Okay, here's my question. DH and I are going to WDW in September. We will arrive on a Friday, and spend Friday night and Saturday in St. Petersburg, so we need a car. We will be a the BW Sun-Fri, so we don't need a car. Saturday we will stay in Tampa and return to WDW Sunday until Wed. We'll need a car Saturday and return it on Sunday, but won't need it the rest of the time. We'll probably take a cab or take the Mears shuttle back to the airport on Wednesday. What's better, get a car for the whole 13 days, or just for the days we need it? (Friday-Sunday, then Saturday-Sunday) If we can rent one just for the days we need it, what company do I use to be able to return it and pick it up at WDW? I know this seems convoluted, but we are trying to cram house hunting, and our vacation all into one trip. Thanks ahead of time for your great advice.

P.S. We are considering renting a Harley for the Saturday-Sunday. Does anyone know of a good place to rent (we have a Harley at home, and would love to ride in Florida)? Also, will they let you rent overnight? We'd pick it up Saturday, and return it on Sunday, taking a cab from WDW to where we'll get the bike.

You can rent & return from National at the car care center in the MK/TTC parking lot. We returned a car there once and it was quick & easy. They have buses that will take you wherever you want to go on-property after you've turned the car in.

If you rent with National you can return it in WDW. As far as it being cheaper to rent it just the weekend, I found it a bit better to just keep it the whole time. I would say price both options and see what's best. I was looking at renting for just the first 2 days and last 2 days. It was $55 for the first 2 days and $88 for the last 2 days. It was only $165 for the whole week, so I'm keeping the car all week.
