View Full Version : It's never too early....WHO'S GOING DURING 12/04???

OK, so my bf thinks I am crazy for already getting excited about our December trip (especially since I just came back from a 12/13-12/20 trip). And I just got clearance from my boss to take vacation at that time, so I'm feeling mighty good!
But who else is with me??? Anyone anxiously awaiting the sale of MVMCP tickets?
When are you going? Where are you staying? And what holiday activities are you planning on taking in?
Let's keep each other abreast and keep this thread going as developments are made from Disney. And maybe we can all get some pointers. We only have 11 months to plan people! :chat:
Here is the deal for myself, my bf, and his parents:
December 5-11, 2004
Two rooms at Poly or WL, depending on AP discounts (first plunge from into a delux from moderates!)
MVMCP December 5, Candelight Processional package (probably Le Cellier) December 10.
I'm sooo happy the Osborne lights will be back too. Missed them this year :(
UPDATE: Even more reason to get excited ... I am now getting MARRIED in WDW Dec. 6 ... woo hooo!

I'm planning for Dec 2004!! YEAH!!!! Our family (me, DH, DD-11 & DS-7) will be going along with my SIL, BIL, & 2 neices. We are planning on staying at Port Orleans Riverside from Dec 11-19th. I wish I knew when MVMCP was going to be scheduled so that I could start some more planning! I too am anxious to see the Osbourne Lights!
Planning our December trip too! We are driving our 29 hours with our new Ford F-350 crew cab, and our new 2003 TT. We will be staying at FW campground Dec 5-16. We are pretty excited, this is our 2nd trip but first one onsite.
We are planning on MVMCP, hope it is good. Cant wait till tickets go on sale so we can decide what night to go. Our kids (5 &10) are very excited. We've had our reservations since last July, and that is when we started our countdown!! :teeth:

Our (me, DH, DD6) first trip will be 12/12-18 at PC. MVMCP, but haven't decided which day. Are the Osbourne lights for sure? I read somewhere that they might not be back til 2005. Thinking CP will be too much for DD6.

According to allears.net, the Osborne lights "should" return in 2004. Let's just keep our fingers crossed!

We're going too! 11-28 thru 12-4!
As of right now we're staying at POR, but if a code comes out for that time period, we might change our reservation to WL.
I've never been down there during the holidays, so I can't wait to see what's in store for me! I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time at EPCOT, since that's my favorite park and there'll be so much more to see there w/ the Holidays around the World and the tree lighting ceremony going on. I also want to see Osborne Lights..when we went in 2002 they were getting them ready..in September..if it takes them that long to get set up, it must definitely be a "spectacle"! We'll also be going to MVMCP.
what's your favorite thing about WDW during the holidays?

So hopefully we will be able to swim late afternoon. my dh wants to know why I am constantly on the puter researching things and he thinks the pal Mickey we brought home is sending sublimal messages to make me a obsessed with disneyworld. WHY b/c it's DISNEY!! I can't stay off this site at the off chance I might miss a really good tip. Keep em coming. Did I mention that I can't wait till December!!

It's not too early to plan at all.
I was only back from my early December solo trip for 3 weeks before I started planning for early
12 / 04. I've got the first week of December. So far, I will probably spend my first 3 nights at The Dolphin, but it's not booked yet.
Then I will switch to 3 nights at a one bedroom Boardwalk villa. I got that booked.
I am SO looking forward to another MVMCP. And I sure do hope for the Osborne lights this year.
This will be another solo trip.

This will be our fourth holiday trip to WDW..can't wait, haven't seen the decorations since 2000
Hope to see Osborne lights, that is why we held off going in Dec 2003..not sure on MVMCP yet, it depends.
See ya all there...:)

I am completely obsessed with planning too!! We may end up missing MVMCP as our dates are Dec 19-26 but we're definitely planning CP package at LeCellier for Christmas eve. We are booked at the Poly - yippee!! It's been my dream to visit at Christmas forever so I'm very psyched. It'll be me, dh, and our three wonderful sons who all tolerate but don't really share my Disney obsession. I've read about the crowds but I don't care since I'll be at DISNEY! Christmas morning bkft at Chef Mickey's is unanimous with the boys. Somehow we have to get Universal in this trip as well since the boys are finally old enough now to ride most of the thrill rides and they love that stuff.
disney4us2002 (and 2004!)
I'll be there too with my bf. Nov 26- Dec 4. I still need to make my reservation, I can't decide to get a room with savanah view or a pool view at th akl. I have never been while the x-mas decorations are up and I am really excited. Looking foward to MVMCP, osbourne lights (hopefully), and candle processional. Is it Thanksgiving Yet????!!!!!!!!

