All this talk about future DVC resorts and the upcoming BCV makes me wonder if the BCV will be as popular as most predict. How many of you plan on buying an add-on or a good chunk of points at the BCV? I think for DH and I, it will depend on the point schedule but am hoping to buy around 60-70 points.

Are some people waiting to see what's next? Or are simply happy with their point supply and location?? I would like to hear input from other people!

:D

We hope to buy an add on at BCV. Depending where are finances are, we hope to do at least 50 points, but I am hoping for 100 points.

I would like to do a small add-on for a visit there once per year. I agree with the others and will decide according to the point schedule.
I just love that location.

If I come into some money when they begin opening up sales, I definitly would.

DH and I have discussed it, and if we can afford it, we will probably add on 50-100 points. I keep cringing at the price increases on points, but at this point, we're not at a place where we could buy more. Frankly, we'd prefer to own at BCV than VWL at this point, regardless of the finances.

We've stayed at the BC almost every year since it opened, it is hands down our favorite resort. We did the DVC tour solely because we saw the construction in Jan and knew we would join if DVC was built there. Came home and found these boards and just decided we couldn't wait to become members, especially since at that time they were saying BC was 6 months behind schedule, pushing it's opening into 2003. So we bought BWV resale at a very decent price. Our inital thought was buy BWV, and add another 150-200 at BCV. We will not be going"Home" for the first time until Dec. So I have no idea how much we will like BWV. But I think if we like it half as much as the owners on this board do, we may decide to pass on BCV if the points are higher and the cost rises dramatically. I guess it depends also on how nicely they turn out- I'm not too keen on a view of Epcot Resorts Blvd, on the other hand, with pool hopping privileges questionable, how can we resist the lure of SAB? :)

We will be waiting for what's next. Our sources tell us it will be at Bonnet Creek and similar to OKW. Much larger than BC which is only 200 units.:pinkbounc

We might do an add-on of enough points to get us a long weekend in a studio.

We are definately considering adding 75 points. We have 225 at BWV right now and would love to have an even 300!

115 days to we return home!!!

We would like a small add-on, 50-100 points but it depends on how we like Hilton Head. If we fall in love with it, which I think we will, we'll probably do an add-on there. That is, if HH does not sell out before we are ready.

No decisions here yet....it will depend highly on the cost and point schedules and if we're ready to do another add-on when BCV are selling. Honestly though, if we're going to do a larger add on (100-150 points or so) we'd probably look into resale at BWV or possibly OKW (for those occasions that we might want a GV!) rather than at BCV.

Also it might depend on the pool hopping situation...if we get a chance to try SAB and fall in love with it, and they stop allowing pool hopping there after BCV opens we might do a minimal add on to just have a day or two each year to use SAB. But we have yet to try it, so it may turn out to not be such an attraction for us...as of now though, it sounds great. (And I'm wondering if I should have even said this...don't want to give DVC any ideas on how to manipulate me into buying more points..I'm dangerous enough on my own!)

And I think that once we own over 300 points we'll have about as many points as we can use.....so that's a factor too. Right now we have 200 total. And it also depends on what's happening with DVC after BCV! Too many factors to decide now.

I do know that when we first considered DVC we had planned to buy at VWL or BCV (depending on timing) , but when we had the opportunity to join earlier we decided upon BWV. But then after thinking we wouldn't add on so soon...we added points at VWL.

I don't have any doubts that the add-on bug will attack many current members when the property actually opens.....look at what happened with VWL! Especially if they announce a pending price increase...lol.

Can someone tell me what the minimum add-on is for a resort other than your initial home resort? For some reason, I was under the (apparently wrong) impression that the minimum buy-in at a new (not your current home) resort was 150.

150 points can be a new contract with a different Use Year. The minimum add-on is 25 points and I think it can be from another resort. The minimum to have DVC finance is 50 points. This is from memory, so feel free to add any corrections!

We have 300 points at BWV with a use year of Feb. When the BCV open we are hoping to buy another 300 points. (DH's goal is to leave 150 points to each child)Can we have a different month for our use year with a new contract? Right now Feb. is OK because we go to WDW in summer. After our DS graduates next year from HS we will probably go more in the Fall.
Thanks for your help.:D

Us! We'll get 250-350 points depending on the price! How much longer do we have to wait?? Can't wait to become a DVC Member! (maybe if the right resale at BWV comes along...)

I thought I read that the minimum points for an add-on at your home resort is 25 and any other resort is 50.

We will probably add on at least 100 points at BCV and if Bonnet Creek is built we will definitly add on another 150 points (Love the golf there). We own at VWL (March 2001) and have already added on twice. (We can't stop)

Lesley
06-21-2001, 08:32 PM
Minimum add on, at your home resort or any other DVC resort is 25 points. The paperwork does state 50 points for non-home resort add ons, but they have been allowing 25 points and up. Our VWL add on is 38 points.

I'm not sure if this is just a thing for those whose home resorts are sold out (BWV and OKW) or if it extends to everyone.

msdis
06-21-2001, 08:35 PM
Don't plan on it. We own at BWV and if anything I would like some points at VWL before they are all gone, but not till the first of the year.

Dizholic-150 points will(unless they change things) be eligible for a new contract. So yes, you can get a new use year; just don't say you want an add-on, you want a new contract.

Anyone know if there will be preferred views? I guess I'm thinking there won't be so I could care less about buying there. For that reason I feel I'm better off "home" at BWV. Not that VWL is any better, it's just a different location.

No BCV add on for us. Believe it or not, we did not care for BC (gasp)!:(

Our home is OKW and we just added at VWL. We like the easy access to Epcot and MGM from Epcot resorts and when we first heard of BCV we were ready to buy right away. But after seeing how the Villas will be built out in the parking lot we're not as sure. When we go in Nov we're going to check out the location more closely. The bigger deciding factor may be our 2nd son starting college in the fall. With one already attending NEU in Boston & this one heading to RIT I'll be lucky to have enough money to spend a nite in a Best Western.

