My DD and I have booked the Boardwalk Villas for a week in early December and need a room for the night before we check in.
The Fairfield Inn quoted me a rate of $54. Is that a good rate? This looks like a new hotel and has a gated entry so I like the security.
Do you think this is a good rate and do you have any opinions about the hotel?

Have not stayed in the Fairfield, but did stay in the Courtyard in the Marriott Village...There are 3 hotels in a cluster and they are all pretty new. I think they opened in Oct of 2000. The location is wonderful...across from the entrance to Downtown Disney. The complex is gated and felt very safe. There is a nice little foodcourt in the Fairfield which is very convenient for early morning coffee or late night snacks.
Having stayed in this complex before, I would pay the $54.00 to stay here again.

I stayed at the Fairfeild Inn in the Marriot Village just two weeks ago. I was very happy with my stay and the price I got ($64 a night). I did not spend much time at the hotel, but the room was fine though small, but I had a king bed room with a large handicapped-assessible bathroom. The hotel is clean and well-kept, and the breakfast has lots of seating and a good selection.
The only thing I got to mention is the "gated" security thing. When I checked in, the guard was a lady who was at least 60 years old, and basically waved me through without checking anything. She never checked my reservation or anything - just asked how many nights I am staying and handed me a parking pass for the car window. So I am not sure how much help the "gated" security really is, but the whole complex is very nice overall. :)

thanks for the info! Sounds like a good place to stay for DD and me. So much for the security feature though!
Now I don't have to watch for the AP rates!

I have stayed at the Fairfield many times. It is a great place to stay.
I wouldn't think of the gate as security because during daylight hours the gates are up. It is only at night that they have a guard.