YES! I have my reservations made for December 04! 10 magical nights, baby! I am going home for the first time to stay at Saratoga Springs and I am SO excited! I am looking forward to eating at new places (Chef Mickeys for one), seeing things I missed before (LOTS of shows), going to the Adventurers Club, and getting a Dole Whip (I missed this last time)! I am hoping that my father will be able to join me and I plan to show him a good time in WDW!
Woo-Hoo! Disney in December here I come!

We'll be there! Me,DH,DD and DS gave my Grandparents a Christmas 2003 gift of a 10 day trip to Disney World with us for Dec.4-Dec.13 2004!
It has been my Grandmothers dream to one day stay at the Wilderness Lodge, so that's where we'll be.
We're planning on MVMCP the 5th and 12th, Le Cellier for the Candlelight Processional Package, Sleigh Rides at the WL, Illuminations Cruise...the works!!

Me, me, me!!! Also DH and mom. Mom's first trip to WDW during the holidays. Angey77, we'll be there same time as you, Dec 5-11 at BCV in a one-bedroom, can't wait. I really love VWL during the holidays, but with mom coming, and alot of holiday activities at Epcot, thought the BCV would be more convenient. I'll be soooo disappointed if the Osborne Lights are not back. DH and I loved them when we were there December 2002, and mom's never seen them. I really want her to experience them. Will definitely do the Candelight Processional dinner package. Ate at Le Cellier last time, was terrific. Word of warning though, get in line early, even if you do the dinner package. We thought we had plenty of time, and the line was so long we had to sit in the uncovered section, and it poured!!! Definitely not fun and very disappointing. Make sure you take the time to visit the Grand Floridian to check out the huge gingerbread house in the lobby, and sit and listen to the orchestra. It was wonderful.:D

us too! Right now my parents have 2 different sets of ressies at Ft. Wilderness. We have 12/26 to 1/2 b/c we know everyone will have that week off from work. Our APs expire 12/29 so between that, MVMCP and less crowds (!!!) we're hoping to go earlier in December but at least we know we have something. Even a super crowded day at Disney is better than a day at home! :)

We hope to be there from December 4-12 or 14. We are trying to get DH's family to go as well (15 people in all), but DH said that if they can't go, we'll go anyhow. It'll be our first trip to WDW for the holidays.

We'll be there December 4-11! We're going with a REALLY large group. :D Our family: me, dh, ds, and d?, Family #1: dh, dw, ds, Family#2: dh, dw, ds, Family #3: dh, dw, dd, ds, and Family #4: dh, dw, dd, d? WOW!!! That's 18 people. Of course, we have already planned to not do most things together--just to meet up in a few parks for a couple of meals, attractions. Otherwise we are planning on getting together at our resort (BWV) during the evenings.
I'm so excited! I've been planning this trip since December '03! (Funny side story: We took a VERY last minute suprise trip in Dec. with the understanding that we would skip Dec. '04 since I am pg with #2. Well, we hadn't been in MGM (first park we visited) a full hour when dh is all feeling the magic and saying how he can't wait to come back next year!. Needless to say, I started my planning right then and there!;) )
As far as what we have planned for this trip: We will do MVMCP on a Tues . (I hope). We also would love to book an IllumiNations Cruise, but may book some kind of Magical Gathering thing instead. We also plan on one adult night for dinner and JellyRolls!:hyper:

Add us to the list! We arrive at our timeshare on Dec 12, CRUISE out on a WONDERful 4 day excursion on the 19th, and return to the Royal Pacific for 3 days and Christmas at USO!! :Pinkbounc TWO WHOLE WEEKS OF HEAVEN! I will miss staying on site, but that's okay. The cruise will make up for that!
When can we expect the date for MVMCP and CP to be released? We plan on doing the CP dinner package...probably Le Cellier too!
I will keep checking this post! As someone had posted on another thread.....

We are also arriving Dec. 5th and staying at BCV.
Don't get your hopes up too much about Osbourne Lights though. A very good friend of mine works in research at WDW and sees many complaints/comments about the Spectacle not happening this past season. From what she's been told, IF they come back, it won't be until 2005. Hopefully, her higher-ups are mistaken or someone changes their minds. We loved the lights the two years we got to see them!

