Walking, meandering around -- my usual.
Pin trading with CM's.
One pin I traded to a CM was an event only LE2000, that in turn someone had traded to me. It wasn't a pin I cared about. Nor a high demand trader for any pin, let alone an LE.
As we were meandering about in a large circle, we see that same CM made a beeline for the area we wandered in, called over a pin trader, showed them the pin and it was off that lanyard. Probably in about 3 minutes tops.
Gee. Had I known they wanted that pin, I could have done that myself. :jester:

There are the thoughts running through my head, in no particular order:

Is the CM in cahoots with the pintrader? :earseek:

How did you find a CM who knew that much about pins and pintrading? :smooth:

I'm not surprised the pintrader would rather take the pin off a CM lanyard (probably gave them some junk in exchange), instead of trading with you. Isn't that behavior typical of their kind?

(Thanks to Dom for this new smiley!)

And a related, but slightly indirect thought --
Barb: Have you considered turning all these pintrading behavioral observations into something meatier....like a sociological thesis on "Behaviors of the configo-mercator floridius in their Natural Habitat." ;)

I generally do not go up to any non-CM (civilian ;) ) pin trader at WDW. I always figure -- what do I have they would want? And generally I just have CM traders with me.
I strive not to put the same ol same ol on their lanyards. And I put on LE's -- just as I take them off CM lanyards too. ;)

You know this happens. I just never witnessed this happening so fast!
:eek: ::yes::
After all I traded that pin. So it no longer was mine. But geez. That went quick -- and to someone who doesn't even have to look at lanyards.

Angie-Bear and I have a good trade system between us. We occasionally do a mass trade between us -- Europe/DLP vs U.S. pins. That way we each have *different* traders, rather than the same ones others have. The CM's here seem to really like it when I have DLP pins to trade to them. :)
And pins we decide to keep for ourselves we do. The rest we trade. :) Less pressure and we get pin variety that way. :)
