We decided not to hire a car as we are staying onsite but we really like this restuarant - New York China Buffet which is near DD hotel area. Is it possible to get a bus to one of the DD hotels and walk there ???? and what about other retaurants here - TGIs Pebbles etc are they within walking distance ?
Thanks.

I'm not sure where any of these restaurants are but I do know from any resort on property there are Disney buses that run to DD.

From your onsite hotel take Disney transportation to DTD. The Hotel Plaza Blvd. hotels have a bus system that goes to DTD Pleasure Island between 6pm and 3am.
It is a long walk, but enjoyable, to walk to the Crossroads Shopping Center from DTD where all the restaurants are, such as TGIF.

Hi,

I'm also interested about this. For me it doesn't matter if it is a long walk, but I wanted to know how safe the walkway is? I thought that you needed to cross the I-4 to go to the shopping center. Is that right?

mslagen, the walk is very very safe. The walkway is back from Hotel Plaza Blvd. and is landscaped.
You do not have to cross I-4 to get to Crossroads Shopping Center. You do have to cross at the intersection of SR-535 which is heavily traveled. But, the cross walk there is protected with cross walk lights for pedestrians.
Pissaria Uno is only one of many restaurants in Crossroads.

The chinese buffet restaurant that you speak of is not within walking distance of the Downtown Disney area, but would be an inexpensive taxi fare from the DTD area itself.
Crossroads IS a long walk from the Marketplace. It's doable, but it is a long walk. (with sidewalks and crosswalk lights)

Thanks all. I know the walk is landscaped and I remember a crossing area. I guess thats a good plan. Go to DD, get a taxi from marketplace to NYCB and then taxi back to DD & DQ ::yes::

I would say if you do not mind a long walk then bus to DTD Marketplace then walk over to Crossroads to burn some calories and build up an appetite then wih the $ saved on that taxi fare then use a taxi back to your resort
thanks
