View Full Version : Any DVC members in the Charlotte, NC area

01-29-2004, 11:33 AM

Was wondering how many members from the Charlotte area? We live around the Denver area of Lake Norman.

Any with small children like ourselves? DS is 5 and DD is 3.

We are going June 28th to July 5th to SSR. When and where are all of you going?

Love to hear from and meet members from the area.

Thanks for responding. Go Panthers!

Hi! We live in Charlotte. Children are much older, but we do have a 5 year old grandson who joins us at least once a year. We are doing WDW from 5/2 to 5/9 with the DGS & DD. Off to HH in July -- just the 2 of us (7/11 - 7/16) and a DCL cruise in October. Hope to go to SSR next spring. Our home resorts are OKW, VB & HH, but we stay at all DVC resorts depending on the mood we are in, and are always anxious to try out the new resorts when they open. We make at least one trip to HH every year -- love it there. It's so relaxing and it's a short drive from Charlotte compared to WDW.

Forgot to say "GO PANTHERS"!!! We have lived in Charlotte for 17 years, and the Panthers thing is definitely the most (or only?) exciting thing that has happened here. We are originally from Chicago.

Hello RobMary!!! We're from Charlotte!!!!
We live about two miles from Carowinds (too bad it's not DISNEY!). We have a DD age 11. We "familymooned" in Disney and go to Disney OFTEN. On our last trip in October, we bought into SSR.
We are planning several trips this year, starting in April, then June, Oct and December- staying at various DVC/Disney resorts.
Hope our paths cross both here and in Disney....look for us, we have the NC plates ... "DVC SSR", on a Sienna van.
It's actually ironic, we are originally from RI/Mass, relocated here about 8 years ago, so hubby is cheering for the Patriots... I figure I can't loose either way, but I guess I'm go Panthers ( woman I work with is the mother of a TopCat!)

Hope we find other members. I think there is someone on the board from Huntersville, too!!
Maybe we can do a local Disney meet????

Hi guys-
Leslie from Huntersville is here. (I know there is at least one other Huntersville resident on the boards too). We are leaving Saturday for 5 nights at BWV. This time, its me, my mom (lives in Denver, NC!!), and my 2 year old DD. DH is staying home to watch the SuperBowl with our 10 month old DD. Next trip is at Thanksgiving . . . me, DH, and our two girls.

Go Panthers!!!!!

We are from that area! No kids. I'm community college & my mom. Look @ countdowns to see where/when we are going!!

Hello all,

We're from Cornelius (just north of Charlotte). We have 4 kids, ages 3 to 15 and are taking a few months off since our Annual Passes expired. We'll probably be getting new passes in October and then hit it hard for the next 12 months. We currently have reservations for BWV - Oct, OKW - Nov., OWK GV in Dec.

Go Bears...I mean Panthers...

Not quite Charlotte, but only a little more than an hour away in Lexington. My sister lives in Lake Norman, and it takes us about 75 minutes to get to her house. Anyway, we have 4 kids(girls 15,13, and youngest turned 10 Tuesday, and 1 son, 11), and usually go to WDW 3-4 times a year. We started off with 150 lowly points at BWV in 1999, thinking 1 week-long trip or 2 shorter trips per year would be enough, but we were wrong! I've added-on 3 times, and am still trying to figure out a way to buy more points. We have only 2 trips planned for 2004: late May/early June to celebrate second daughter's 14th birthday(taking 3 extra teenage girls, in addition to 3 other families). After booking the 5 rooms for that trip, I was pointless, so the AP's were probably not a good investment for 2004. Surprised both my sisters with a trip to WDW this past Christmas(the gift was 4 nights at BW in Dec.2004 and a 4-day hopper each). With their kids and hubbies, we will be a party of 13-14(my DH can't go), but in 3 separate rooms. I was able to book those rooms this week, but again, I am pointless for a while. Gee, I NEED more points!

We live in Burlington about 1hr 15 mins from Lowes Motor Speedway. We own at WLV. DD is 11, DS is 9 and we love our trips to the World. DIS meet would be great. Lots of fun talking Disney and DVC. My sales agent with DVC is living in Charlotte area now. She was an original with DVC before DH had job relocation.

Hello from Mooresville, NC. DH, DD9 and I just bought into SSR last Oct and are looking forward to using our points this year. We are taking extended family and friends to HH in June and plan on being at one of MVMCP's this Dec.
Have my WDW "been there done that" license plate frame and Minnie antenna ball on my van. Cant wait to buy some great DVC "stuff" on our next trip!

DH loves the Steelers and I'm not a big fan......BUT you gotta love the hometown team, sooooo GO PANTHERS!

From the coast, but...

Condolences to your son. We played a good game, but lost to a more experienced team. There's always next year! And if the Panthers win in Jacksonville, they'll have a short flight to WDW!

To add to NC's misery, Puxatawney Phil saw his shadow this cold Groundhog day, so we have 6 more weeks of winter...Mickey, take me away!