I'm going the week before does that still count??? We will be leaving on Thanksgiving and arriving at Disney on Nov. 27th. Taking the Autotrain down.
It will be me, DH,DD-16,DD-14,DD-11,DD-6,DD-6. We are staying at the HIFS. This will be our first time during the holiday season. Definitly doing MVMCP. I can't wait for tickets to go on sale!!! I'm thinking about going on either Nov. 30th or Dec. 2nd. I would like to also do CP. I'm just not sure where to go for dinner PS. I am keeping every body part crossed hoping that the Osborne Lights are back. My DH thinks I'm nuts to get so excited from now. But I can't wait to go!!

I do have to say my favorite part of the holidays at Disney is visiting all the resorts. We did this last year and I have sooo many pics. If anyone knows a way I can share Sony Imagestation albums with the public, let me know and I'll post the links to all the pics! Or just PM me and I can send you the personal email invites. I even have pics from MVMCP and CP.
Anyway, my favorite Christmas resort is AKL, but my bf won't stay there because "its out in the middle of nowhere." I'll get him there eventually!

Deb, we are very much leaning toward the autotrain for our Christmas week. I can't wait to hear how it works out for your family. Are you getting sleepers? We're just going coach but the kids (3 sons who will be 8, 11, and 15) think the train sounds like an adventure! I sure hope so. The autotrain is a bit cheaper than five of us flying and renting a car plus the convenience of having our own vehicle packed and not having to lug the suitcases is a big plus. My dh thinks anyone is nuts for getting excited about Disney but that's okay since he actually suggested this trip for a belated bday for me (the big 4~0 in Nov but who's counting!!). I think Disney announces MVMCP dates and CP info in April and I can't wait!!!!!!

Count me in!! After our 1st holiday trip to WDW this past December, I am now hooked! We will probably leave the day after Black Friday (sure did miss that day last year, even though I was at Disney!! ;) ).
The only downside, is we won't be combining a cruise with our park visit this time. :( But, we may do a 7 day Western in April/May '05...if I can get up the nerve to ask my dh!!!
I LOVE DISNEY DURING THE HOLIDAYS!!!!

We are really hoping we can go this December.
The big factor is if we can find some decent airfare, right now the cheapest is $282 RT.
If we can get it under $200 we will be going :)
Right now we have plans for arriving Dec. 6th and leaving on the 14th. We plan to do one MVMCP on a Tuesday and of course grab a Candle Processional package. We did that last December & it was GREAT! Even my 4 yr old loved the Processional!
I am so hoping the Osbourne lights are back up this year. I was so disappointed they were not up in 2003. We took a short mini trip to WDW last December, mainly for the Christmas decorations.
We would like to stay at the Poly again (did it last December & LOVE IT) but it will depend on AP rates at the time, otherwise we will probably stay at AKL.
We do already have ressies for Hoop Dee Doo for Dec. 10th (my birthday) :)
always quiet
01-27-2004, 09:14 AM
Already made ressies at FW for 12/2 - 12/11!!!! :bounce: After how lousy this winter in PA has been, we are really looking forward to some Fl sunshine and warmth!! The kids want to do the water parks this year so we'll get a 5 day plus hopper. Definite plans to do MVMCP the Tues. of that week and I have built some 'off' time into the schedule so we can tour some of the resorts as well. We did a round of mini golf in 2002 and the kids also want to go back this year and try the "Summerland" course. We had a blast doing that last time. The 'interactive' effects are great!! :hyper:
Looks like they'll be a whole bunch of us there in Dec!!! :bounce:

I'm sure later in the year the airfare will decrease. Last year, we were going to drive since we didn't think we would get a decent flight, but during the fall, SW came out with some great rates. We ended up flying RT from New Orleans for $120 each. Just keep an eye out.
Another great way to find airfare quickly and easily is to use sidestep.com. It pulled up a flight on American for us for Memorial Day weekend last year to NYC for $170.

We are staying at BCV and I hope to get us moved to OKW. We are planning on doing the MVMCP. We are getting together in MArch to determine the rest of our trip.

Thanks for the compliment! Some of my night shots came out a bit blurry, but I do love those Wishes shots!
We had our pics taken with Mickey and Minnie in Camp Mickey at AK. We had just gotten out of Festival of the Lion King and there was no one in line for either. It was wonderful!

We have been talking about that.
I just hate paying so much for airfare. I am just holding out for a nice airfare sale. I have been checking dialy, nothing so far.
I am not giving up my hopes yet.
But quite honestly, if we can not find cheaper airfare we probably will just stay at a cheaper resort. I have been wanting to see what POR or even ASMo is like

Those are some pretty good rates. Last year we were able to get on the Delta sale and paid $137 RT. That was our deciding factor to take a short trip to WDW in December. That was our first trip in December & we fell in love with it & got bitten by the bug.
I have been watching airfare daily, so far nothing. But I am positive it will go down, just need to have patience. ::yes::
The only bad thing is up here we don't have SouthWest airlines. I heard they have a lot of great sales.

