Wondering what, if anything, Southwest Airlines offers if they need to bump someone from a flight. Does this happen often. Taking a late afternoon flight.

That information is on the SWA site under terms of carraige.

To COC will tell you what you are entitled to if you are INVOLUTARILY bumped. However offers vary when they are just looking for volunteers. Most times compensation is based on how long you will have to wait for the next flight.

Once when flying Dallas to New Orleans I volunteered to take a flight approximately 3 hours later because they were offering a travel voucher of $150 + the cost of my original ticket. My ticket was $250 so for 3 hours additional time at the airport bar I made $400 in travel money. Not a bad return on the investment. :D

They were soliciting bumps for two flights near me on Friday. In both cases it was $200 plus the cost of your ticket in SW dollars.

However, the delays were ALL day.