02-02-2004, 03:19 PM
Mocksville, NC

My DH and DS are going to BWV March 6. Can't wait!! Getting our sons hair cut for the first time in Magic Kingdom. He is 16 months old now. We are pushing it because he could use a cut now. Waiting to see Mickey and do it there for the first time.

02-08-2004, 08:33 PM
Greenboro here! Wishing we were back in Orlando.

02-09-2004, 09:46 AM
Not from Charlotte, but we stop in Mooresville for lunch on our drive down to WDW and usually spend the night there on our return trip.

Robmary - We'll be staying at BCV from 6/27 until 7/6 (and driving right past Charlotte). We hope to make it over to SSR for a visit on this trip to check the place out. Perhaps we'll see you there. :)

We're in Lexington, NC about an hour and 15 minutes away on I-85. Thanks for the Thread, it helped me find some members close to me!

Hi! Another Huntersville resident and Charlotte native here. Heading to Vero Beach this summer!

02-10-2004, 03:18 PM
We've been in Charlotte for the past 8 years. Was a Navy Brat as a child and parents retired to Myrtle Beach. We lived outside Houston for 8 years, 11 years in Salt Lake City, 2 years in St. Louis, 2 years in Hartford, Ct. and 1 year outside Chicago. This was after Navy brat years - Yikes - no more moving!!!!! Must admit I've loved every place we've been.

WDW has been the constant. I guess with all the moving - WDW is really home.

We spent Super Bowl at WL watching the game and the "Magic" fireworks from our balcony. Sad for the Panthers - we are huge fans - If we had to lose, losing to the PATS made the loss easier to take. I think both teams are "class acts".

Planning another trip in October.
Love the Disboards.

any more Piedmont/Foothills DVCers out there?

04-30-2005, 08:25 PM
(and Duke rules the basketball court!)

Not this year - UNC '88

Very surprised you would put "Tarheel" in your user name.

Oh, BTW, Greensboro here.

An honorary citizen of the "Queen City". Graduated from UNCC, lived in Charlotte for about 15 years before moving to Cary, where we've lived for the past 12 years. We have Panther PSL's (season tickets, for those not familiar with the team), so we make 5 - 6 trips Sunday visits a year.

04-30-2005, 10:20 PM
Checking in from Asheboro. We own at HH and BCV. We've used up our disney trips, although I am considering trying the 1/2 marathon next January.

05-01-2005, 07:42 AM
We are also from Cary. But my father-in-law sis and bro-in-law and 3 little nieces live there in Charlotte, so we go there once in a while.

05-01-2005, 07:48 PM
We live in Ft Mill, SC so we're across the border. We own at VWL & HHI. We have a DD 10. We'll be in WDW 6/12-6/21 and also 11/11-11/14.

05-01-2005, 08:29 PM
Hickory here. Lived in Davidson in the 90s. My family is staying at OKW GV (Yesss!) in Sept. I check out the message boards here when I need a Disney fix. Not the same as being there, but it will do in a pinch. The downside is that after reading some recent posts, I think I need to add-on.

Go Heels!

Hi guys! We are from Salisbury. Just bought at BWV about three months ago. But, we made a trip to HH over spring break and fell in love. So, now it looks like we will be searching for a small HHI contract as well.
Supposed to be going to BWV in Oct. with a boardwalk view, but may have to wait until next year. I do have to find a way to get back to HH soon.

We just went to WDW in Dec. and stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Sure wish we would have bought into the Vacation Club a long time ago! Oh, and we have two children ; almost 11 (next week) and 9.

05-05-2005, 04:35 PM
I live in Northern Virginia (Manassas) now, but home is good old Forest City, NC (Rutherford County)!!!! Approx. 50 miles from Charlotte...

05-16-2005, 11:01 PM
We recently relocated from Raleigh to Charlotte...hi everyone! Not DVC members yet, but it's a possibility in the next few months. Next trip: 12/05

05-17-2005, 12:20 PM
Does it count if my whole family lives in Mooresville on the lake? We sort of live there!! :cheer2:

05-17-2005, 01:56 PM
We live in Burlington - not too far away. We will be at BWV 9/24-10/1.

05-28-2005, 10:24 PM
We're in Rock Hill, SC and are planning to buy DVC after I graduate from nursing school. :) Not bad, considering we've never been there yet LOL I already know I want to do it :cool1: BTW we have three kids, 11.5 yo DD, 6.5 yo DS, and 2.5 yo DS.

05-28-2005, 11:26 PM
Sister and her crew are DVC OKW since '93 (two teenaged dds). They live in Spartanburg, SC.

As for us, we don't live in NC...we live in WV (but we have to go THROUGH Charlotte every time we head for my family or Disney! Does that count?) Plus, I did grow up about an hour south of Charlotte, in S.C.... lived there for 22 years! As for kids -- we have 3 of the little critters (ds age 10, ds soon to be 9, and dd age 5). Ressies at HHI for this summer, then next year will be another WDW trip -- just haven't figured out WHEN!

05-29-2005, 12:51 AM