Doesn't that sound WAAAYYYY better than 308 days!?!?!?
We will be there 11/30-12/10 and I have rooms at POP reserved! It will definitely be my fam: me, DH, DD (10), DSs (9 & 7), my parents (75!), and my BF and her husband! We have asked all of my siblings to meet us down there, but we'll see! I gave them until April 1st to give me an answer, as I told them that is when I have to buy MVMCP tickets. (without a deadline, they'd call me on 11/29 and ask if I booked them a room!!!) If they come, we'll be well over 20 people, but we do reunions every two years, so we've learned togetherness is only good when taken in SMALL doses!!! LOL!!!!
We are doing WDW, and will be doing UO as well. Whoever said they are staying at RP be ready for a REAL TREAT!!! Spend some time on the Univ boards, those people are great, too!
I'm still torn on the CP??? Is it worth it for the kids??? I'm also expecting to contact Magical Gatherings---the fireworks cruise is definitely on my list of things to look into. We'll do a few char meals, and I'm low-keying the planning so we can visit the resorts. Hoping it'll be warm enough for water parks.
We've done DL at the holidays, but can't wait to do WDW during the holidays. We've only gone during school breaks (teachers), so we are anxious for lower crowd levels.
I'm glad someone started this thread. I'm on here daily (okay several times daily!) so let's keep it going!!!!

PS---how much lime green ribbon will it take to muzzle my extended family???? LOL!!!!!

I see that alot of you are going around the same time frame like the 2nd week in Dec. I'm thinking about a little later (12th-19th) Do you think We will have bad crowds then? We were there in 2001 from 12/19-12/27 and from about the 22nd or 23rd on- IT WAS A MADHOUSE!! So we were trying to avoid alot of the crowds Do you think we will still be ok? Thanks, Sandy

Hi Sandy!
I spent December 13-20, 2003 in Disney and it was fantastic. Little to no crowds (the no crowds pertains to AK on a rainy Sunday. Can you say only us and CMs literally in Asia?). No longer than a 20 minute posted wait most of the week on almost all the attractions.
But don't let the low crowds fool you into thinking you can just walk up to CP without a package. There was hardly anyone in EPCOT the day we went and I can tell you the stand-by line for CP was twice as long as the package line (and we were backed up the Japan).
Enjoy!

Me too! My friend and I are going December 6 through December 11. I can't wait. It is all I think about. At work, I think how I am working for money for Disney World. it is what is getting me through. I've never been to WDW at Christmas time, so this will be very exciting.
We plan to do MVMCP and CP. We have some tentative dates, but we have to wait utnil we know for sure. We are going to eat all over the place including Chef Mickey's and the Princess Breakfast at Akershus! We are staying at the Cornado (a first for me). I am so excited. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one planning and being excited! I haven't been since August 2002! I'm so excited!- - Can I say that too many times???
I hope we can all keep each other excited all year! Have a great trip everyone! Maybe I will see you there! - - Do the DIS people still wear lime green ribbons?

PattiPB, that was me that said we were staying at RPH. We have 2 ressies for USO. I booked the Hard Rock because we liked it so well in October, but then I found the Royal Pacific Hotel for $100 less a night! So now we will hold on to both and see what kind of rates we'll end up with. Being as it will be Christmas Weekend, I doubt I will find anything really amazing as far as rates. I have been allllllll over the USO/IOA Boards! Especially before our trip in October. They are a great bunch of people!
Do any of you, who have been there before at Christmas, take decorations for your room? We will be at RPH on Christmas Morning and I just wondered if I should decorate for those few days? Our boys still believe, so Santa is going to write a note that the gifts were left at home, but I wonder if I should have a small tree and maybe a few small gifts...a gameboy game, books, crayons...what do you all think/do?

We were in AK on that rainy SUnday too!!! I could not believe how empty the park was. We were walking to Lion King & we did not see one other visitor!! The Lion King show was empty. I would say probably no more then 50 people!! (if that!!)
We walked onto every ride without a wait, including the Safari. The only wait we had was for ITTBAB & that was only waiting for the first show to get over.

I was kinda concerned about this too, but decided against the Fantasmic package. I'm not sorry I did either. We got to the theatre a half hour before start and there were still three sections wide open. We sat front and center on the eighth or ninth row. Keep in mind there were only two of us, so we could easily fit, but Disney had no problem getting everyone in.
My suggestion would just be not to get there at the last minute so that you get a decent seat.

