Steve, Welcome~! You will just love Disney Cruise Line.
I have a 3rd grader, Gretchen, she turned 8 on July 24th. She has been dying for me to find someone for her on the ship. Does your little girl do Instant Messaging or what e-mail address can Gretchen send her a note too?
Gretchen likes dance (she dances 5 hours a week with a company), cheerleading and gymnastics. She likes to sing and dress up! She is all little girl.
I still have a 5th grader (11 DD).......anybody with any other girls?

Hi Lisa,
We'll be sailing with you. I have an 11 year old daughter, 7 yr old boy and a 5 yr old boy. The 11 yr old is very anxious to go to the lab and meet kids her own age. She gets tired of hanging with her younger brothers. Sounds like lots of kids to play with. I can't wait.

i miss my old TA....
called the TA yesterday. she said she called Disney yesterday and they said we should have the DOCS within the next week. :cheer2:
if we rebook onboard..the $200 credit...is that a set amount or does it depend on how much your total cruise is? can we use that on excursions or is it limited to alcohol, ship shops?
MamaCrush
01-07-2005, 08:45 AM
njdrumrun-- Yep, there's a Pirate theme night (used to be tropical night). From what I understand, Disney hands out pirate bandanas at dinner and folks do come dressed in pirate gear. I guess the ones who do get "special attention"-- whatever that means. I would guess the Shutters folks will be around you more than usual, etc. Anyway, we thought it would be fund for DS and DD, then as you can see from my other thread, the whole thing snowballed on me! Come on, join us and dress up!!
disneylover5
01-07-2005, 09:04 AM
$200 Credit is per room.....having nothing to do with how much the cruise costs. You can spend it on anything you can charge to your room...tips, excursions....drinks....anything.
Then if you transfer your reservation to DU (or another TA who offers the similar deal) then you also get a "rebate" based on how much your cruise costs, per stateroom booked.

Okay, so I thought that "Pirate Night" was actually a "Costume Night." Sorry, us guys aren't up on all the small points.
So I asked my wife, "Do I have to go dressed up as a pirate, or can I go as something else." She, of course, responded, "I guess you could go as a parrot!"
Well, the challenge is out. If you see some guy walking around with colorful feathers and a beak, squawking like an idiot - you'll know it's me.

njdrumrun,
DU is Dreams Unlimited Travel Inc. They sponsor this board and they are a Travel Agency. They can book the cruise for you or you can book on board and then transfer to them. When I transfered my 3 rooms to them this year the price I got onboard went down another $500. It was great! We also have $600 worth of credit waiting on the ship!
We have great weather here in DC, :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Not sure what we did to deserve this???? Not week on Thursday the weather is supposed to be 75 to 80 degrees here? Today is sunny and 55........loving life here!

We will be joining you on the Jan. 29th Magic sailing!
Our little group consists of myself (mid-40's), my Mom and my three year old niece, Hannah. My mom and I have cruised several times before, but never with a toddler. It promises to be a new experience for us!
We are flying in from Michigan late on Friday and will spend the night at the Hyatt. We have DCL transfers for the trip to the port the next morning. We will be spending one night at the Swan post-cruise to get a little Magic Kingdom time in for Hannah. We have a Cat 6 room on Deck Six with early dinner seating.
Our plans currently include the Beach Excursion at Cozumel and maybe the Conch train and/or Aquarium at Key West. Thought we might skip the excursions on Grand Cayman and just doing a little shopping.
Hannah is really excited about the trip and talks all the time about going on the "Mickey Boat." Sounds like she will have a lot of friends at the "club."
I received our cruise docs earlier this week and we are already 90 percent packed. See you all in three weeks!

Julylady,
Yeah!! Someone else with a mom! My mom (81 yo) is supposed to go....never know with her till the very last moment. My Father in law is coming to....we just lost my MIL a few months ago.
Will you mom hang out at the pool? We should get them together...to bad there is not a club for grandparents!
I want to go now......but I have not packed at all. Well, I did by a set of 3 goggles at Costco yesterday. If anybody is looking for a great deal on goggles or snorkle set (both adult size and children's size) Costco is the place to go.
DC is still supposed to remain warm....which is good for everybody...that means FL and below is really warm which means the ocean temps will be wonderful for all of us. DC is getting into inaugation (sp?) mode. We are now being told the subway will be shutting down and NO cars in DC that whole day. My nephew is going to one of the balls (he is a student at Georgetown) and is thrilled. I hope it stays warm through then!

