I would have thought this would be a no brainer, but have seen another post that said it took forever, and you're better off using the "regular" lot ...
any advice appreciated (we would plan on getting to the park around 8:00 a.m. on a Sat in early March.)

Based on personal experience, Preferred Parking was not worth the extra money...and we only paid a few dollars b/c regular parking is free for APH. If you get there early (and it sounds like you will be) get regular parking.

It's worth it sometimes, kinda the luck of the draw. Get an Annual Pass & you get 1/2 price valet (next to Cineplex in Citywalk), $7-8 plus tip.
Your feet may very well thank you later.
Is it me or does it seem the earlier you get there, the worse the regular parking spot??
Stay on-site and avoid all the driving, period!

The best parking spot we ever got was when we got there before the parking garage even opened (parking garage opens 1 hour before theme park opening). We got front of the parking row, right next to an elevator that led us right to the level we needed to continue our journey toward the parks. That was the day where we were in front of EVERYONE in the parking garage...Barry was second...lol :p
Preferred Parking is different from Valet Parking, remember that. Valet Parking does offer parking closer to the parks and CityWalk. Preffered seems like it probably Level 3 (level you need to be on to continue on to the parks, but you still have risk of getting last in the row, and have a long walk nonetheless).