I am taking my oldest GD to WDW in Dec 04. We will be there 12/04 -12/11. We are staying at VWL. I have aready made PS for the Hoop Dee Doo review. I have purchased Guest of Honor Badges and Magical Moment pins for the both of us. I started planning about 6 months ago. I have been working on an itinerary for about a month and am on about my 4th changes in schedules. We have not told her as of yet because she would be driving everyone crazy with her anticipation. It is bad enough that I am driving my DDIL crazy with questions regarding my itinerary. I am just so excited about this trip. I am going to make PS for her to do The Grand Adventures In Cooking at the GF. We are going to take in a day of shopping at DTD Market Place. Of course we will be doing MVMCP. Can't wait to see all the Christmas decorations at the parks and the special shows they have during the Christmas season.

Since we're not going til nearly Christmas we are still well over the 300 day mark but anxiously awaiting getting under the 330 day return date mark so I can look for transportation. We're leaning toward autotrain as the boys think it'll be a great adventure (Gosh I sure hope so) and the added convenience of loading up our minivan with Christmas junk plus luggage is more appealing than flying with too much.

We are hoping to fly, but will be waiting on cheaper flights. We do have the luxury of living within a reasonable (10 hour) driving distance just in case.
The thing to do when flying is to bring the maximum baggage, including carry-on, and pack minimally in hopes of doing laundry. That was you have quite a bit of space to pack souvenirs. In December, I bought the big Main Street Train set and seemed to have forgotten how big it really was (larger than my largest suitcase). But I was able to ship it home via FedEx through Disney for $20. Not bad.

We are flying (obviously!!!) Fortunately for us, I can always get the $99 each way special from Southwest. If they ever discontinued that special I would be lost! Total airfare for the five of us will come in around $1100.
My biggest frustration right now is rental car! The days and times of our flights have us renting for 1 week and 4 days! If it was another day, it would be the two week MUCH LOWER rate!!!

My mom and I are planning yet another "girls only" trip from Nov 26th to Dec 5th. This will be our 3rd trip since I have become an adult and we also went twice when I was younger.
We are staying at the Pop Century in a preferred building.
We are awaiting the sale of MVMCP tickets, and we will also book LTT for dinner before the party. We have gone to MVMCP twice and MNSSHP once.
We are also planning to try for an Illuminations cruise for one of the nights during our stay, is anyone else going to try for the cruise?
Going at this time of the year is our very favorite time to go, Im really hoping the Osborne lights are up this year! That is one of my favorite reasons for going in Dec.
We have already booked the Hoop De Doo and look forward to being able to make more plans!! We always say we will wing it and not make too many PS's and then we always have every day planned! LOL

Hi we are going 12-11 thru 12-16 staying at AllStarMovies, then trekking down for the 3 Day Wonder cruise(12/16-12/19) 4 years ago we went this second week in December and it was great, beautiful weather and sparse crowds. We did MVMCP but I think we will skip it this year because it was very crowded and this time we will have a 2 year old with us who can't stay up till midnight. We're on the Disney Wonder 12/16 - 12/19 and then head over to WDW 12/19 - 12/23. Taking advantage of value rates as 12/19 is the last day and then holiday season hits. Though I'm thinking of POFQ for this trip, I'm sure I'll change my mind a billion times - will have an AP so where we stay will depend on AP rates (if any) and availability.
I'm really looking forward to it and lucky me, we're headed to WDW 4/9 - 4/18. Once that trip is over I'll still have something to look forward to.

We're going in Dec.! (actually we are arriving the day after Thanksgiving, but won't hit the parks until the following Monday) This will be my 4th trip to WDW with my family! My DH jokes that I'm trying to compensate for the fact I never went as a child.;)
He's probably right. We are hoping to stay at the Contemporary for a few days, but will mostly be based out of Marriott Horizons with my parents. We are also hoping for MVMCP, Chef Mickey's and maybe a High Tea at the GF with my mom and oldest DD. (6) Mom wants to try for a Princess breakfast again, but after failing to get one each day we tried before our last trip, I'm a little discouraged to try again.
Overall, I'm way more excited about this trip than I probably should be this early, but what can I say. It's dreary and cold here right now and I little WDW planning and dreaming makes it easier to handle.

We're planning on 12/3 to 12/12.
We're starting at Universal with two nights at the Royal Pacific. Then we're moving to a time share at Marriot Grand Vista for a week. Still haven't figured out where we will spend the night of the 11th, but most likely it will in or very near WDW.
We're contemplating Mickey's very merry x-mas deal, but we weren't sure if it would be worthwhile considering the parks are supposedly fairly quiet that time of year.
We have three kids, who will be 7, 6 and 3 at the time we go.
Haven't booked airline or car rentals yet.