Welcome Judylady, we will also be staying at MCO Hyatt Friday night, DH, myself and DD 4 1/2 and she loves playing with smaller kids too! we get in about 7 pm from CA.
Still no DOCS for us either :sad2:

Oh my!!!!!!! I havent done a thing yet....no docs....no packing!! I guess I better get with it huh?
Are we all going to meet one day on the ship??? Would be nice to see who we all have been chatting with.
My TA who is in Florida said she called Disney and they said we would get our docs 14 days before the cruise......HMPGH :smooth:
On Pirate night, I heard some people still wear there tropical attire but if we dont want to wear pirate or tropical....it is ok right? Then it would be just regular dining room clothes!
I am traveling with my ds17 and his 17 year old gf. Anyone with older children? My mom asked me why I go Disney if I am a 38 year old single parent....why not Carnival or Royal Caribbean....but I think you all know the answer to that one. :flower:
Well....time is quickly coming and I am unprepared....off to Walmart with my list of things to bring!!!
Bye for now :) Tracy
P.S. Dont laugh me off the board but what the heck is a "Konk Kooler"??? Is it a wine cooler???

Hi Disneylover5 (Lisa)!
My Mom has been on six cruises (3 DCL). She likes to sit by the pool for short stretches. We are both early risers so one of our favorite activities is the hot tub watching the sun rise. I, myself, can sit at the pool the entire day if its nice and warm!
Mommy2mrb (Lisa)!
I hope we run into you at the Hyatt. Hannah loves new friends and can talk your ear off. She got a Cinderella dress for Christmas (including the "glass" slippers) and loves trying it on and dancing around the house. I have a feeling she will want to wear it to dinner every night including Pirate night!
We made our own reservations at the Hyatt using a senior discount code. We also booked DLC transfers through DU Travel. Do we let the hotel know when we check in that we are boarding the bus the next morning? Anyone have any experience with transfers after booking their own room rather than part of a package?
It's curious that some of us have had our documents for a week while others are still waiting. Any ideas why?

How are all of you getting to and from MCO and port. We were originally going to do the rental car thing, but are considering Happy Limo now, at least for the return trip from port to MCO. We have a 11:45am flight and think this will be the quickest way. Last year we rented from Budget for both ways and it worked great, but we had a 6:50pm return flight. I know we waited for about 30 minutes for a shuttle to budget even for just one. Just wondering what you others are doing. Craig :moped: :moped:

Welcome Julylady! Aeris (DD who turns 3yrs 1/21/05) will love to meet Hannah!
Mommy2mrb-- Brosnan (DS 41/2) will love to meet Megan!
We're renting a car from Charlotte, NC on Friday and driving down to PC and staying at the Hampton Inn at Cocoa Beach. We're going to drive straight back to NC once we get off the ship-- couldn't talk DH into a night at WDW!
I've begun my "things to be packed" piles and will soon get out the suitcases. DH is finally starting to get into cruise mode because now he's starting to worry he won't have the right clothes for the restaurants!! Cracks me up. Like many other spouses/so's, he's left all the compulisive planning to me and I will function as the walking encyclopedia once we get their. :flower1:
Can't wait to meet everyone! Also, can't wait to see all our kids playing and having fun.

Hi,
I just found this site and am glad to see that there are so many people out there that are as excited about this as I am. I am from Canada and travelling with a 10 family members. I have a DD 4 and a DS 2.
Can any one explain how the rotation dinning works. Do you get to pick where you eat the first night? Just trying to see if the whole family will be able to eat together even though we are in different rooms.
As my DD would say I am getting excited TOO MUCH.
Thanks

We'll be sailing with DS4 and DD3! Maybe they can hook up with your little ones int he club! Also, you will find there are a bunch of little mouseketeers from this board.
This is my first cruise, but as I understand it from these boards, you are assigned a dining rotation upon boarding and it's noted on your Key to the World Card. You will be able to tell if you are first/main seating at 6:30 or the second, later seating (sorry, can't remember when this one starts). Typically, parties with smaller children are assigned APL (Animators Palate the first night, Parrot Cay the second, Lumiere's the third and then it starts all over again).
If all of the staterooms in your party are linked with DCL, I would imagine you will be assigned the same seating time and rotation. You could probably call DCL now and find this out. If when you get onboard you're not happy with what you've been assigned, you can request changes.
Hope this helps...

Thank you Mamacrush!
It did help, called yesterday and made sure, and everybody is eating together so I am very happy.
What time is it best to get to the Port? We will have a 5 adults a 2, 3, 4 and 7 year old plus 2 seniors in our group and we are from Canada ( more stuff at customs I think). When is the biggest line ups?
Trying to get ready for the trip but we have our DD and DS birthday next week and a small party to plan. Looking forward to a place with no phones, no driving, no winter coats and boots.
Hello to all and have a magical day!

