I'm trying to decide if I want to get this for my boys for our May trip. I've been looking on eBay and they are selling for upwards of $50 (plus s&h) Does anyone know how much they are if I buy one down there? Can you buy these at the Disney Store?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Pal Mickey when I was there in Oct had just increased to 60.00 think that is still the current rate. You can find him all over the parks and downtown disney ,

We bought one in Oct. 2003. He was $60.00. We had a lot of fun with him. I think the rental price is $8.00-$10.00 a day. We decided to buy him because we will bring him back with us on our next trip. He does play games when he is at home too.

But what exactly is a Pal Mickey? Is there a Pal Minnie? How big is it and what does it do? I have two DD's one 5 one 10 months is it something that they would like? :scratchin Feeling pretty goofy right now that we are missing out on something.

There used to be a link to an article all about him. He is in my daughter's room right now. About 12 inches tall. Weighs about a pound( I am guessing). He has a clip on the back of his head to attach to your belt, backpack strap, etc. He also has a zipper down his back to access batteries. He vibrates when he has something to say. Then you push his tummy or his hand. He would tell us that a parade was starting in 30 minutes and it would be a good time to find a seat. He told us that certain rides had short wait times. He told us when and where the characters were. He gave Disney trivia and told really corny jokes which we loved. He gave us a lot of information. He works in all the parks. Just when you enter a new park, make sure he is facing forward as you go through the turnstile. There are transmitters around the parks feeding him information. So by holding him forward he can tell where he is. Just make sure to turn him off at night. He will go through batteries. Take extra batteries too. I got that tip from this board and it was nice when he was winding down to have batteries in the backpack to get him spunky again. While we were there, there were was a CM with a clipboard walking around with a Pal Mickey. She was checking off all the places that were giving info. They are adding a bunch more in the future. I really want a Pal Minnie. Rumor is that is in the future as well. Also, Donald and Goofy. We really enjoyed him. I know some people found him annoying after a while. I think my husband had more fun with him than my 5 year old.

The $60.00 includes tax.

Does it? The sign in DTD said plus tax : (

We purchased our in Sept 2003. We paid an even $60.00. I guess they could have changed it. We bought ours at the Old Key West. Maybe someone else has bought one lately?

I bought mine in early Sept 2003. He was 50. We rented him first. I think it was 8 p/day. After a few days my DD could not part with him. So, we kept him. If you keep him, they charge your credit card the full price. The 8 p/day was included in the price. I only paid 50, not 50 + rental price. I think this is the best way to do it. This way you get to sample it before you buy it.

What size batteries does he use?

Yes, we had budgeted $50.00 for him. Then a week before we left (We got there on Sept. 27th), they raised his price to $60.00. I think it should stay that price for a little while, but you never know.

I just went and found my receipt (I paid $50 for Pal Mickey, just before they raised the price) and they charged me 6.5% tax, but you are all right..it was 46.94 plus $3.06. So it was $50 total. When I saw the sign downtown that said plus tax, they must have had the untaxed price too, the "plus tax" and then the total. My mind just filled in the blanks LOL.

As of last week it was an even $60 including tax in the parks. THe park maps show exactly where you can buy it. Be sure to have it on as you enter the park in the morning. We didn't turn it on until we were in the park on two days, and it really threw him off! If you have trouble with him, go to any store that sells him and they will "reset" him for you. Takes just a few minutes. The hardest thing about him is remembering to take him with you every day. I only forgot him one day, but I was mad at myself about that. I left him in the trunk of the rental car every night after that so I wouldn't forget him again!

FYI, I bought mine on ebay for $45 including S/H. .............P

The one day we brought him in, it didn't seem to matter where we were when we turned him on..he just started up at that point.

I did ask when I was there last week, about the reprograming I kept reading about on these boards, and the two people there told me they have the chip, and it's their chip that gets updated, not our Pal Mickeys. What did they do to your Pal MIckey..what did they do to reset him? They seemed perplexed by what I was asking. I just sold my Pal MIckey to a Diser, and she won't be at Dis for awhile, so I wanted to know if he was going to have to be programed. They said no. So now I'm confused.

Our Mickey would start to shake (as he is supposed to to let you know he has something go say), but then he wouldn't stop! He would shake until I shut him off. Or he would shake, play a joke when we pressed his tummy, and then five minutes later shake and tell the same joke again, and then five minutes later..... you get the point. This happened at MGM and at MK. Both times I brought him into a store that sells him, they put his nose up to some sort of screen thing that is in a drawer near the register, hold him there for about two minutes, and then he would be fine for the rest of the day.

Since I bought him on Ebay from a terrible, lying, disreputable seller, I would like to blame her for this, but I'm sure she had nothing to do with it (unless it was not new like she said, but used and perhaps she knew it had a problem?) ...................P

Hello, Was just curious to know if you can buy them in the hotel store, so we can have it before we go to the parks??? Thanks.

Yes, we bought ours before we hit the parks. You may want to keep your receipt with you in case there are any malfunctions. We never had a problem though others have. He just ate batteries because we forgot to turn him off.

I think I paid $60 for mine at Epcot, I can't remember if that was tax included or not (I bought a few other things at the time too). I love my Pal Mickey.:)