We're planning an extended family vacation for December 4-11. There will be 16 of us (9 adults, 7 children). I would love us to be able to stay at the WL, so I'm hoping for good AP rates. I'm a little nervous now though since I read on another post that AP rates for the WL are hard to get at that time of year!! What do you guys think?? The other families don't want to pay rack rate, but I thought it would be so much easier to be able to take the boat to the MK or the boat to get on the monorail since there will be so many of us!! They are letting me do the planning since they know I try to get the best deal since I'm a stay at home mom with just DH income. I don't know if we should reserve a moderate and then wait for AP rates and try to switch or just reserve at the WL and keep my fingers crossed!! Ugh...so much pressure!;) I just want everyone to have a good time!!

How are you all doing on rental cars??? I have a minivan from National for 10 days just under $400. Anyone have any codes that can beat that !?!?

PattiPB,
Have you ever tried priceline for car rentals? They are the only way we go when we travel. There is a great website, www.biddingfortravel.com where people list their winning bids. You might want to check that out.

Angey77---never tried Priceline for cars, only hotels. Biddingfortravel is a great but INTIMIDATING!!! forum. I've read it but wouldn't post on it! LOL! Travelling with 7 people (3 kids), it's usually worth it to me to stay with an onsite car rental co. Maybe I'll try it, though...
BTW---just added another room to our group, and the AAA rate of $68.68 inclusive is still available for PC! Anybody who is booking, make sure you ask for it! It's well worth joining AAA!

Well you can take us off the list of those going in December.
I am actually OK with it, believe it or not.
We decided to go Memorial Weekend & the week after instead, BEFORE our APs expire, since we don't plan on renewing them.
I will miss MVMCP this year, but that's OK.
DH & I PROMISED each other a trip to WDW in 2005 for the Christmas celebrations ;)
Have fun everyone...I will have to live through you this year

I might have already posted this (can't remember, we did a quick trip to Disneyland last week), but we had to change our dates from 12/3 - 12/11 to 12/10 - 12/18.
Still staying at the Marriot Grande Vista and then onsite at Universal.
Will these weeks be more crowded than the earlier week? Or will it still be relatively quiet?

Me, my DH, my DD (9), and my other DD (7) will be going December 4th through 16th. After which we will be going on our very first cruise the Disney Wonder 16th -19th. M birthdays on the 21st, so I'm getting an early present. I am so excited I can't wait!!!! My DH can't believe I am already this excited about it and want to plan so early. Apparently you guys understand me and my excitement!
We went to Disney World once before at christmas time but my DD was only 1 at that time, so I am looking forward to seeing and doing more this time.
What are the top things we should do? We did not get to do anything other than looking at all the festive decorations last time.

Me, my DH, DD-7 and DS-4 will be going 12-1 thru 12-6. We are planning to go to MVMCP for the first time. A couple questions --
What time is the parade at the CP?
Is it normally really crowded and how early before it opens do you need to get there?
We were originally planning on staying at AK or CBR but are know considering ASM because I think the kids will love the decor. Any comments on this property?

Definitely do MVMCP, especially since you have children. They will love it. And take them to visit all the Santa Clauses in each country in World Showcase. Those are very cool, and educational at the same time.
One more thing, bring them to Camp Minnie Mickey in AK. There are Christmas trees all over the place from Piglet, Tigger, Poo, Simba....a lot of trees to say the least! And Mickey and Minnie are back there dressed in their holiday attire for pictures.

There are two parades, but I can't remember the times. The second one is less crowded however.

Last year, we went to the last MVMCP and it was sold out, but we never waited more than 15 minutes to ride anything. I hear the crowds are much smaller during the week, but again, I didn't have any problems with the Friday crowd. You can get there pretty early, we arrived at 5:30 and were given armbands. As they clear the park of "lay folk," MVMCP goers are directed on the right side of Main Street and into Tomorrowland to enjoy the rides there for an hour before the official start of the party.

The decor is great at all the resorts, but I do think the All Star resorts are the most kid-friendly. My nieces loved it when we went, and they were 6 and 9.

I LOVE the All Stars (particularly Movies)! BUT!!!!! I've read on several threads that early December is Pop Warner season, and they always stay at the All Stars. Even though we are travelling with lots of kids, I'm not too interested in having Pop Warner cheerleaders practicing outside my room! LOL!!!
I've read that Pop Century will NOT be used for conventions of any type, so we are staying there. You might want to consider that move, also, or at the very least investigate for yourselves. I'm excited to stay at Pop---it won't even be a year old yet!!! However, if a good code comes out, get outta my POR way!!!

