View Full Version : Question about Magical Gatherings

I tried to search for this, but didn't have a lot of luck. Has anyone planned a Magical Gathering? How well did it work? My FIL will be celebrating his 80th birthday this summer and lives in Orlando. We are all planning on surprising him with a visit, and thought we would spend part of it as a family at Disney. There would be 4 individual families. The first family has 2 adults and 2 teens, the second, 2 adults and 2 preteens (11 and 13), the third (mine) 2 adults and an 8year old and a 3 year old and the fourth family would be 2 older adults- mid 70's-80. My FIL and his girlfriend have yearly passes to Disney, and go down there weekly, so their health is not a real issue as far as seeing the parks. What recommendations would you have? We visited about 4 years ago, when my son was younger, but it will be my daughters first visit.

We did a big family trip in December....7 smaller families totalling 20 people....15 adults, 5 kids.

As a group of 8 or more, you can be designated a "Grand Gathering" and be able to book some rather special events reserved for large groups. We did one, and have read reviews of 2 others...all are rating fabulous!

All in all, we had a great time...so much so that I've been put in charge of planning another family trip this summer, although it's to the beach instead of Disney (oh well...DH and I are taking the kids again in May!)

Magical Gathering is anyone...

"Grand Gathering" which lets you buy special events is 8 or more people staying at select Disney resorts.
