DVC resort discounts when using cash

I remember reading somewhere in the member materials that you can get a discount at the DVC resorts when you use cash to pay, instead of points. I am wondering if this is right and, if so, what kind of discounts can you usually get. We are looking into staying at Hilton Head in early August , in a 2 bedroom. It will be about 400/night without any discount.

There is a 25% members discount for cash reservations, if you can land one. Sort of like AP discounts. They are there, but hard to get.

The DVC 25% cash discount is available only when the member's inventory of rooms is not taken by point reservations.

There are times when this is possible, but DVC is unlikely to offer it at 11 months at any resort. HH will be difficult to get the discount during the summer....but NOT impossible. You may be given the cash discount on a cash reservation if it later becomes available.
