Last night, I leafed through the current Disney Adventures Magazine. In it, there is a feature on summer movies. There is a page dedicated to Shrek. There is a picture of the ogre along with some trivia questions. This, in a Disney magazine! This struck me as odd.
There is absolutly nothing odd about it.
Radio Disney has been running Shrek comercials both for the movie and for 31 flavors. its called advertising money. Disney is actually making money off of Shrek.
This brings up a good topic I've been wanting to broach. Does anybody else think that Disney radio has a major effect on the entertainment market. I mean, they promoted the heck out of Spy kids, Atlantis. They play N'sync and Back Street and Brittany and all the other groups that appeal to the younger set. Would O'town have any fans if they weren't played every 5 minutes on radio Disney?
I'm just curious, because they haven't stepped back their Atlantis campaign and I'm wondering if it will have a positive effect on the bottom line.

When we went to see Shrek there was an Atlantis preview before it.

It's not an ad, though. Could be like what we call in the Newspaper business - advertorial. But, you'd never see a writeup on IOA in Disney magazine. If it's paid space that's one thing, but it doesn't appear to be.