DH has no idea yet, but we're planning on 50 points at BCV to go there every 3 years (or use at HH if we really like it there). However if an AK villas is announced before then, we'd definitely hold out until they would be for sale. DH and our finances might force us to wait anyway...

We plan on going to the WL for DW's birthday in November 2002. We plan on joining DVC at that time with either 150 or 200 points. This will depend on whether DVC has annouced another resort (ie AKL, Bonnet, or something else by then). We will get 150 points at BCV and wait till 2003 and add 50 - 100 at the other.

DD will be 16 months old when we go (she should be born in the next week or two). Buying into DVC will be a great start for her many adventures at WDW.:bounce: :D :bounce:

300 points at BCV the first month they go on presale/sale. If AKL is announced before, then 150 points at each.

We own 200 pts. at BWV and just added 70 at VWL (which is my new favorite!) so we will definitely be passing on the BCV. I feel it would be redundant to buy there since we have the 200 pts. at BWV and would rather see what the future holds. Besides, there is no way I could convince DH. He was happy with our original 150 and I had to beg and plead for the 2 add-ons. *sigh*

Well, I can definitely say we will not buy at BCV's... We own at BW & OKW.. BC seems very repetitive when owning at BW.. BC has worse views, and the only benefit is the pool IMHO... If they get rid of pool hopping, then perhaps we will just grab a night at BC using our OKW points now and then...

We were recently at WDW and toured VWL. We fell in love with it so we added 60 points. I may be in the minority on this but I didn't care for BC/YC's stormalong bay pool. I found it too hectic and difficult to keep track of my 6 year old. I prefer a more relaxing atmosphere.

Right now I am planning on adding at least 100 points at BCV. That may change based on the details of the resort. I am especially interested in what the per-night points will be. If they are much higher that BW I will probably just buy a 150 point contract for BWV via re-sale.

I might also hold out based on AKV, if that is announced it may be tough to make a decision!

Reading this board also makes me hesitant.....anyone else out there seem a little addicted?

I don't understand why some are concerned about the views (or lack there of) at BCV. How much time do you plan on staring out the window?

I know a wonderful view can be a tremendous bonus, I just don't see it as a necessity.

Before staying at WL, the BC was my very favorite Disney resort. I loved the proximity to Epcot, and I really liked the relaxed atmosphere of the BC, and hanging out by the quiet pool at night, looking at all the twinkling lights from the Boardwalk reflecting on the lake. So I definitely think I'd like to add-on about 100 points, if we can afford it, when the BCV becomes available. Then we'd own at my two favorite resorts!

Island Hap, you have a point that we don't plan on sitting in our room. However, my concern is the placement of BCV in the old parking lot and almost on top of a fairly busy street, Epcot Resorts Blvd. BW is set back from the major street as well as Y&B Club and every other resort has some space from the major roads. I don't want to feel like I'm squeezed into a small space and have a lot of noise from traffic. I hope I'm wrong, and certainly Disney is a master at design. So I guess we'll have to wait and see how it all turns out!:D

Count me in for a small add on at Beach Club. I NEED enough points for my annual Wine Festival Ladies Only Long Weekend, and now that it's getting difficult to count on a 7 month reservation at BWV, I will add on at BCV. I hope they make the view pleasant, as one of my favorite parts of vacation is relaxing on my porch or balcony.

We too are going to buy. We currently have 200 points at the BWV. We are thinking 100 to maybe 150 points at Beach Club. We love the area!

We are thinking of the Beach Club, rather than a resell at BWV, just for a change in scenery!

We have enough points for a Nov. week at BWV (214). I would love, love, love to get another week at BCV. We, or should I say I, are very seriously considering it, but DH wants to see it first. We have talked about it so to my way of thinking, it's pretty much a definite thing, however, if they make the cost and points ridiculously high, I may not be able to talk him into it. He would never buy sight unseen, on the other hand, I'm ready to buy today.

All this talk of adding on is addictive! We toured the VWL in April and they were lovely. But didn't really consider adding on...

Well, I called my DVC rep this morning and added on at the VWL!

I've got to stop reading these boards!;)

I don't need any more points either, but I'm planned on adding a small # at BC - most likely 75. However, if AKL is announced, maybe 50 at BC and 50 at AKL would make more sense....and I could bank/borrow as needed.

I'm sure Bonnet Creek will be nice, but I really prefer the OKW location. Being close to the Comedy Warehouse is important for my style of vacationing. BCV is attractive for Stormalong Bay (in case pool hopping disappears), and for food & wine festival time.

Dang - if they keep adding new resorts I'll be up to 2000 points before I'm done, lol! I wish I was closer to retirement so I could use them all more easily, but don't want to wish my life away ;-)

I have read a couple posts saying pool hopping may not be allowed once BCV is built. Has Disney actually said it might take this privilege away, or is it just speculation?

I am a DVC member, and one of the perks we enjoy as members is pool hopping. I certainly hope this is not take away.

We are waiting to buy in at BCV. WLV are very nice, but I like the Boardwalk location of BCV much better. And one day we will have kids, and if they pull the pool-hopping privileges, it would be a plus for our future kids to have Stormalong Bay available (I think WAY ahead...). Heck, it's a plus for us too!

We are saving money like crazy now, so we have the cash ready next year - can't wait!

We just closed on 200 pts @ VWL on 06/25 & had asked about BCV in May. YC is our favorite resort & my kids adore Stormalong. So, I think an add-on @ BCV will probably happen for us, somewhere between 50-100 pts.
