Hello everybody! just wanted to introduce myself to ya'll and let you know a little about me. I am a 39yr old male who has been fiarly athelic all my life. I don't consider myself terribly overweight: I'm starting this venture at 184lbs on a 5'8 frame....the thirties has done it to me slow, but sure....I've probably averaged putting on 2-3lbs a year over the past 10 years, so, I didn't notice it much day to day, but, now, I look and i'm 25-30lbs over what I should be! I noticed it while looking at old vacation photos with my dd last week and then started to read this board a couple of days later....went out a purchased the Atkins revolution book and read it last week and discovered how my diet has affected my life in so many adverse ways over the years. I have made the decision to take control and live a more healthy lifestyle and Atkins makes sense to me.....I started on sunday morning and I am finishing up on my third day cheat free! I haven't been hungry at all or experienced that "cruddy" feeling I've heard some describe on the boards....I was amazed when I weighed in this morning....already down to 179lbs(5 lbs already)....I hope this is normal? I know that I can rely on my friends on the DIS to help me stay on course and answer any questions that I may have....thanks in advance....

Congratulations Kev,

I just started last Thursday and really felt crappy, I still don't feel normal yet! I haven't come across that burst of energy that people talk about, but I am down 5 pounds. I have about 20 to lose.

I am really enjoying cooking. Tonight I made scallops in a cream sauce - LOVED IT!

I can't wait until I can eat something else besides eggs and/or cheese for breakfast.

I come to this board and read some of the motivation posts when I get a little "weak" and then all is fine with the world! This is such a great place to be!

Congratulations Kevin. My dh and I started Sunday too. I felt tired on Sunday and downright awful yesterday, but I feel much better today. Losing 5 pounds that fast is amazing, I haven't lost any yet.

I am getting tired of eggs for breakfast already, but we keep chugging along with it.

Congratulations Kev...

I started on MLK day and today is day 10 (i think). I haven't seen any downward movement of my scale (it isn't that great anyways) but I have seen my stomach go down!! I feel good and did experience some tiredness at the beginning but now the only thing I need to do is exercise!!!!

Good luck.....................

5 days now cheat free....making it past bowling night on tuesday without drinking any beer was a little tough, but i made it...haven't really had any cravings for anything yet.....kinda sick of meat all the time; I might switch to two salads a day instead of one as long as I keep the total carbs down to less than 20(I have been averaging only about 10 per day so far). I feel great! was a little on the tired side yesterday, but, back to normal today....started walking 1 mile per day and will start at the YMCA on monday lifting weights a little.....thursday afternoon weigh in: 176lbs---down 8 from start....

Congratulations, Kevin, on your success at bowling! It is a huge accomplishment to me to go out and avoid anything I shouldn't be eating, so I know how hard that is!!
