I have one just for Disney and Christmas. I seem to go overboard on both!! My family thinks I'm nuts.

Well, I didn't get an second job exactly . . .

Here is what we do. DH and I both have "regular' jobs. He works as the network supervisor for a local school system and I work with the theater department of our local university as a director.

We also have "extra" jobs. He does freelance web design and I teach children's acting and dance classes.

Any money from our "extra" jobs goes straight into our vacation fund - not just for Disney, but for any trips we take during the year. We usually get in three or so good trips a year this way, without going into debt. This year we are doing Disney in May, Williamsburg in June, San Antonio in August, and Disney again in October for the Halloween party.

i am getting a job at our ymca ..just a part time job and all the money will pay for our disney trips...and working at the ymca you get your membership free plus all your classes and then you only pay like 8 bucks a month for your family to be members so it saves money at the same time your making money..........also....your working at a great place!!!

I already have a part time job (I'm a speech therapist in a school) but a couple of times a year, I am asked to work extra hours on my off days. I just finished working some extra hours in the last few weeks, and it always goes to "extras". In this case, that means baton nationals in Arizona for my dd or our WDW world trip in August. Both trips are pretty much taken care of, money wise, but I may decide on something extra.

My only job pays for Disney and hockey. DH gets the pleasure of paying the bills and all I am here for is the fun.

My second job is not a new one, but I have been squirreling that money away for our Disney trip in April. I do privat duty nursing for an elderly lady every Friday and Saturday night.

I work at a private country club and any time one of the members need am extra hand at a party at their house, I put the money in my vacation fund. That way we can go on trips that we normally couldn't afford.

As a 4th year medical student, I don't have time for a FIRST paid job. I PAY $40K/ for the priviledge of learning (working) ~80 hours a week :( -- but I LOVE what I do. :teeth: I did help run and teach a session for the 2nd yr students earlier this year. The money I earned there is going toward our disney trip in May.

All last summer, I wanted to find a second job, to put money away for a vacation to WDW. So I applied in Sept. at our Kohls for 2nd or 3rd shift.
I started Oct. 1 and got 3rd shift changing advertising signs (Signing). Oct. 15 my husband got laid off. So much for WDW World. I stopped my 3rd shift job 3/4 nites a week in Feb. It was hard working days and nites and I put it in God's hands. My husband starts work Monday:bounce: for about 3/4 of what he earned before he got laid off, but this is better than unemployment.

We went through all our savings paying for COBRA Health Ins. $800 a month and we have to keep paying that for a couple of months yet, so I can only still dream of WDW. It really hurt getting the Post Card for $59 to stay at Pop Century. Oh well, at least I can say I've been to the world twice.:bounce:

not really a second job only for WDW, but i run a small wedding cake shop in adition to working partime ( i call it my weekend job) and i have dedicated this years profits from the cakes to the WDW trip. it hopefully will pay for out tickets, food and spending money, i have a goal of $2500. ( i know more than average family would need for those items, any extra will come back into the bank) :)

No I don't get a second to pay for Disney. I am blessed enough to be a server so I make great money in tips. Every Sat, I take loose dollars and change and dump it into my savings jar. Right now, it stands at about $190 dollars. If I continue to do this as I have been, our trip will well be paid for before May of 2006!! ::yes:: :teeth:
I also have a "float fund" in my checking account which stands at about $230 right now. That money is strictly there for emergencies only, BUT if nothing ever happens, I will use part of it to pay for our Disney trip in May of 2006. I also use our income tax refund to pay for the trip as DH and I usually ALWAYS get back well over $1000! :hyper:
I just consider myself blessed that when I do have a second job, it's only because I want to not because I have to to fund a trip to Disney or to get bills paid. :D

I used to do this.

I was a photolab manager as my day job and I shot weddings on the weekends and that would pay for any extras like new furniture, DVD player, trips, downpayment on car and condo, etc.

What I did was if I made $800 on a wedding, I would give myself $50 to $75 from that to buy something right away so I would see the fruits of my labour and would not feel like everything I made was for DISNEY... One time I got a spring coat and another time it was a blender etc...It worked very well.

Now I co-own and manage a motel and Chalet business and we are closed in the winter. I don't pay rent or food (parents own a grocery store and the building I live in) so most of our money is being put away for a new home in 2 years and pocket money goes for trips like his brother's wedding next year and Indiana for a Star Wars convention DH is dying to go to...

I hope all your hard works pays off and all your trips are great.

Hockey and Disney ... sounds like Hockey Mom pays for all the important stuff in her family ;)

(Out of curiosity, what positions do your kids play?)

I work full-time in a public school, and started a 2nd job last August in a video store to save for our trip. I'm not very good at saving, though........I just used most of our income tax return to pay for our trip. I use my second income to pay bills.

I didn't get it for Disney, but that is where it is going! I took a very little job (1 hour a day) at my kids school mostly as a favor to the Principil, who was not having any luck filling it. I am the afternoon crossing guard! I love it, I work out doors, get to know a lot of the kids, and I was going to the school to pick up my kids anyway. I stay about 15 minutes longer than it took to pick my kids up and get $50 a week towards WDW!

So my husband was asking me this morning why I am trying to get a job waiting tables at night. Disney money. My kids will only need a sitter about two hours a night three nights a week and I can pay for our AP's, airfare, food, ect...
