during Illuminations in Oct. '03. We were back away from the crowd in front of the castle in Canana overlooking the waterfall . . . . . it was perfect. :love2: (And I am still shocked because somehow I never saw it coming.) We will be married in Nov. and will spend part of our honeymoon at WDW-- it just seems right. :lovestruc

We were at the Polynesian luau and they "randomly" pulled a couple up on stage. At that point, we all realized it wasn't so random, when the guy got down on his knees and proposed to hs girlfriend!! It was so sweet....everyone in the audience cheered!