Question about Pop Century. I'll be at WDW Dec. 5-11 at POFQ. Looks like they will be there the entire time I'm there- except the first park day. Will this make a difference in the parks? Do they usually lurk into the parks or are they at Wide World of Sports competing the whole time?
I'm excited to be there for a few days the infamous Del's wife will be there!

We LOVE Cindy's!!! We try to get breakfast there on every trip, and DH and I had dinner there on our "alone" trip in 2002!
I am hoping against hope to get ressies in Dec., but will have to pare down our group if I'm going to stand a chance! We will have a total of 12 people, and I'm probably only going to try to get 8 for the breakfast. I figure that is reasonable, since it is two tables of four! My parents haven't been to Cindy's yet, so I'm really going to try. Fortunately we have a fair number of days I can try for! Unfortunately I have to get up at 4 am to get the ressie!
DH and I took an anniv trip alone in 2002, and planned our anniv dinner there. I told them it was our anniv on the ressie, and noted a request for a window table, to try to time with fireworks. Not only did we get a window, not only did we watch the fireworks eating dessert, but we got an anniv gift!!!! Our server gave us a pair of champagne flutes with "Cinderella's Royal Table" and a picture of Cindy and the Prince dancing etched on it! They are on display in my house.
The neatest part was Prince Charming was circulating through the room, and when he approached the table, he said "I see you've already found your Prince Charming, and I hope you have an enchanting evening"!!!

PattiPB- we had a group of 15 this past year and got Cindy's for everyone. We had to get to different PS thought b/c above 12 goes is transferred to group dining and by that time it is full. So, we ended up with two PS for 12 and lessened the number of one from 12 to 3. We also got 12 for another day but kept the date we wanted and cancelled the other. We also got a PS for 11 two years ago. Just remember to say party of 12 or as many as we can get in- if not the CM may not grab that table of 8 that may only be there for a second- my mother had this happen to her! Just assign some extra callers and you will be fine. We had 5 people calling and both days we tried 2 people got PS for 12! I don't think it's really the number that is as important as getting through early enough. Good luck! Sending pixie dust your way!!!princess:

How magical and dreamy!! Thanks for sharing those great memories! We are so looking forward to our first Christmas at WDW, with or without Cindy's. You make me think maybe an anniversary dinner there would be better anyway...

I'm pleasantly surprised to see so many posts about large groups at Cindy's! What months were you able to secure large party ressies??? Since this is our first ever off-season trip (teachers), I'm optimistic for Cindy's, and an Illuminations cruise, too!!!

PattiB- we got reservations for our large groups Thanksgiving week for 2 years- and Thanksgiving Day was the day we kept out of multiple reservations. So, a very busy day at MK but special with Cindy's that morning! Again, I think it is how quick you can get through to a CM when you call.
Good luck!!!princess:

Will you be doing any MVMCP nights?

We will be there.... My friend and I will be on our yearly get away to Disney Dec 3-11 and are staying on property for the first time (Pop Century) and cannot wait to go....
For those that have not been to Disney around the Holidays it is incredible. I highly recommend MVMCP.... Also, a tip if you plan on attending make a PS at one of the resturants at the MK for around closing time or a little after for dinner - that way you don't have to leave the MK and then come back. You are already in the park and get to avoid all the crowds at the entrance and on main street when they reopen for MVMCP.

My very 1st post!
My wife and I will be at WDW starting 12/4! We'll be staying at the Vistana Resort (timeshare). Can I ask a couple of questions? I'm not tuned into all of the Diney Jargon yet.
What is MVMCP?
Can you please give me a quick run down on the LeCellier Candlelight Processional?
Also - What else would you recommned for a couple to do/see during their December Disney trip?
Thanks all.

WELCOME MHELY (aka Mike)!!!
MVMCP is short for "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party." It is an after-hours party that requires special admission tickets and it is well worth the funds.
Here is a link that explains it fully:
http://allearsnet.com/tp/hol_mk.htm
With the Candelight Processional, the event is free with admission to EPCOT, but if you reserve a dinner package with a select restaurant, you are guaranteed a seat. I'm trying LeCellier for the first time this year because I've heard so many rave reviews on it. Here is more info on that:

delswife/Robin - be sure to post your itinerary somewhere so we can all watch for you! Unfortunately, on the 8th, my clan is doing Discovery Cove.
But I have to have to see your crew in action sometime, somewhere in the World!

Can you guys help me out? Which 10 days would you pick?
From Dec 1-10 or Dec 10-20? taking Crowds, deals etc. into account.

