Hi Everyone
I'm looking for a couple different places to add to our May trip. I had read quite a bit of bad Sci-Fi reviews in the past, but have seen a few good ones lately so now I'm considering it. I hate being nit-picky but I'm taking someone on their first real WDW trip and I'm trying to make the best decisions. :) Any current opinions or guidance from anyone?
Just two of us, early 30's.
Thanks! :earsgirl:

We just ate there Friday and had the basic milk shakes and hamburgers and enjoyed it just fine. We really enjoy just watching the movies and remembering the 50's with the drive ins.

I enjoyed Sci-fi, DH did not. It was our first trip to WDW and he was shocked at the price of food. He has since gotten over that aspect however. I thought the burgers were good.

I really TRIED but can't seem to fit it in to my schedule - I'm very sad....to me it is more about the atmosphere than the food - as is all of Disney......it sounds like a unique and memorable experience.....so eat the burger and the fries and the milkshake and don't worry about the calories....you'll walk it off and leave with great memories of some time under the stars!!!:D
let me know what you think, if you go!

So sorry you won't be able to fit it in. All the more reason to plan the next trip!:)

We ate there in January - had a PS for 3pm, so it was our late lunch/early dinner. The prices weren't bad for Disney food - we had burgers and onion rings, and kids had shakes. DH and I had wine and a rum & coke and those were expensive!
The restaurant isn't really set up for chatting, but it is fun just munching and watching the old movie trailers!

We're eating here for my son's birthday dinner in June (his choice). Should be fun!

We ate there a couple of years ago. I still can't get over the prices. I think it was $12.95 for a burger the size of a McDonalds small hamburger. It tasted a lot better, but I still remember the price. And I have been to the World a lot, and this is the only place that pops in my mind as really overpriced. The food is good, atmosphere great.
If I went back, I would just go for dessert. I don't want to scare you off, the food tasted good. Just not a good value for your dollar.

Hi!

Sci-Fi is a must stop for our group every trip! FH and I (both 21) and my siblings (brother-15 and sister 13) all love this place because of the atmosphere! We too are planning a "First Real WDW Trip" with our friend and this will be a must do for us!

We've had many, many lunches here and the occasional dinner too! It's by no means a fancy restaurant, but it is so much fun!

Yep, I know it gets lots of negative reviews but we still keep taking our chances and trying it out, no problems yet. Though I must say, IMHO the lunch is much better done then the dinner! For lunch the menu (mostly burgers and sandwiches) really fits the mood and setting, and dinner is just a little bit off- I've had the steak for dinner and also on another trip I had the chili and a kiddie Corn Dog for dinner because I wasn't in the mood for a heavy meal :teeth:

We usually go for lunch. Last trip I tried the Reuben and it was quite good. DS(15) asked if he could get a corn dog like his brother (2) and they said "no problem." He wasn't that hungry and the kid's corn dog hit the spot. We always go because where else in the world can you eat lunch in an atmosphere like that? I think vacation is for doing things that you can't do normally and there aren't too many restaurants where you sit in 1957 Chevys under a night sky and watch drive-in movies. We love it.

I think it's the best for the experience. The food is so-so and definitely high (as all the park food is! ). We SPLIT a burger, fries, and a sundae. Also had 2 drinks, and a kids meal and it was $30+. It was my dh & dd's 1st time, so it was worth it. We are planning to try the Pizza Planet in December, I have heard pretty good reviews about it. Since MGM usually closes early, we usually eat dinner off-property that night.

Ok this place was more fun than I thought it would be. We went as a family and although the movies were boring the food was ok. Cause it good have been good no matter what just because we got to escape that Florida heat :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

We ate there once and that was enough for me. Have never had any desire to go back. Food and service were both very poor.

We went for lunch this past New Year's Eve - we both had burgers and split a Sundae for dessert. We loved the place - it was a bit pricey - but you are in Disney. The burgers were great - done just how we like them. Our server was very great also - part of the entertainment.
We'll be going back in October.

My family and I ate there 4 years ago. I thought it was "just okay", but this is the only "repeat" dinner my kids requested for our next trip! I guess it appeals more to kids.
We went there for lunch and the kids enjoyed the environment. As for the prices, well it is WDW and we are used to it.... :)

We tried SciFi last month. We had a great time and it was definately a highlight of our trip! The food was pretty good - and yes it was pricey. I had the ham and swiss sandwich. My roll was pretty dry, but the fries were awesome! We had a fantastic waiter and just loved the whole experience. On that trip it was my mom, myself and my DD3.
I took some video while we were there and my DH cannot wait to try it on our next trip.::yes::

had burgers, o rings and soup which were all fine but LONNNNG wait to be seated at 3:55 PS and longer wait for food, there about 2 hrs in all. cute atmsophere but wouldn't hurry back, more a "done that one time" thing for us.

Sci-Fi? No thanks.
It is the only restaurant I have ever walked out of in WDW. The service was non-existant.

Depends on your tastes. I hate fancy food and live for burgers, chicken and fries. Comfort food. I also love cheesy old sci fi and 50's kitsch. Sci Fi is my favorite place in WDW.
I've always had good service and the food is priced similiar to Chilis or Unos.
But its not for everyone.

I have eaten at Sci fi often and have never gotten a burger this size? Are you talking about a kids burger?
