Since your committment to better health, what have you given up that you don't even miss any more. Maybe you even wonder how you ever ate this, or did that before.
For me, it's fast food. Can't stand it. Don't like the taste, and really don't like the way it bloats me for days afterward.

French Fries!! And there are so many good things to eat that I haven't even missed them!! I never would have believed it!
I've also given up my old "couch potato" ways. That one hasn't come as easy as giving up fries, but I'm gettin' there!:D :D

I really don't miss bread. I've found it was more of a convienence than a great food. I've just had to get creative to substitute for sandwhiches, etc.
I do, however, miss pancakes. I LOVE pancakes.

I hear ya! My whole fam damily ate pancakes last Sunday. Yummy pancakes with whipped gram and warm buttered syrup. I had Quaker Multi Grain Cereal with splenda in it.
I was miserable, but proud. See, I couldn't have just a small one. OH NO! I would eat them til I popped! ::yes:: So No Pancakes, waffles, french toast (Could eat a loaf!) for me.
Keep the Faith!

Ok, I am missing food - Especially when I walk through the mall and everyone is dinking their Coke and enjoying their Taco John's or pizza. I know I can eat all of that on WW but I have learned that I want to spend my points wisely on something that will fill me up. Unfortunately Coke has not come up with a Diet pop that does not TASTE diet - it's just not the same. BUT I did get my new clippie today so I will be OK. I like to pretend that I'm not even tempted by them.

French fries. I love french fries. But they are not my friends anymore. :( I do miss them.

Unfortunately, I do miss everything I have given up. I especially miss my popcorn, potatoes, pasta, & good, tasty, crusty bread. I am surprised, however, to find that I do not miss hamburger rolls. I also do not miss all the extra lbs I was carrying around all the time! :jumping3: :teeth:

I gave up fast food years ago and desserts in general....but since South Beach I've given up all rice, all pasta, all bread, all fruit, all alcohol - and popcorn
The only thing I still seem to miss is the occasional glass of wine or celebratory drink and I don't really think about popcorn anymore (I used to eat it every night) unless, of course I am at the movies...in which case I am very :-( *I think I only went to movies for the popcorn - LOL!!!
I have found that most of the time I'm not even very hungry anymore....can hardly finish my meals. I guess that's good - and probably because its just not as "fun" to eat!!!!
Now, when I go to Disney in oh, 11 days, I'm going to have a Lapu Lapu (the rum drink in a pineapple) at least once!!! A girl's got to LIVE after all!!

I'm following South Beach and I have given up:
*sugar - don't miss it at all thanks to splenda and a clean 2 week Phase 1;
*french fries - surprised I don't miss them! I was a fry fanatic. I had lunch with one of my sisters today and I ate a grilled chicken ranch salad and she had McD's fries. I wasn't even tempted. Not even a little bit!
*mash potatoes - thought I would miss them but I really don't.
What I also don't miss is the 35 pounds I have lost since I started SBD! :)

Have one for me too! My all time favorite drink! (i remember when they were $3.75! ) Last few times I've been, I've not gotten to the Poly. No wonder I don't look back on those visits as some of my best! I totally understand. I'll never give that up.
Keep the Faith!

I really miss Nachos Grande. Wonderful chips with hot melted cheese, salsa, refried beans and guacamole. I can't just eat a few. When I think back on how I would routinely polish off a whole platter, almost all by myself, it is no wonder that I was 65 lbs. over my acceptable weight. I thought I would miss chocolate more than I do & I never thought I would miss nachos more than chocolate!

I was a Pepsi addict before dieting. I find that the longer I stay away from it, the less I want it.
Now chocolate...That's a different story. I need a fix daily. Just one little piece satisfies me though.

With my plan (eating sensibly) I haven't had to truly give up anything but I went from 4-5 cokes a day to most days none at all. I miss it a lot less than I would have imagined in the beginning. I don't miss at all the 47 lbs I have said :wave2: to!

I've given up desserts except for on major holidays and immediate family birthdays.
Man, Easter can't get here fast enough!:hyper:
I've also given up the attitude of not wanting to exercise. I've been sticking to my routine of at least 3 days a week of semi-intense intentional exercise. Now if only the scale would cooperate!

I haven't really given up too many things totally. The only exception is Ruffles potato chips with french onion dip. I have not had them since April and I don't miss them at all. I have bought them for parties and have not even been tempted to eat them.
I used to give them up for lent every year, when I told the kids I was giving them up again this year they made me pick something else! LOL..they caught me!
So I have been buying Peeps, so I gave those up instead.

I don't drink regular soads anymore. Since I starting drinking Diet Rites, non-diet soda are so sugary & syrupy. I don't think I'll ever go back to regular sodas as long as Diet Rite keeps using Splenda!

Cereal!!!!!!!!!
I was a huge big time cereal eater!!!!!! Lucky charms, trix, frosted flakes..........you name it, if it had sugar I ate it......
I would eat it day and night and in between....and LOL now that I think about it, I would (even at age 32) I would eat my cereal and gaze into the back of the box as I ate it. Pretty childish HUH!.
How weird.........I really thought i would miss it and Honestly haven't missed it!
Great post!

Hmmm, I really had to think about this. Like others on WW, I haven't had to really "give up" anything, but there is one thing that I know I can't have because the recommended 1/4 -1/2 cup serving just won't do it! Grape-nuts cereal. Isn't that kind of weird??:p I could eat half a box in a bowl with some 2% milk (never skim). For some reason, that's comfort food for me!

I don't miss sugar. With splenda readily available, I don't feel the need to eat the real stuff. I also don't miss sugared sodas (though to be fair I never real drank regular soda).
What I do miss:
-having an occasional drink with my husband (although I'm on a medication that I can't mix with alcohol so that makes it easier).
-biscuits...my children are eating some right now and it's killing me.
-I miss a lot of what are allowable foods in moderation on South Beach. There are certain foods that I can't seem to control portion size. Popcorn and berries come to mind. Once I start eating I can't seem to stop. I've totally banned popcorn and I'll really need to limit berries. I know berries won't hurt me, but I don't want to start eating regardless of hunger again.

I miss pasta, popcorn (caramel), and Chick-Fil-A. However, I can deal with that. I'm losing so much more.

I thought I missed fast food -- though a recent trip to McDs' proved me wrong. It was a limited McD's and I ordered a grilled chicken sammich, to be told they didnt' serve them; then i ordered a salad to be told they ran out of salad. are you kidding?? so I ordered my DDs kids meal and scrammed. nothing sounded good
i miss ice cream with all the toppings, I miss Doritos, I miss lots but not enough to trade for

Don't miss the lunch fast food or Coke, but really do miss those morning breakfast sandwiches. I also really miss the piles of pasta I used to eat every other day. Now for a treat I have a serving once a week, and it is heaven!:teeth:
