Can someone tell me about the good and the bad at Mara at AKL?
I understood that the refillable mugs from Mara can only be used overthere. Is that convenient? Do we have to stand inline for our drinks or can we just walk away? If we allready have paid for the mugs:D

The Mara is convienent cafeteria style food. The mugs were a good deal and can be refilled without any waiting in line.

The beverage refill area is out side of the check out lines at the Mara. It is very convienent to just run in for refills. The food selections at the Mara are limited but good quality, we especially love the Chicken Pepper pot soup and the grab and go area has good prime rib sandwiches, wraps and salads, fresh fruit plus great desserts try the Paw Print brownies.

Oh wonderfull,
I really want to stay a few nights at AKL savannahview, because I love animals and I would really like to see them from my own balcony. I am waiting for some discounts now, because it is rather expensive for us. Long flight from Europe, you know.
Now I know I can save some money on food overthere to go to Mara's.:wave2:

Request a room on Zebra Trail so you'll be closer to Mara.

Mara is one of my favorite food courts (Riverside being next). I love the oatmeal, salad and soup particularly. It just seems like better quality than I've had other places.
As I think more about it, when I say it is one of my favorites, I mean the food area & the food itself. I'm not a huge fan of the seating unless you sit out by the pool area.

At what time does the Mara open and close?
I've read somewhere that it closes early, is that true?
There is so much on discussionboards to read and sometimes I don't believe it all;)

We just returned from a quick trip to AKL and the Mara is quite reasonable. Try the zebra domes with a cup of hot cocoa they are quite yummy.

Mara opened at 6am in January during our trip.
Excellent Fish and chips! The Tandori (sp?) chicken pizza was also good. We also enjoyed the breakfast wraps, Mickey Waffles, and fluffy criossants for breakfast. DH tried the African Stew in a bread bowl and said it was quite tasty!

The Mara has lots of room and very friendly CM's. The African stew was great - very tasty - I think it was open until 10pm on my trip in Jan of this year. 2nd on the Oatmeal for breakfast especially in the chilly months
thanks

I'm glad to hear that Mara is so tasty. We are trying to stick to a budget this year and are only eating one "nice" sit-down meal a day - except for two days . . . okay, maybe three. I am soooo bad a budgets!:bounce: :Pinkbounc