This will be my first time the first week of December, but I did go the second week last year.
The crowds were wonderful, pretty non-existent. I'm thinking it will be the same for the first week.
Both weeks fall under the same season as far as deals. They should both have the same AP rates and such. We stayed at ASMu last time for $49 per night!

I'm going to be there with my wife and 9yo girl and 22 month old girl. We'll be at ASMo Dec 4 - 12. Any ideas on what parks to hit on what days? We are planning on 5 days of Disney and two days to Universal. We've never seen Universal and the new Mummy ride looks fun.

Since December seems to be so slow, try to hit parks on their early entry days. I usually avoid EE like the plague, but since the crowds aren't bad to begin with, you can get a lot knocked out by noon. But I would still stay away from MK on a weekend, and maybe even skip MGM on its early entry on Saturday since MGM can get crowded also. I do have to say though, AK is much less crowded than the other parks on the weekend.
Best bet is to have a rough idea based on EE, then finalize it when you see what events/parades are going on on what nights. Last December, Spectro wasn't every night, so we had to adjust accordingly.

Wow, Zurgswife, GREAT list!!! You can add DH and me too! Dates are Dec. 10-19 at SOG. I will be solo for the first half until DH finishes school, then he will meet me.
Any talk of a mini meet yet? There are sooooo many DISERS that are going to be there at the same time! It would be so cool to meet a few people. I just love being part of this great family!

I'm trying....again..
It will be me, my grown DD, and my granddaughter, who will be 6 in September..
Hoping to arrive Nov. 27th and depart Dec. 5th..
If all goes well and I get our house sold before then you can BET we'll be there - and maybe for even longer!!
We plan on doing MVMCP, 1 day at Sea World, and 1 day at IOA..
Keep your fingers crossed for us to make it this year - last year was a total disaster!
Oh - forgot to mention - I already have Pal Mickey for my granddaughter.. (Shhhhhhh..she doesn't know anything about him...;) )

My Mom, my daughter and I will be in WDW 12/4 - 12/8 and then 12/9 - 12/12 we will be taking the Disney cruise. First time my mom and I have taken a cruise. We're always way too excited for our WDW vacations and now with the cruise too, there's no living with us. My daughter took the Disney cruise last September and got engaged.
We've got a 3 bedroom house with a pool reserved and I just went and bought our hopper passes today. I'm ready!

You are so great to keep this list up to date!!!!
I really appreciate you extending my dates from 11/30-12/20 instead of 12/10!!!! LOL!!!! I showed this to DH as proof that we need to stay 20 instead of 10 days. It doesn't seem at all unreasonable to me!?!?!?!?!? However, I see his point that 20 days would be a lot of Mickey ice cream bars!!!!

Everybody gotta make sure they wear the lime-green thingie. During my past trip (February, President's Week), I wore my lime-green Mickey Head and I didn't find anybody from the DIS.
In fact, the only day I lost the Mickey Head, I met somebody from the DIS and she's the one who recognizes me (don't ask how).

Looking forward to LeCellar and the CP.. been wanting to do that ever since we started going to WDW (first trip 2001.. Dec is our 7th trip) MVMCP is a must do, as well as the Osborne lights. Other than that.. just gonna veg and check out the DVC resorts. We will be at the BCV . No kids with this trip!!

As much as I want to buy those, the design is (sorry) godawful.
I'd shave my head before wearing one of those. :teeth:

Oooooooooo! I might order the fanny pack!
Course it would "clash" with my colors on the days that I'm wearing purple and such, but it's for sure no one would MISS me with that hanging off my waist!!!!

I bought it cause if you spent so much you got free shipping and I was really close to the free shipping amount, so it was like getting the fanny pack free....but you are right NO ONE will miss you wearing that!!
I was only gonna wear it during meets, but ended up wearing it anyways....I thought where else can you wear a bright green DIS fanny pack and not feel out of place??

LOL! It's not the lime-green that's the problem. It's the kitschy design. :)
I have no problem with the lime-green T-shirt though. But 9 days wearing the same t-shirt will be sooooo funkeee! :D (I refuse to experiment with this newfangled invention called "detergent", I just don't trust it  )

Its getting closer guys....less than eight months now for many of us.
I did check out my invoice from my MVMCP tickets from last year, and it was dated from the first week of June, and I remember I bought the tickets the week they were announced.
So about one more month!

I don't want to jinx anything, but I'm too excited not to post!
I should be going with my Mom (and maybe Dad'll join us). Dec 8-13 is what I'm working with, but that could change. It's all tentative, but with me and WDW, where there's a will, there's a way.