We are also on this cruise. Just got our doc on thursday on deck 6.
This is our 1st western carribean cruise. Any suggestions from others hear as to what to do? We have 1 excursion planned for GC doing stingray city.
Everything else is wide open so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also celebrating a 50th birthday the 1st night out so hopefully the seas won't be too rough.
Thanks for any advice

Thanks, Maria, for setting up the meeting. We'll be there.
By the way, we're celebrating two birthdays on board - is there anything that is done by the ship or that I can do to make the day special (outside the usual "extra" spa treatments that I'm sure my wife will demand!)?

Michael,
Welcome to the group! Happy 50th! We were at one of our best friends 50th party last night! You are hoping for calm seas and of course there are no guarantees...but the seas are pretty calm in Jan...as opposed to Summer and Fall (hurricane season!) I hope you get your wish!

Freebird - let your head server know the first night about the birthdays. They will bring out a cake & sing Happy Birthday to them. Last year DD turned 2 & they brought her a cake, she wouldn't share it with anyone. DD5 - Makenna & DD almost 3 - Alaina says Hi to Rachel & Maddie.

as far as the weather checks go...like to do the warm weather dance ...so i have to watch.
i hate the week or so before we go away. along with the .."what will the weather do? will we get delayed or stuck at the airport".....i have animals to shuffle around to different places before we go. getting a horse trailer out in the snow can be pretty nerve racking! cant wait until the 28th when we are on our way to the airport and all that is done!!

Well, balmy Charlotte, NC is in a cold snap! 12 degrees this AM-- that's really tough for down here. Now, I grew up outside Detroit and spent 14+ years in Connecticut, so I am no stranger to cold weather. But I've been spoiled the last 7 years in Charlotte! But that's okay--- I'll just enjoy the tropical breezes that much more!

Reporting from Washington DC (yes we had 70 degrees last week)...it is -3 degrees at Dulles airport.
I hope we do not get a foot of snow here......they are saying an 1" tomorrow...but DC starts shutting all of the streets down today for Thursday and tomorrow most all of the streets will be closed through 11pm Thursday.
This is how "whimpy" we are here in the Nation's Capital....school was two hours late because of the cold! They were afraid the school buses would not start after the three day weekend. My DS15 was thrilled as he usually leaves for school at 6am.

Finnally received our DOCS yesterday. Some how it feel so much more final. DD turns 4 on this Saturday and our DS turn 2 on Monday they are getting very excited about going on the Mickey boat.
Has any one done the Dolphin Discovery??? Is it good to take our DD on that excursion.
Looks so awesome that they are so many kids around 4-6. Were on deck 8 under the mickey pool. Any one have a DD who is around 7 or 8 who might like to write to my Neice 7 3/4. She will be on the cruise with us and would be more comfortable if she met some one before.

larillion,
Gretchen (DD8) and Rachel (She is a friend we made on the Disboards) have been writing each other. So, I am sure they would love to have your neice join in. I will send you a PM.
I have never done Dolphin on Disney, but I have on other cruise lines and I loved it! I have scheduled to take my girls (DD11 and DD8) I think at 12:30...but not positive about that. This excursion usually sells out, you get in a small tank, your girls are young so you would have to get in with them, and the dolphins swim around and play with you...it really is a neat experience.

Speaking of which... anyone know if you can use Gotomypc via the ships computers? Not that I really want to work while on board (gasp) but I may have to....

YESNID .. We have a DD4 and a DS2. As well as my Brother and his family DS3 and DD7. Welcome a board... It l took me 3 weeks of looking at the board before I made my first post. I have found out so much info from the boards, it is unreal.
2 day till we leave for Flordia... kids are packed I am mostly but DH hasn't touched it at all. This is normal though...he'll be packing at midnight the night before we leave at 6:00am.
Kids got new suitcases for there birthday plus my DD got a Tinker bell costume and a Cinderella crown. Do the kids need to bring costumes...or should I say will the kids use costumes on the boat?
DD is never in clothes anymore just princess costumes and my DS has a owl costume I can bring for fun. Don't know if I should bother bringing them??
Thinking about sunny weather... Ahhhhhhh!

For the dismeet:
Denise (me)
DH Billy
DS4 Brosnan
DD3 Aeris (who will hopefully be in the kids club with her brother and won't be attending!)
Well, if I make it through Thursday, it will be a miracle! We will leave early Fri. AM for FL. Haven't even pulled out the suitcases yet, but I do have assorted piles laying around the house. Things are incredibly busy here at work and I will be working extra hours-- great-- just what I need! I'd much rather be cruise planning!
Jennifer-- definitely bring the costumes. We did try on our pirate costumes yesterday. What a hoot! The kids are adorable. I was really reluctant to do this adult costume thing, but seeing how excited the two of them were that DH and I were also dressing up, it's worth it. Also-- Aeris has a Snow White costume she will be wearing on formal night.
Lisa-- About the pins. I don't know if we'll be trading or not, but I do plan on buying pins and a lanyard on board to start the kids' collection. Definitely something we will want to do going forward, but we don't currently have a stash to trade.
It was 10 degrees in southern NC this AM. But at least we don't have snow or the "wintry mix" as they call it down here. :cool1: I know many of you have it far worse than us... pixie dust to you until Sat.!

01-24-2005, 03:10 PM
Mr. 3000 is a comedy starring Bernie Mac as a ballplayer who retired with 3000 hits. A recheck of the records showed he actually was 2 or 3 hits short. He starts training to return to reach his goal.
Life Aquatic is a movie starring Bill Murray. Got good reviews.

I will bring our pins to the DISMEET .... I have many that I can give the little ones who want to get started. We have not counted in a long time....but I think we have about 500 pins....yes we got addicted for a while. I still buy pins, but made myself promise until we got all organized...no more.
I did buy the 2005 inaugeration (sp?) pin on ebay, I think only 500 made.
We were going to open and ebay store to pay for Daniel's college........maybe still...some of the pins we have bring $50 to $100 on ebay. It is really fun.
It is snowing in DC again this afternoon, but they say little or no accumulation.
I really want some warm weather,

it's okay toopure...only a dusting. jackson has a two hour delay this morning so a.m. kindergarten is closed. looks like my kid is only going to school 2 days this week(all off on friday anyway).
for those of you in really snowy climates..does school shut down everytime it snows?? or is that only here on the central east coast that it happens? can't see that it does as your kids would be going to school to make up into july.
anyone else starting to panic?? got too much to do and so little time. the big storm last weekend messed me up. shoveling out took the place of finishing shopping. :smooth:

Those of you with 3-5 yr olds--- when do you plan to take them to the kids club for the first time? We plan to register our 2 at the terminal, and I understand that the earlier they get in the better so they can make friends and "bond". However, that first night we should be in Animator's Pallette (early seating), so I don't want them to miss that. And after the big day, I doubt they'll be awake much past dinner! So, what are your thoughts on this?? I don't want them to miss out making friends and getting comfortable in the club early, but I certainly don't want them to miss AP. (Although our small kids dis meet under the Mickey Slide may take care of the making friends concern!).

On our cruise last January, Makenna went to the club right after early dinner. She did not stay too long, before we got a page to come and get her. She said there were way too many kids and did not want to stay. This year she is already planning on not going to the club the first night, because of the experience last year. She was 4 last year. She is looking forward to the club, just not the first night. I think we will check it out after dinner and if it's not too crowded she may end up going anyway. Just have to wait and see. Maybe if she knows some others her age ahead of time she will go no matter how crowded. We will just play it by ear. We plan on getting the kids registered in the terminal while we wait to board. Our plan is to get to the terminal about 10:30am. What time are others of you planning on getting there? :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I agree that since we are doing a Kid Meet at the pool Sat they should be more comfortable with each other. Was a time ever set up for Sat's meet, or just when ever everyone gets a chance to meet up?

To be completely honest....when I cruised last January, I had major Disney withdrawl but I realized after this past January trip that it had alot to do with the big blowout I had with my brother and sister. I am doing great this time, and had a wonderful time. I did however, rebook for September 16, 2006, so I am wondering if that is one reason why I am not so depressed lol.
I enjoyed meeting the few I did while on board. It was an awesome cruise and I cant wait to go back. My counter is over 550 days so I think I might just change the date to next February so it wont be quite so long......hehehe.
Hope you all are settled back in your homes and lives and are doing ok.
Take care...:)

Hi everyone!! We were very sad to get off the Mickey boat, too. We did rebook again and that helps. We are booked on the 3/04/2006 eastern. We did the Eastern last year and loved it. Anyone else?
When we got off the ship we went to Royal Pacific at Universal for 3 days. It was great. I highly recommend this property for those who want to go see Universal. You cant beat front of the line priviledges.
Mommy to mrb, we are still going to DL 3/22-3/26 and we are very excited!!!
It was so nice to meet all of you and I hope to see some of you on the next cruise. ::MickeyMo --Maria
