At long last, The Earl of Sanwich is nearing completion in the Marketplace district of Downtown Disney. Tonight I will be attending a test meal, and I'll share my thoughts just as soon as I can. (hopefully I won't miss the first few minutes of the Oscars... but hey, it's food!)

So does this mean Earl of Sandwich IS infact open? I am a bit confussed by Steve's post. Thanks in advance for the clarification! I guess I cannot think straight because I am so excited to go to Disney. I leave in less than 3 weeks... yah!

It opens Tuesday morning at 9.

The sandwiches are simple, big, and relatively inexpensive.
All hot sandwiches (known as "The Earl's Hotties") are $4.95. They come on a 6" roll that has a good crust, but is quite soft. I had "The Full Montagu" which consists of Roast Beef, Turkey, Swiss Cheese, Leaf Lettuce, Tomato Slices, and an "English Mustard Sauce." I opted to substitute horseradish sauce for the mustard.
My friend had the Club (Turkey, Bacon, Tomatoes, Cheese, and mayo).

There is a wide assortment of standard sandwiches, including "The Original" (Roast Beef), and a Tuna Melt. The menu also includes a variation on the Cobb Salad, a Chinese Chicken Salad, and cold sandwiches from a "Grab and Go" section.
You order your food at one end of the counter and pay, order drinks, and pick up your meal at the other end. They offer the standard selection of fountain drinks, freshly brewed iced tea, and "The Earl's Grey Lemonade" (60% lemonade, 40% Earl Grey tea) which is very refreshing (think Lipton's "Brisk with Lemon" done right).
There are tables inside and outside, and they have a nice selection of merchandise (hats and t-shirts proclaiming "original since 1662."

I forgot to order crisps, which are house-made, but next time I will be sure to try them.
While I miss Gourmet Pantry, I'm pleased with EoS as a replacement. The selection is plentiful, the prices are reasonable, and the food is tasty.
